Gary and his crew at Tempe Tune-​up are top notch. I have been taking my cars to him for 20 years and have referred many people as well, who have all been extremely satisfied and still go there for all repair/​maintenence needs. We just have never allowed anyone else to touch our cars and have had nothing but superior service. And great running vehicles. He’s the kind of guy where you’ll go in there and swear it’s one thing, and you’ll walk out paying a lot less and it was a minor problem. Just the kind of biz he runs. He’s honest and very reasonable!

I was referred to this place by a friend actually. I came in hoping to get my problem fixed, but my hopes were crushed. My air conditioner in my car was not blowing. I left the car there overnight. When I came back to get my car the next day there was leftover trash in my car. I let that slide, because my air was blowing again. The air was hot, but I figured it needed time to start blowing cold air again, so I waited a day. The air was STILL hot. I took it to get checked by someone else, and they said there was no frion in the car. There were no leaks, so it just was not refilled. As a shop who is supposed to make sure everything is fixed before giving someone their car back, I definitely think it should be their responsibility to make sure they put something as simple as frion in my car before giving it back. Not only that, but not my car has problems starting up since they changed the ignition switch. I had horrible service by this establishment, and I will never go back or recommend ANYONE to go here.

On the surface, they seem great. I took both of my cars there for about five years. When changing a radiator hose on my own, I opened my radiator. There was a thick brown, mud like substance about an inch deep, blocking the opening.
I came to learn that this is something that GM uses and if not watched carefully this happens. BUT, I had taken my car into Tempe Tune up, at least 3 times since last October. When you take your car in, you expect for them to check all the fluids and tell you when things need to be replaced/​fixed.
This was caught right before my entire engine was destroyed. I couldn’t believe that these guys, who seem so honest, were so careless and unprofessional. If you need a new headlight or something simple, go for it, but if there is something that has anything to do with the actual mechanical function of the car, go elsewhere. I was duped for five years and almost had to replace my engine thanks to the carelessness of these people. I sang their praises the whole time, I feel like a sucker

I have been going to Tempe Tune-​Up literally since I was in the womb. My parents has taken all of their cars, and now my sister and I take our cars to Gary at Tempe Tune-​Up — never anybody else. I’ve been spoiled with Gary all my life and NEVER EVEN KNEW that mechanics could be dishonest, manipulative or cheats! I am moving out of state soon and to be honest, one of the things I will miss most is having a mechanic like Gary that I can trust like a family member to care about the quality of my car — it just makes life a little less stressful.
Also, Susie, the office manager/​receptionist has been with Tempe Tune-​Up since I can remember – at least 15 years, I’m sure, and is also super helpful and friendly… and I believe the fact that she’s been there for that long says a lot about how the business runs.
We all know what it feels like to be treated with respect and to interact with people who have genuine integrity, and when you go to a mechanic, you should be able to expect those qualities from the people who you’re trusting to leave your car with — Tempe Tune-​Up is that place.
