Will Adams, Sensei (5th Dan)
I began practicing karate at West Coast Shotokan Karate Association in September, 1971 shortly after I began teaching English at Mark Keppel High School. I have never regretted my decision because our teacher, Sensei Hamile had this great philosophy that «karate was for everybody.» As teachers we had to find that method that would move the student forward. We have to look at the strengths and weakness of our students and help them build and maintain their strengths while improving on their weakness. This just didn’t include the physical but also the mind and spirit as reflect in our dojo kun. I have practiced other martial arts; wing chun (咏春穿),baguazhang (八卦掌), aikido(合气道) among others but I continue enjoy practicing and teaching karate( 空手道) to the students at West Coast.
