At first I thought this was authentic Mexican. I think it’s a bit Tex-Mex. I love the fact that every table gets their own salsa container for chips and salsa. You never have to flag down a server for more salsa. Yes!!! So we sat for a while and no one came to take our order or give us drinks. So I eventually had to flag someone down to get some service. After that, it got better. I got torta fajitas(no beans). It was really good. the bread was soft, slightly toasted, and buttery. I wish it had the classic red salsa though. the green one wasn’t spicy enough. and it didn’t come with limes on the side. But the torta was still very enjoyable. The fries that it came with… however… was not hot, not fried enough, not good. My dad got the steak fajitas. It came out warm, not sizzling, not fresh. Definitely was a let down. I think it came with 3 flour tortilla(maybe 4), either way we asked for more. They charged us for a few extra tortillas. My fav drinks here are the swirl margaritas(which a large will get me to a point to where I shouldn’t drive). So I got the pina coloda instead(which is my fav), which you can barely taste the alcohol, but it’s so creamy and good, not watery or taste directly of bottled piña colada mix. Fridays and Saturdays have live music. A guy walks around playing a lot of Johnny Cash music. I like it… but it definitely makes this place lose any authentic Mexican vibe. I have been going here years earlier. Now it seems different. I may come again once or twice with friends, but not craving it.

First, and foremost, the establishment is dirty. I mean, the kind of dirty that makes you question whether the back of house is the same way. If TDA served the best food in town, it would still be questionable and sketchy due to poor cleaning practices. From the tables, condiments, to both menus ALL were sticky, which includes food crusted seats and rank smelling bathrooms. To top it off, it was shortly after 12pm when we had arrived, which I know they hadn’t been open long enough to create that dirty mess. In my opinion, TDA needs to address this yesterday. Second, no other Mexican style restaurant, that I can genuinely recall, has served me queso and meat where the grease fat ALONE could be its own side dish. I mean strain the meat fat and that might, along with a cleaner establishment, help win more than a one-time trip from me. I do believe I have experienced better.

My first time here today for lunch and was excellent. I had a Poblano pepper stuffed with chicken, with rice/beans, and Horchata to drink. Friend had an enchilada. Everything was really good, and service to match. Nice sitting area. Quiet. I shall return.

Arrived on a Saturday evening, about 6 and the wait was not long, we were seated immediately considering it was a full house. We were greeted by a older man playing his guitar and singing, very enjoyable. The waiter immediately brought chips & salsa, which he also brought a little pitcher of salsa in case we ran out, we’d be able to pour ourselves… A++ for me! Ordered a margarita, very good & strong, also ordered the chicken enchiladas, the service & food were excellent! Highly recommendable authentic Mexican restaurant.

Salsa was very good. Chips thin and fresh tasting. Décor is not great. I had the carne asada. Meat was a good cut but not well seasoned. I thought the prices were a little more than what was delivered. Overall though, I would eat here again when I go through Terrell.

I’m not familiar with this town, so I went to this restaurant based on other reviews. I went around 8pm on a Saturday night. The parking lot was full, which I thought would be a good sign. When I walked inside, it was kind of unclear where to wait to be seated. No one was at the counter to the right so we walked passed it. My friend and I stood there for a few minutes without being acknowledged, though several employees walked by several times. Then I saw people walking in behind us being seated which was frustrating because no one told us where to wait to be seated, not was there any clear signs of where to go. There was a lot of people waiting in the front area which is dark and cluttered. I went several more minutes not being acknowledged by the host staff even though I was standing right in front of them. Finally I had to ask to be seated. We were seated in the very front area to the left where there was only 2 other large tables. We sat in a booth where a waiter walked by us several times before I had to get his attention. I was beyond frustrated at this point and almost left, but there are not a whole lot of other options in this town. The food we received was just ok. Being from San Antonio and growing up with authentic Mexican food, this place cannot even compete. They didn’t even have homemade flour tortillas! Their tortillas were like plastic. The meat on my plate was warm, but the rice and beans were cold. My friend ordered the green enchiladas and his rice and beans were also cold. The green sauce on the enchiladas tasted like it came straight from the can. I wouldn’t return to this restaurant, nor would I recommend to anyone. The only thing I did enjoy was the chips and salsa… that I had to ask for. Also, we received our food and before we had the chance to ask for silverware the person who delivered our food walked off. So we had to sit there with our food with no utensils until our waiter walked by.

I felt that the food was alright. It was not very good but not bad. The waitress forgot my order a couple of times. I don’t like waiting so if I don’t have guacamole and my margarita, no Bueno!:( Don’t think I’ll be back any time soon.

What amazes me is that the parking lot at this place is almost completely full in the evenings which means A LOT of people in the Terrell area have no idea what actual Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Several weeks ago I took my family here and we couldn’t believe how dirty and dingy this place was. First they sat 5 of us in a circle booth that had a table that was too big for this booth! We were extremely uncomfortable but it was the only thing available so we took it. The service was horrible and almost every order was wrong when we finally received our food. At least 3 different people waited on us and all of them seamed to have a real attitude. The food was pretty nasty as well. The ONLY thing we enjoyed was this old guy walking around singing country songs while playing his guitar. I actually felt pretty sorry for him but I can only assume that he is the only reason so many people come here as he was very entertaining!

Stopped in here for a margarita and a chile relleno plate and it was margarita Wednesday! I had a lot of margaritas and an even better time. The food was great, definitely better that the place(los hermanos) down the road. Our server was extremely polite and always arrived just before my margarita glass was empty. Looking forward to next Wednesday!

The food tastes great, a little too good — MSG! Knew it within an hour when the MSG headache and digestive issues ensued. Darn it, loved the sweet waitresses and the place was cute, too, but feeling like crap for 3 hours is too big of a price to pay.

Great food for decent prices. The décor and tables/seats leave a lot to be desired but the food made up for that. One thing to note, they’ll fix you whatever you want — even things off the menu. My wife wanted something specific and the waitstaff didn’t blink an eye in saying«yes we can». The roaming entertainer they had there singing really old Country songs was a hit.

Was very pleased with our visit to Dos Aces. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The food was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant itself was clean, although the tables could use a fresh coat of sealant. Will definitely visit again.

The food is always good; the prices are always great; the service is always wonderful. Recently, they have added karoake to the main dining room which really makes the dining experience fun even on a week night! Years ago, we used to go here because it was the only place open late. Now it’s one of the places I prefer even when it’s early. I would have given 5 stars if the restaurant itself was designed a little different. The dining areas are rather strangely laid out and when it’s not very crowded, the space seems a little warehouse-like — too large. Additionally, the booths are not as comfortable as they could be. But those are small complaints. Overall, a great place to eat and drink spur of the moment!

My husband and I stopped by here after I found several favorable reviews. This was our first visit and it was a mixed bag. We were seated in a booth by the window and decided to move because the sun was setting and right in my face. When we moved to another booth, things were great for about 20 minutes, when the sun reached me over there… they could really use better blinds on their windows for this time of day. It took us a while to check out the menu as this was our first visit. We started with drinks and table guacamole. OMG — the table guacamole is da bomb! They make it for you right there at the table with fresh avocados, tomatoes, garlic, onions, cilantro, jalapeños and lime. We opted to nix the jalapeños — and the guac was AWESOME! My husband got the nachos and I got the tortilla soup. Both dishes started out great — but as we got deeper into our respective dishes, we both discovered something that made us very disappointed. The top of my husband’s nachos had real cheese and beans. As he dug deeper, there were no beans and the real cheese was replaced with cheese sauce. My husband grew up in the Rio Grande area and spent half of his youth in Mexico and he said he’d never had anything like this as authentic Mexican or as TexMex. I asked about the soup before I ordered it. I am semi-lactose tolerant. I like real cheese in moderation in my tortilla soup, so thankfully asked for easy on the cheese. It never occurred to me to ask if it would be real cheese! The soup was initially awesome. Zucchini, tomatoes, shredded chicken. The broth was awesome and so was the chicken. By the time I got half-way through, I brought up a clump of cheese — NOWAIT! cheese sauce! Shoot me now! You could see the way it dripped off the spoon back into the soup that this wasn’t normal cheese. Sadly, it got it blended way too much into the remaining ingredients and I had to stop eating. I don’t know what it is with cheese sauce, but it doesn’t take much before my body throws up the gauntlet and refuses any more food. This was a true travesty. My husband said the meat on his nachos was really good — but they ruined the bottom layers with the cheese sauce. Likewise — the cheese sauce in the soup ruined the rest of the otherwise sublime dish. We were presented chips and salsa immediately after we were seated, and then a couple of flour tortillas with butter. The waiter was very nice and attentive. Our refills were prompt and before we asked for them. I’d be happy to come here for lunch and try their authentic tacos(sans cheese!) and another table guacamole with the chips and salsa — but I’m not sure we’d come back for entrees again.

The chips are thin and light, served warm and with tasty red dipping salsa. The flautas were crunchy and thick with plenty of chicken. The atmosphere is clean and cozy, and surprisingly quiet. The staff was very friendly and attentive; regularly checking in to make sure everything was good to go. I was very happy with the food and service overall. And having consumed my share of flautas all over Chicago, I have to say these were definitely on my list of top three. Too bad I am only visiting, otherwise I’d definitely come back for round two.

Best Mexican restaurant I know of. Excellent food, very fast to the table. Awesome salsa served as soon as you sit down. Reasonable prices, and lots of room. Greeted with a smile and a «How are you?» The manager is very friendly, and the wait staff take care of you. I can be found here 1 – 2 times a week.
