Angelina’s is my favorite place to go eat in the colony. I love the atmosphere of the patio. Margarita Monday is the best. $ 2 margaritas. My husband and I share the sampler. There is plenty of food. The wait staff is always super friendly and you can’t top a lake view!

Good solid Mexican food menu with many choices. The fajitas were excellent. The Carne Asada was tender and favorable. Cold margaritas in both 10 oz and 20 oz options. The service was outstanding. We had a large group and we were able to secure a reservation on fairly short notice. Our server was exceptional — keeping the chips and queso flowing until the full group arrived. During the meal she was always«there» when we needed something, but never hovering. I’d go back to this place in a heartbeat just based on the quality of service we received. All in all it was a good and relaxing family dining experience.

Back in2010 this place was awesome for tex mex, but not now! The service was terrible the ground beef was so ground it was almost something like pedigree dog food for puppies. Major communication error, slow down and listen to your customer… it pays off. The chips were very fresh and hot BUT the salsa had no flavor what do ever more like tomatoe sauce with cilantro. Man this place has gone downhill, I wonder why though. I used to love this place, next time I won’t suggest going there until they fix their way of cooking and serving. Sorry but this is ALLTRUE.

Great place, always able to get seated with no wait. I like sitting on the back porch overlooking the lake. Get the grilled toriados with your meal(grilled jalapenos) for an extra kick. Can’t go wrong with most everything and they for sure have the best salsa around.

All in all, good. Not great, but consistently good, well-priced Tex Mex. Only real complaints: salsa is good but not even remotely spicy(need a *leetle* spice here, fellas), and they don’t have mole sauce, which is my favorite thing to get at any good Mexican joint. But the food is good, service is good, ambiance and architecture are good… and I dig the patio. They have both an enclosed patio, which has so-so views of the lake, and an open-air patio, which is mucho goodo. Definitely prefer the outdoor patio when weather is good. Been here a few times and never disappointed. Spice up the salsa a little and get some mole sauce and it’s an easy 5 stars!

My daughter took me to this restaurant. I thought it was good. From my view it reminded of Mexico. You can see the greenery annd the sun cascading over the water. It felt different from all the other restaurants in the area. The food was good. My beans, rice and salsa were seasoned just right. My sour cream enchiladas were good. The price was fair for my plate. I will go back and try something new.

This is a little worse than below average. There’s better Mexican options in the area.

Below average across the board with poor service. I would advise going somewhere else for Mexican food. The one good thing there is the fried ice cream.

Angelina’s makes a great margarita. It isn’t thick and syrupy from a mix. It tastes fresh and could easily be the best margarita in The Colony. We sat in the bar area of this beautifully decorated restaurant. The outdoor patio was great views of the lake and I can easily see us going back to enjoy cocktails there in the summer. We ordered the tableside guac, it was a little too citrusy for our tastes but we countered that by mixing it with some of the fresh salsa they brought to the table. We tried the taquitos which were not very good. They were crispy rolled tacos filled with ground beef and cut in half. The meat was overdone and they just weren’t very big on flavor. We also ordered a combo plate with cheese enchiladas, a taco and tostada. Nothing special there either, very bland enchilada sauce, flavorless overcooked meat. The rice was good though and tasted freshly made. If we return it will definitely be to enjoy margaritas, chips and salsa with a spectacular view but we will pass on the average food.

Normally good. Not today. Ordered beef burrito. Took it home and fed it to my dog. Made a sandwhich for myself. Went back to work.

It’s ok. The food is ok. I ordered cheese enchiladas and they were overloaded with cheese sauce. It was a ton and I really like cheese but it was to much. It is also very loud!

Barely rounds up to a 3. Its okay. Second time I went and the first trip was really mediocre. I had a great waiter with a mohawk. Forget his name now. I think they need to tighten up their recipes and clean some more.

We stopped here only because it was close to Nebraska Furniture Mart. I don’t have much good to say about our visit, really, other than this: there is far better Tex-Mex to be had in the area. I’m pretty picky about my Mexican and Tex-Mex food since I grew up eating legit versions of it cooked by my parents and grandparents. Angelina’s doesn’t pass muster. Here’s why. Let’s start with the complimentary stuff: Chips not fresh made in house = bad Salsa tasted like it came from a jar bought at the grocery store = bad Tortillas were fresh made in house = good Now for the main courses: Husband ordered the crispy taco plate. This is his standard meal when we eat any kind of Mexican food out. All he had to say about the tacos was, «You pay for atmosphere.» So that should tell you something. I ordered something called the Pollo Loco. It was grilled chicken and vegetables with rice and charro beans. My assessment of the meal: Chicken: good flavor, not too dry, nice portion size Grilled veggies: awesome since it was mostly zucchini and squash. Didn’t care for the carrots. Would have been much better if they were grilled onions. Rice: meh. But I don’t eat a lot of rice as it is. Beans: Charro beans shouldn’t taste like Ranch Style Beans, which I am pretty sure these were. The plate also came with a little lettuce and tomato salad topped with cheese. Service was okay. Our server apologized for the slowness of the kitchen since it felt like it took a while for us to get our food. Atmosphere: like every other Tex-Mex joint. Brightly colored walls with odd sculptures and the Mexican music of my childhood, covered in Talavera tile. In short: drive the extra miles out of the Colony to somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Anytime a Mexican restaurant smells of something other than Mexican food, you are usually in trouble. The restaurant is dirty and stinks of smoke. We sat on the back patio. He ordered tacos al carbon and I ordered the guiso. Two months later my husband and I are still talking about how bad the food was. I ate two bites of the meat. His two tacos al carbon tacos ended up one steak and one chicken. He ate the beef and we got the heck out. As we drove away, we wondered whether it was dog or horse meat we had just been served. Just thinking about it makes me throw up in my mouth(and that tastes better than the food did!) Please don’t eat here.

We were looking for a central location to celebrate multiple birthdays, and The Colony seemed easiest for all. It isn’t a place I visit often — this may have been my first time in at least 20 years — so I can’t say if this is a good place for the area or not. However, I have had better. I love Mexican food, I could eat it every day, so my bar is pretty high. This place came highly recommended by a coworker, so I decided it was worth a shot. A few days prior I called and spoke to the manager to make a reservation(8 adults, 1 child). He was super nice and put me down for the inside patio at the time and date requested. So, when I walked in and was greeted by a friendly, young girl I stated my name and the fact that I had spoken to Marcus and we had a reservation. She told me to wait and a few minutes later returned with a man. She did not say who the man was, I must assume he is Marcus? I didn’t ask to speak with him so I was perplexed. So I ask if he is Marcus to which he cheerfully confirms. I introduce myself and remind him of our conversation and all seems fine. He, too was bewildered by the hostess calling him over. He looks at her and says«set it up». At this point she got a huge attitude and as he walked away complained that she had«no idea» that we were coming. It was quite awkward. «Just a minute!» and she storms off, I can only assume to prepare the patio for us. After a few minutes she returns and says with an over abundance of attitude«I didn’t know you were coming, so it’s going to take me a minute!» Again, awkward. It isn’t my fault you didn’t know. I’m quickly growing weary of her. Again after a few minutes she comes back, grabs menus and instructs us to follow her. She sits us in the dining room and turns to walk away. I call back to her reminding her that we had a reservation on the patio and inquire as to why we cannot sit out there(I can see that there are plenty of empty tables on the patio). The restaurant was largely empty. If memory serves there was one small party in the dining room and another larger party on the patio which was at the end of their meal. She let out a big sigh, reminded me that she had«no idea!» we were coming and storms off toward the patio. She hastily pushed together 2 round tables, placed our menus and utensils on the table and walked off, taking her attitude with her. I absolutely, positively despise people with bad attitudes. I am a customer, treat me like you are glad to see me. I am a certified salsa snob. Their salsa was worse than anything off the supermarket shelf. It was chunky, which I don’t mind. There was 0 heat to it… zero! I felt like I was eating chopped tomato and onion. I saw one small cilantro leaf — once — and never saw anything that looked(or tasted) like a pepper. In my opinion it was a bowl of onions and tomatoes, no garlic, lime, salt or pepper in the vicinity. I rate Mexican restaurants based on their salsa, so this place started at –5 in my book. To be fair, one person in our party said«OH! This has a kick to it!!» But, she’s from Indiana… I had a margarita(or 2!), which I normally don’t have anywhere, but I was in the mood for an afternoon cocktail. Hello! They were the best part! They were pretty potent and cheap. Just like I like my booze. The food was decent, but nothing to knock your socks off about. I ordered carne asada and it was below average for my liking. It lacked the grilled look and taste that one expects from the dish. It was grey in color, it looked like it was cooked in a pan with water vs being seared on a hot griddle or grill. The flavor could have used an extra punch and it was nowhere near medium rare that I requested. It was tender and juicy, but no pink in sight. I could have sent it back, but I pick my battles. We had a large party and I was hungry. For the price it was awesome, around $ 10. My friend ordered the same dish and hers looked more appetizing than mine. Our waitress was awesome. I don’t recall her name(this was about a month prior) but she was super sweet and on the ball. She was fun and attentive, but not too attentive. Three of us were celebrating belated birthdays. The staff came out and sung to us and gave us sopapillas. They were all very nice and wished us happy birthdays. The place looks like it has been around a while. It could use a facelift. The theme is slightly over the top Mexican décor that even in Mexico would be a little much. The parking lot is full of holes and could use a redo. It’s seen better days. However, it seems like it is a small family owned place and I have certainly seen worse.

Always great food, ask for Martin!!! He is our server every time if we can help it :) The brunch is fantastic with $ 3 mimosas and bloody marrys. I recommend everything as I have never been disappointed. Try the fillet-de la casa… No words can describe!

Had never tried this place before and thought we’d give it a shot. It bragged great tex-mex, margaritas and a patio overlooking the lake. We were certainly disappointed. So we ordered frozen margaritas, they came out over half-way melted, mind you the temp outside is in the 70’s, no reason for them to be melted at all. Not to mention the HUGE fuzz-encrusted HAIR I found in my water glass. So gross. Suffice it to say, we did not drink our margaritas or order any food. When I showed the hair to the waitress, she replied«I’m sorry, that’s the business, sometimes it just happens» Fact: I used to wait tables. I never served my patrons hairy water and soupy margaritas. Total turn off.
