Nice, clean room, lovely view, great people working at the front desk. Even the rooms that aren’t technically gorge views allow you to see some of the water and the dam.

Have stayed here 5 times (twice in last 10 days). The wildflowers are spectacular this bloom due to good rains, and warm spring. Always find a kind friendly receptionist (hats off to Mason and Zaira) who gives us our complimentary glass of wine on arrival. Even though it looks ”old timey” from the I-​84 freeway. The main ”old time” is the care they give you, like the good old days: rooms and beds, bathrooms, décor all first rate.
They are very knowledgeable about local events, wineries, and even have a winery tour that can be part of your stay.
The area is gorgeous w/​spring wildflowers, fruit orchards and vineyards, as well as the mighty Columbia River .
Very good value; free wifi (that works !!!). Continental breakfast and one of Portlands Première coffees served in the lobby.
Only ding is no bathtub for the bad back folks; yes there is a heated pool, but not inviting at late night arrival and off to photograph at 5 am!

This hotel is awesome. Beautiful view of the Columbia River, great rooms, and wonderful staff. Shana was awesome. Really cool patio overlooking the Gorge.

Very clean, spacious, and great rates. Friendly staff. Internet didn’t work for a few hours at first, but may have been my computer. FREE WIFI.

When we checked in we were upgraded to a king size bed room with a view at no charge. Our tv did not work in our room so they moved us next door. The staff was nice, professional, and accommodating. The room was clean and cute. Good value for the cost.

Great place, clean, pets allowed, killer view. Well, I’d suggest a fence low in the front to block view of the local houses below. I would suggest taking in the Saturday music and some wine on the patio with a view!

We love this inn!!! The rooms are comfortable and modern. It’s a hidden gem that we love visiting. It’s pet friendly also so our whole family can stay together. This is a great place to stay!

Deschutes River fishing trip was made complete with this comfortable, affordable, clean, quiet, hot water, strong water pressure, excellent and extensive breakfast bar including fresh fruit, boiled eggs, muffins, toast, cereal, and yogurt.
Add to that the kind and responsive front desk staff at both check in and check out as well as the generous gesture of putting the breakfast out 2 hours early to accommodate our 4am fishing trip departure all combines to make this my «go to» place for all future trips along I84.

Stopped here on a road trip after a long drive south from Canada. Surprisingly chic, tasteful room. Lovely staff. Much nicer than the chain competitors!

I stayed at this place for Work on June 9^th and it appeared to be clean when I walked in. Around Saturday June 13^th, I noticed multiple red spots on my body and they were itching like crazy. I thought they were mosquito bites. But as it turned out, they looked like Bedbug bites after doing some research online and speaking with Family and Friends. I went to see my Doctor and he prescribed a steroid cream and Prednisone to help with the itching and swelling. I called the hotel on Friday Morning June 19^th wanting to speak with a Manager, the Woman at the desk stated the Manager was gone until Saturday. She stated the manager would call me around 11am on Sat. June 20^th, I got no call. Then, Monday morning June 22^nd, I spoke with the same Woman. She said, the Manager is very busy and would call be back later. As it got later into the evening, I still haven’t heard from the Manager. My Wife called them again and spoke with a guy at the desk. He stated, the Manager is already gone home and he’s busy helping customers. Very Unprofessional for not following up one, twice, and three times.

Preferred place to stay in The Dalles, and I’m here for work quite a bit. It avoids the problems of their sister property, the Comfort Inn down along 84, namely incessantly slamming doors, thin floors and walls. That place is not a favorite (although it’s generally cheaper and the rooms are larger).
Rooms are small at the Celilo, and prices seem to vary greatly by date or capacity, and can be expensive of a town like The Dalles. Still, the king rooms are enough for one or two, and are simply but nicely appointed, with good beds and tons of pillows. Queens are very small, and have only partial or no view. Haven’t had the breakfast or an evening wine yet, usually rushing out at 6:45am, but the lobby is comfortable, and the Stumptown coffee tasty.
The view does look out over the Columbia and the dam, but also over a half mile of houses, hotels, business and highway. This place is well set back from the river.

After reading reviews we decided to give this hotel a try. Overall, it was ok. We payed $ 189 for a king suite as that was all that was available. For the price it was not at all what we had hoped. The bathroom was very small and the pool closed at dark as they don’t have any lights. Breakfast didn’t help make the case as they only had coffee and pastries. It is also close to the train tracks and you go through an awkward housing area to get to the inn. However, the view was fabulous and it was clean.

Got in very late and very tired. Desk clerk was funny and friendly. Room had an awesome view. Quiet, clean and comfy. Not a single complaint. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend and were lucky to get a room. I have driven past it on I-​84 many times and always wondered what the hype was about, since it didn’t look like a place I would want to stay in at all. Well, we couldn’t find anyplace available in the region for our anniversary and I ended up booking here on a lark. So glad we did! I would not have anticipated this, but now I want to return to The Dalles again for another weekend of wine and hiking exploration and stay here.
They have a wine passport that is very useful. We used the coupon for the Discovery Center, plus for the Baldwin Saloon. If we didn’t have to leave early the next day we would have done their complimentary Lazy Sunday wine tour (seasonal, not a permanent thing). We spent the evening after dinner on their patio listening to their live music and enjoying a complimentary glass of their own branded (columbia hills) wine, plus a comped rounded for our anniversary (thank you!). The fire pit, view, cheese/​grapes, and music were so nice. The next morning before going rafting, we enjoyed their breakfast very much. Good granola, yogurt, tea, etc. and again enjoyed the patio with the view of the whole river, bridge, and dam.
Driving up to the hotel (technically a motel) is sketchy and so weird. But you round the corner and see the beautiful little lobby. The rooms were a delight. Very clean and modern. Our room had an unobstructed view of the river and hills. This is not someplace that was just bought and new bedspreads thrown on. They TOTALLY renovated it. They left the old Motel sign up as an homage (that’s my guess anyways). Historic photos in the rooms were a classy touch too.

Don’t let the location or drive up fool you. Its in an odd location for a motel and looks a bit dodgy but once you turn the corner and get to the reception area you’ll realize why its got such good reviews

This was such a pleasant surprise. The Dalles was my planned overnight stay in my road trip. For whatever reason, this town’s hotel is doing well, it was hard to find a room in town — for the average 3 stars one. This place was a model before. That is why there is still a giant motel sign in the place. Like many things in the past, this place has gone through transformation. It has been renovated, everything is relatively new. We arrived there is two glasses of complimentary wines for us. The location of this place is a gem, it overlooks the big dam in The Dalles, the sunrise and sunset are amazing. Breakfast is complimentary, and it is much better than most inn or hotel in the same grade, to start with it is better than some of the Hampton Inn by Hilton. By the way, the Hampton Inn is the one you can compare with. There is a small gym, a pool too, plus a patio outside the reception where you can have breakfast and watch over the dam and the water.
One last thing, there is a welcome booklet that all guests have, you can drive and drop in all the winery on the way to Portland and get 2 glasses of complimentary wine in each winery, I think there is a total of over 10 glasses of wine to be claimed at least. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I am in the area.

Affordable, recent remodel, this hotel has been around since the 50s! Totally awesome unobstructed view, modern rooms, bath an body works toiletries, wine and a comfy bed! Win!
As an added bonus, they have wine for sale on premises!

We stayed here with a voucher from Living Social, so we received a very reasonable rate of $ 139 for two nights, plus tax. The room we stayed in was very clean, comfortable and had a great view of The Dalles. The staff was friendly, and the proximity to wineries in the area is fantastic.
I do have a few minor concerns, though. My husband and I were really looking forward to some Stumptown coffee prior to leaving the hotel each morning and both times, no coffee! This may seem like a small matter to some, but when you try 2 for 2 and strike out, it’s not good.
Also, the heat this past weekend soared into the 90’s. We walked over to the pool area anticipating a possible swim, but it didn’t appear to be very clean. I am assuming that’s due to the colder temps from the past week?
One last thing to staff: Pretty please, do not rave about a local restaurant unless you’ve eaten there recently. Going against the reviews of my fellow Unilocalers, of the offending dining establishment, we took your advice on one of our evenings. I believe the McDonald’s would have been a better (and much cheaper) experience. Your recommendation of The Baldwin Saloon, however, was INCREDIBLE… thank you!
Overall though, we really did enjoy the renovated space and appreciated the history of this place. We’ll be back. Get that Stumptown brewing!
