History

Established in 2000.

Humble Roots, Big Ideas — When John Jacobi founded Windermere Real Estate in 1972, he had a vision for the way real estate should work: anticipate and respond to the needs of buyers and sellers, and support the communities you serve. While other real estate companies were focused on size and sales, his goal was to earn the respect of the communities where he and his agents worked and lived. Four decades later, John Jacobi’s humble beginnings have gone from a single office with eight agents to a network of 300 offices and more than 7,000 agents throughout the Western United States.

Here in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge our Windermere journey begins in 2000 with a man named Glenn Taylor and a switch from Better Homes and Gardens to Windermere Glenn Taylor Real Estate. In this wonderful and unique place the Windermere named blossomed into 5 offices. In 2005 Mr. Taylor passed the legacy to past long time agent, Kim Salvesen. I first began my real estate career in the Columbia River Gorge in the early 1990’s. In the mid 1990’s I moved to the Oregon Coast where I managed two subsequent multi branch real estate offices. In July of 2005, I returned to the Columbia River Gorge as the Risk Manager for Windermere Glenn Taylor Real Estate as well as Principal Broker/​Sales manager for the offices in Hood River & The Dalles. In August of 2007, Glenn Taylor elected to retire after more than 35 years and I am honored to be the one to continue the journey as the new owner of the Hood River office of Windermere Glenn Taylor Real Estate. In January of 2011, I acquired the Bingen, Stevenson and Goldendale offices of Windermere Glenn Taylor Real Estate, making my company the largest real estate firm in the Columbia River Gorge.
