Great place, good food and cold beer and ice. Please stop by and say hi and support our remaining businesses at salton sea. Open Thurs-Sun.

We were riding our motorcycles around the Salton Sea and we were looking for a place to stop and look at the sea. However, Salton City is just about a ghost town so I was just about to lead our group back to the freeway and on to the next city when I spotted a sign for an RV park. I figured there might be some life there so we rode in and low and behold we found Johnson’s Landing. And there was a rager of a party happening! DJ, beer, great food, horseshoes, tons of folks riding quads and dirt bikes, the works. It was like finding buried treasure, and we had a blast! If you’re ever in the area, check it out. Great times.

Updated review, since the place has new owners and new employees. Everything is HUGELY improved, especially service. Now it’s SUPER friendly and prompt. Everyone working there was helpful and friendly. Food is simple, but good. I’ve been back a few times since the change, and will continue to come here when I’m in the area.

Came in during thanksgiving weekend which is their busy season, and was welcomed as one of their own, as most parks were fully packed this time of year. Stopped into the«café» not sure what to expect and fell in love with the atmosphere, friendly staff and owners who worked their asses off to provide great service and accommodation. My hats off to Debbie and Clint who get it, you run a great place between the breakfast buffet and the weekend smoked meat dinners(the brisket is to die for) and the Friday night hamburgers… I’m going to miss this place. Most importantly, and last yet not least, Chrissy was by far one of the most polite, yet hard working bartenders I’ve ever seen! Hope to come back soon.

We love Johnson’s Landing! This place is a landmark and I have so many great memories here! They are so accommodating and the food is fabulous! I highly recommend the bacon cheeseburger and homemade chili! Everything is fresh and wonderful! I almost forgot, these ice cold beers are such a relief… not to mention, if you make it a chelada ;)! Thanks, Diane, Mitch, Lisa and Chrissy! We love you all!

I’m pretty sure ownership and/or management has changed since the other review was written. Was there a few weeks ago and the current owners said they hadn’t been in the area very long. Beer prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially given the remote location, though the Sculpin IPA felt a bit out of place here. [worth noting: owners said they’d never even heard of IPA when they bought it, but their supplier told them they’re quite popular, so they gave it a shot] Ate here twice that trip. Burger wasn’t anything special, and quite pricey at $ 9 or so. However, on Saturdays they whip up something different that’s not on the menu. I was fortunate enough to be there on chicken fried steak day! Probably the best chicken fried steak I’ve had outside of Texas — and I lived there for the better part of 25 years. Opened with a ho-hum salad featuring iceberg lettuce & shredded cheese, just like back home, and then it got real. Freshly breaded steak, and served with green beans & mashed potatoes — the only acceptable sides in my world! Potatoes clearly involved someone back there with a potato peeler and a masher, and though the green beans were canned, you’d hardly notice with that much bacon involved. Overall good experience. Very friendly people, and good service too. Will definitely be back.

It is unfortunate that Carlos had a bad experience, I have been coming to the sea since 2003 and Johnsons Landing has always been a destination stop. Always good food and great service. The restaurant is small and the kitchen is small, so if you go and the place is crowded you ARE in for a bit of a wait. Most of the locals know this as do many of the off roaders. The atmosphere is pleasant and the view is great. So that being said, if you walk in and it’s crowded? you have 2 choices, relax and enjoy the view, get to know the locals(because you will have a wait) or go elsewhere. But fyi, if you come on a busy holiday weekend most places are crowded and there will be a wait there also.
