Ever hear,” there are no honest mechanics”? Oh yes there are… right here in Thousand Oaks. Today, I found automotive computer & electrical. I can’t say enough about their high standards. Not just in their knowledge, but also in their honesty and workmanship. Try them, you will be glad you did.

Dana the owner, is simply a gem in Thousand Oaks. He is as friendly, kind and honest as a shop owner possibly gets. Knows Japanese and Domestic cars like the back of his hands, hates working on German cars which is fine. Since a gentleman by the name of Steve isn’t working there anymore, the shop deserves a solid 5 star review. Deal with Dana directly and you will become a customer for life. I know he is my car guy forever. Thanks Dana!

What can I say? This business has 22 reviews all of them 5 stars I couldn’t agree more. Dana and his business saved me over $ 600 in comparison to the repairs I would have paid at a major dealership that i now will never go to again. Thank goodness for honest local businesses that are known by word of mouth and not advertisements. Please do yourself a favor and call Dana. Buy local!

I cannot give high enough praise for Dana and his team at AC&E. I NEVER take my cars anywhere else to have them repaired. Dana’s honesty, integrity, skills and his consistent efforts to keep his customers’ costs down make it so easy to highly recommend him to all of my friends and colleagues. He is ‘Da Man ! No matter how far you live from Thousand Oaks, take your car to him if you ever need repair work … you will NOT be disappointed and ever go anywhere else.

Dana is the most honest mechanic in the world. I’ve been taking my cars to him for well over 10 years. He did his utmost to keep my old clunker on the road but after 15 years it was time to say goodbye and get something new. Dana did so much work for me trying to run down the electrical problem and because he couldn’t find it he didn’t charge me for his time. He is old school ethical. Unfortunately you don’t see that anymore and I’m fortunate his shop is in my town. I saw that some reviewers were upset because he didn’t return calls. It’s not that he doesn’t want your business its that he’s so busy keeping T.O.‘s cars on the road. I’ve learned to call first thing in the morning and I almost always get his wonderful wife Lynn. Afternoons are very difficult as everyone is trying to get their cars picked up. If you become a regular Dana might slip you his cell phone number. That’s when I knew I was now a part of the family!

this place is great. The staff is always kind, and take the time to explain what happened, and give you a set of options. The are very trustworthy, and I would, and have highly recommend them.

I have always received great service here, and Dana is good at what he does. He is a mechanic who tells you all your options, and doesn’t rip you off. I have taken my three cars here, and have always been treated well. I recommend people here all the time.

Dana Swan is my favorite mechanic. I have never met another mechanic that will take the time to explain your options to you, even if the options don’t include him.
Dana has fixed every problem I’ve ever brought him — except for one, where he’d taken my car for 48 hours, driven it and ran it through his computer, not finding anything. He didn’t charge me for it — and it turned out that my gas gauge (or tank float) was stuck, so my car was running on fumes but reported a quarter of a tank. You won’t find another mechanic that will test and drive your car for 48 hours and not charge for it. Many mechanics charge just to run the computer on your car — sometimes up to $ 100! Walking away from AC & E without a charge was a pleasant surprise.
I will definitely continue to take my cars to Dana for his friendly and honest service, and recommend him to anyone looking for a local mechanic. There aren’t enough good things to say about this business.

I have been going to ACE for years now and Dana has been nothing but exceptional, from old chevy trucks to new import cars this shop is first class. Dana really knows what he is doing and is very fair and affordable. He’s and honest mechanic and I believe that has a lot to do with his success.
He’s very busy but if you call in advance you can be sure to get in when you need to. Check out ACE you won’t be disappointed!

Prior to visiting Automotive /​Computer /​Electrical I thought it would be wise to contact my vehicle’s local dealership prior. The stated exacts including price, time, and cost.
I was referred to AC&E. I have considered rewiring my old project car for a couple years and thought I would give it one more shot. I explained in clear English the car needed a wire harness installed. Dana, the lead mechanic/​electrician, explained I should call him back in a couple weeks. Thinking it was entitled AUTOMOTIVE COMPUTER & ELECTRICAL I thought this was a good bet.
I talked to him for a couple minutes in regards to my situation and explained that it once was a show car and had been modified and returned to stock unsuccessfully. He explained prophetically that their shop didn’t work on modified cars. In fact, he had a modified Orange Chevy truck with the hood up in his garage. That truck looked really nice but obviously «MODIFIED», Go figure.
I was quoted upwards of $ 3000 at the stealership to install the wire harness, and get my car running. I will be taking my business there. Not because he seemed intimidated at working on the aforementioned «un-​modified» car but because he didn’t seem like he wanted to fix it.
I say that loosely because I will never take any of my vehicles there.

I have taken all of our cars to Dana for years. He is so honest and always explains exactly what the repair is. Many times, he has been able to repair items at much lower cost than I expected. They are busy, but they always seem to squeeze me in when I need them.

So… My sons car wouldnt start. Because Im not from the area or even familiar with it, I used Unilocal to guide me in the direction of a Mechanic. Dana was amazing. I have never been so pleased with someone. Although it was determined it was a dealer issue, Dana took care of everything and I didn’t stress at all. I would recommend AC&E to everyone. Honest and definitely customer service oriented. What a wonderful way to be treated. Thank you!

Apparently AC&E has plenty of customers. I called and left messages twice, and emailed once. Never heard from them. I can’t tell you about their expertise, because they never gave me the chance to observe it. This most fundamental aspect of customer service – being available to the customer for that first contact– seems to be something they don’t care about.

I’m pretty surprised that nobody on Unilocal has written a review for Automotive Computer & Electric, I actually chose it based on the one review I could find on google. I visited this shop a few months back to get my brakes serviced (new pads and rotors turned) and not only did they quote me a price that was half of what the dealer wanted, but they were cheaper than many other independent shops as well. Once I got my car there I found the mechanics to be very friendly and easy to talk to. They listened when I told them what the car needed, and I was shocked when they simply concurred with me and told me what I could expect to pay. Rarely these days do you encounter honest mechanics who don’t try to up sell you on more expensive parts — these guys are the real deal. If you need a mechanic, here are some of the best.

Love AC&E… Dana, the owner, is competent, friendly and a real human being. You will be pleasantly surprised how honest and reasonably priced his services are. He is a smart man and has some interesting theories! Fun guy to talk to!

Dana, the owner is honest, reasonable and knowledgable. Each time I have had my cars serviced at his shop the job was done properly, on time, and for much less money than I had expected. He does not do everything on every car and will be the first to tell you up front when he is uncomfortable with a job, which is a lot better than some of the other shops that will try and BS their way through. I trust him to work on both my cars a 1999 GMC and a 2008 BMW, and no, we are not related.
An honest, reasonable, and knowledgable mechanic, who could ask for more?

I have taken my cars to Dana and have always been exceptionally pleased with the repairs. He has repaired my 2002 Lincoln Town Car and also my 1969 Ford F-​250 Pickup Truck. The Towncar had misc. electrical issues and needed a tune-​up. The truck had a power steering pump leak, a sputtering carb and a wire that was shorting out (and smoking). Both cars ran perfectly when the work was done.
Lynn charges appropriate prices for the repairs and his mechanics know exactly what they need to do. They are very honest with their rwork and I am very pleased to know them.

This is the best mechanic in the world, period!
Dana and Lynn have helped me through so much with my older car and given me a great understanding of how basic things in my car work. I never let anyone else touch my car, but the things he doesn’t handle he refers out to friends. He has even called out phony repair suggestions made to me by other mechanics! Dana and Lynn are incredibly patient, fair, and understanding and treat people like family.
His estimates are always clear and fair and the bill is never above the quoted price. He keeps all the parts he removes if you need to inspect them later. There is a true transparency to his business and he treats all of his customers fairly and will never try to take advantage of you. Everything is explained clearly and he will even show/​explain all the work he is doing so you fully understand why the repairs need to be done. If there is work he sees will need to be done soon he gives a time frame for when they should be done so you have some time to save up some cash.
This is a true gem if you don’t mind the drive, but TO is pleasant and there is food within walking distance and its in a very nice neighborhood if you’re stuck out there for a few hours. The only other down side is that they are super busy, but they will always get back to you the same day and they keep their word when they say they will call you later.
Bottom line, if you have been jerked around by mechanics in the past and need quality repairs, start with AC&E. They have given me the tools to confidently decline so-​called «emergency» service from other mechanics and navigate the world of auto repairs.

if there is something that he cannot do the work on your car, he would recommend you to other auto repair shops to have your car repaired.
like transmission problems, tires, or etc.
