Let it be known, I was never a fan of going to the dentist, actually avoided it most of the time. That being said, this was easily the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Dr. Shaelan McDonough was very friendly and straightforward. His work was thorough and painless. His staff were all very friendly and I was greeted with smiles instead of heaps of paperwork. I highly recommend Dr. McDonough to anyone seeking dental work in Southern Ventura County.

A friend referred me to East Oaks, I was not disappointed. As I walked in, the receptionist greeted me warmly. The dental assistant, Luis was great. He talked me through the x-​ray process and answered my questions in detail. Dr. McDonough eased the little anxiety I had with his precision and professionalism.
I work often but the office was accommodating with my schedule, as I’ll need to come back to extract my wisdom teeth. I was given several dates to choose from that would work best for me. After my first visit I’m not worried about my upcoming visit. I know I’ll be in great hands :-)

Everyone here are great and friendly, very professional. Gentle on the teeth, great use of technology. They are very informative. Great with young children. My whole family has been coming here for several years!

I’m a new patient there, went into today and the atmosphere was nice, welcoming, and clean. The receptionist are very nice and the dentist assistances are very knowledgeable and personable. The actual dentist, I forgot his name but he was great. You could really tell he cares and is funny and smart. Overall, a great experience and can’t wait to return.

I visited this place for a routine exam and was rather delighted by my experience. The front office staff was so kind and warm when they greeted me in the lobby. I had a short wait before I was introduced to my dentist for the first time, Dr. McDonough. He set me up with an exam by one of his assistants and she was kind and engaging. Dr. McDonough continued to check on me while the different practitioners performed there duties and it was such a pleasant and easy experience. The entire appointment took about 45 minutes, I left feeling like I had a better understanding of my problem areas and how to attend to them. I will definitely be returning and making this my dentist office for years to come.

Stay away!!! They are dishonest and rely on lies to cheat you out of money. I had insurance and they still over-​charged me in order to «double dip» even though I had a PPO. They will upsell you on everything and use fear as a sales tactic. The front office lady is a crook with no moral fiber. Their work is of poor quality and I had to go elsewhere to fix their sub-​standard dental work. Take your business elsewhere!

I really liked this dental office when I started going there. However, I spent thousands on my dental care, and most of it didn’t hold up. I’m in my early 30’s, not 60’s. A crown should last more than 6 months. One of the crowns fell out 3 separate times. After the last time, there was nothing they could do to get it back in. They told me I’d have to have what was left of the tooth extracted, and then have an implant. But wait?! Didn’t I just pay $ 1200 less than a year ago for that crown? When I brought up my concern, I was blown off. So I sit with a jacked up tooth rotting away in my mouth. When they opened their location in NP, I went there. I will be reviewing that location after this update, but it is no better. I’m going to find another dental office, which sucks because in the beginning, I really liked them. But when you pay top dollar for dental work, you expect it to last more than a few short months. Think before you spend the most $$ there.

This is a great dental facility. I drive an hour to come here and I’m glad I make the trip every time.
Dr McDonough and the team there really take their time to clean my teeth, make any repairs/​adjustments needed. Also they help me create and stick to a game plan to keep my teeth clean and heathy. since coming here I have felt much better about my teeth and over health of my mouth.
I really appreciate the staff and getting email alerts to remind me about upcoming appointments.
I highly recommend give this place a try, they really make an effort to take care of me.

Fantastic service, they took care of my needs immediately and planned my long-​term dental needs at a reasonable price. Dr. McDonough is a super star. All the employees are very friendly and courteous. I am a very cynical person and they sure pass the test they are great.

Been scared to go to a dentist for over a decade. This place is actually comfortable to be in. The staff were extremely friendly and felt like a family practice. All the equipment was clean and modern. Dentistry has been improved over the years and this dentistry is a fine example of that. I recommend anyone who is hesitant to go to a dentist to try this place out. Extremely clean and comfortable.

I recently moved to the Conejo Valley and started going to East Oaks Dental. Very glad that I found this office! It’s always difficult finding a new doctor or dentist when you move to a new area (especially since my previous dentist set the bar so high), but I am glad to say that I’ve now been to this office twice and both visits exceeded my expectations.
The front office staff is very friendly, the hygienists and dental team is very knowledgable and overall excellent. So far I’ve had two cleanings and a chipped tooth repaired; Dr. Dimitrakopoulos was my dentist both times. She made sure I was very happy with my treatment while sharing before and after photos of the work that was performed. I highly recommend this office.

NEVER thought I would give a dentist/​dental office a 5 star review, but I guess there is a first time for everything. LOL I’ve had (many) bad experiences with dentists in the past so I was somewhat hesitant about going in for my exam. It’s been a few years since I had good dental insurance so I was sure the dentist was going to take one look in my mouth and leave the room running in the opposite direction or tell me I was a horrible person for not keeping up on my dental visits. I couldn’t be more wrong.
First, the front office staff was amazing… when I called to arrange my original appointment they were very informative about what to expect when I came in and they helped ease my concerns and anxieties. The office itself is very inviting. When I arrived I was greeted by the office manager, Nicole, she very personable and helpful. After a short wait off to the chair I went… Nervously =/​
Turns out, what makes this office even more amazing was Dr. McDonough himself. I have never met a dentist who seemed so concerned with the overall comfort of each patient. Since I am (kind of a sissy lala) terrified of the dentist… I found it comforting when he explained every single procedure he would be doing, how he was going to do it and why he was doing it. I would highly recommend East Oaks Dental Group to my friends and family.

I came here to get my teeth whitened. The care was amazing! The people at the front desk were warm, I was seen on time, and the dental assistant was gentle and thorough. She took her time to explain everything as she did it (because I wanted to know) and took great care in making sure I was comfortable. Dr. McDonough came into the room many times throughout the procedure to check his assistant’s work as well as my experience. He was knowledgeable and made me feel that I was in very good hands.
Everyone was great and I would recommend East Oaks Dental Group to anyone.

My husband and I had gone here for a couple of years every 6 months and at the first appointment we felt that we had found a place that we actually liked. We went for our regular check ups every 6 months without a problem (well, mostly. They have a habit of cancelling appointments or scheduling appointments you never needed) until my husband needed to have some work done. $ 1,600 and months later he was still having tooth pain and other issues. Every time he would bring it up, they said the issue was with his bite and would grind the area down, but it never did any good. He decided to stop going to them after being passed around to three different dentists in the office and never getting the help he needed.
My experiences haven’t been that great either. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed, so I did and upon returning for my regular cleaning months later, they kept insisting that I still needed to have them removed. Seeing as how I had done it WITH THEIR OFFICE and they take x-​rays every visit, you would think they would figure out that no, I no longer had any wisdom teeth for them to remove!
Not too long after that, I started developing sensitivity in one of my teeth and I brought it to their attention thinking that there may have been a crack in the filling. The dentist quickly looked in my mouth, said it was nothing and told me to use Sensodyne toothpaste. I tried that out to no avail and brought up the issue again at the next appointment where I was told yet again that it was nothing. My last appointment, I saw yet another dentist (you never get the same dentist twice!) and when I mentioned the pain, she had no problems giving me a treatment plan that would cost THOUSANDS of dollars above my insurance costs (we have good insurance and it shouldn’t have cost us anywhere near that amount) and involved a whole mess of work that I truly believed I did not need — I really just needed the filling to be fixed/​redone.
They don’t listen to you or any concerns you bring up and as many others have mentioned, they always try to over charge or get you to pay for services you don’t need. After the last appointment we decided enough was enough and we will never be returning.

I’ve been duped too many times by this office. Got a crown they kept pressuring me for saying the filing would crack soon and would need a root canal, got it but paid way over my Co — pay for codes my insurance didn’t cover, nothing but pain and sensitivity since the crown was placed when I had no issues before. They sent me to their root canal specialist who looked at my X rays and said I needed a crown because of how close my root was to my tooth, which was because the crown was shorter and placed that close. My copay was 160 but they had these other codes that made it 670 that my insurance had no idea what the codes were. They only recommended that specialist and had to have my insurance company call them to let me get a second opinion from someone I picked. The second opinion was amazing and only 160 MY CO PAY! I will never go back here. I feel like I could never trust them

Ok, I’ve never tried Dr. Shaelan McDonough, but my husband did. The man did a good job the first time he saw him. He constantly checked in to see if he was feeling any pain. He didn’t push any work he didn’t really need done, even on a tooth that we knew would need a crown.
Had two deep cleanings there just recently, and he came out with a big smile saying he likes his dentist. If you knew my husband and and how he feels about dentists, that says volumes of great things. Give McDonough a try, but as with any dental office, ask ahead what you are being charged for, and the total cost before you get any work done.
