I did get a call from Mike Diamond Plumbing yesterday they wanted to explain their pricing. After a discussion they agreed to give me 200.00 back as a goodwill gesture. I give them credit for calling.

I wish negative stars were an option. Avoid this company at all costs.
I took off work to be available during their 9am to 1pm service window and am less than thrilled to report that they never called or showed up… but it gets worse.
I became nervous around noon after not hearing from them and gave them a call. The very sweet woman who answered my call was horrified to have to inform me that the «customer service» representative with whom I spoke «forgot to save» my reservation and that I’d have to speak to a dispatcher to see if a technician might be available.
The dispatcher, whom I would expect to be sympathetic, was quite hostile and unhelpful. The rude woman informed me that they had no technicians available and that she would cancel my order or pass it on to a company I’ve never heard of. She said that if I accepted this offer, they’d arrive by 2:30.
As I was in a bit of a bind, I accepted the third party technician. She promised that someone would call me immediately. I insisted that SHE call me back to confirm so I could be confident that it was going to be taken care of. SHE FLAT OUT REFUSED; telling me that it’s not her job. Are you kidding me? You waste half of my day and can’t be bothered to make a simple phone call?
Guess what… no one called.
I called them back. The very kind woman with whom I initially spoke answered again. She, clearly mortified, connected me directly with the 3^rd party company.
Guess what… the dispatcher simply passed my case on to this company without bothering to explain that Mike Diamond had dropped the ball.
The 3^rd party contractor informed me that there were «30 calls ahead of me» and they’d «try to get to me by 5:00.»
Mercifully, my cell-​phone dropped the call at that point and they never called back.
This «company» is an absolute joke. I’m going to try to fix the issue myself. I’d rather be electrocuted than give these imbeciles a dime of my money.
To Mike Diamond: Don’t bother responding with excuses or, worse, lies. You’ve done enough already.

I wanted to comment on a very disappointing experience with Mike diamond plumbing. I had booked an appointment for them to arrive between 9 AM and 1 PM. 1 PM came with no service/​call. At 1PM I called their customer service and spoke to the manager he insured me that he would call me back within 15 minutes. At 3:30 nobody had called me back so I called to cancel my appointment. I spoke with the same manager who told me that the technician would not be to my home before 4 o’clock today. I shared with the manager that I will not be using them in the future and would advise my friends to do the same.
Shame on me for not checking with Unilocal in advance of making the appointment. The many poor reviews here were consistent with the service that I received.

Called Mike Diamond because we had a pneumatic toilet that would not shut off. Came within the hour, 1 star. Plumber used a screwdriver to shut off the water at the valve, five minutes tops, presented us with an estimate of $ 1019.04 to repair and a bill for $ 75(Bill was understandable as we had him come on an emergency call, estimate not so much. Read on).
Checked youtube repair video. Replaced a $ 20 part in five minutes myself, now toilet works perfectly. Pass on these guys.

The first two of your your plumbers, who we used to unclog two drains last year, were all neat, clean and «smell good.»
However, the last plumber, who was called out to replace a broken toilet flush handle (part cost at local store about $ 15), quoted a cost of $ 385.41 (including service call charge of $ 76.41) to replace the flush handle. Instead, he pushed a toilet replacement, at a cost of about $ 799!!) We told him to just replace the handle. When he was done, we noted that there was practically no slack in new handle mechanism; the little chain that opens the flapper was short. The plumber claimed he had no pieces of chain in his enormous truck!
And, the plumber wouldn’t reverse the $ 76.41 service fee, even though we had him do the work. When my wife complained to the office, the fee was cancelled.
Summary: Initial quote was exorbitant. Plumber didn’t come with parts he should have had with him. Plumber didn’t seem to understand that service fee applied only if we refused work.

I listen to 1070 AM Talk Radio in Los Angeles as I go about my Day. The Mike Diamond Smell Good Plumber radio commercials state that ANY Clogged Drain will be unclogged for $ 99.00. So we had a clog at our home. This house is 5 bedroom Three Bathroom. We have Five Adults and Three Children from 2 to 6 years old living here. I called the 24 hour contact number, spoke to a young man name Ralph who set the appointment for the next day. After several frantic calls the Plumper «Eric» and his Field Manager arrived at about 11:00 AM. After walking around my home they told me there was no access to the clog in the back of the house and it would be cost $ 4,000.00 to $ 4,500.00 install the necessary line to reach the clog.
I called Kurt Bohmer Plumping Services. The plumber «Steve,» arrived in less than an hour and found the access line in about 1 minute. Steve had the clog cleared, cleaned up the back-​up in the bathtub and the trash from the clog in about 30 minutes and charged me $ 280.00. I would NEVER RECCOMMEND Mike Diamond to anyone! Call Kurt Bohmer Plumbing Services is the company that will take care of all my plumbing needs in the future. Thank you Steve!!! Thank you Kurt Bohmer-​you are the BEST!!!

Don’t use this company. Yes they promise $ 99 drain clear or it’s free. They came out and tried to clear my drain. The tech could not do it and did not charge me, but said he would have to bring his supervisor to camera the line and find out if the drain needed to be hydro jetted or fix some pipe. That sounded like big money to be. I instead called a local plumber and he cleared my drain in five minutes! And only charged $ 125. Please do yourself a favor and don’t call these guys.

Had a clogged toilet emergency in our loft in DTLA. I was refused service because they didn’t work past the 3^rd floor. The operator was not pleasant even after expressing our emergency. Their advertisement claiming to be available ²⁴⁄₇ and for emergencies is false: «We know plumbing emergencies can strike when you least expect. That’s why our local California plumbers are always on standby, ready to be at your doorstep with our fully-​stocked, eco-​friendly trucks.» Maybe you should put an asterisk next to this claim, you know letting us know there’s a disclaimer or fine print we should look into so we don’t have to waste our time when we have an emergency.

Had a technician out to my mom’s house to replace the nozzle for her shower. .my mom bought the wrong one for her shower and the guy looked on his truck and found he had sold the last one last night. He told her which one to buy at lowes. He explained how to replace it and did not charge her the service call. It’s nice to see that. Thanks Mike diamond plumbing.

I’ve been listening to their very entertaining radio commercials for years now. So I decided to give them a call to repair a leaky garden faucet.
A very courteous gentleman arrived in a plumbing truck the size of a moving van. He took a look at my automobiles, then at my neighbors automobiles, BEFORE inspecting the faucet. Afterwards, he quoted me $ 325 and said the job could be done in about an hour.
Of course, I disputed the price. He said, «Ma’am, this is going price for a garden faucet replacement. It’s really very reasonable. And if you don’t go for it, I’ll still end up charging you $ 99 for the service call. So come on, what do you want to do?»
Knowing that a faucet costs about $ 5 — $ 10 at a hardware store, I still questioned the cost. Then, the plumber took a second look at my cars and said, «I suppose I could get by with $ 260, if it’s all cash.»
Reluctantly, I agreed. The old faucet was removed and replaced in less than TEN minutes. I paid him in cash. When I asked for a receipt, he said, «I sorry ma’am, my receipt machine isn’t working right now. Call the office.» He slipped my cash into his pocket and sped away. I pretty sure I was scammed, hard.
Probably won’t use this firm ever again — and by the way, the office refused to give me a receipt!

FYI Mike Diamond plumbing company is a total scam! $ 647 dollars to replace a toilet flap and replacing a stainless steel water coil which took 20 minutes. Didn’t even have to move the toilet seat!!! Home Depot’s price for parts, $ 30 bucks. When I complained to branch manager «David» that as a teacher I don’t even make that in an hour, his response, «Well, we never said it was cheap!» Amid him questioning my intellect as a consumer. I told him I would blast social media, because this was bad business practice. He did lower the price to $ 400 after I reacted in protest. Just buyers beware… Mike Diamond Plumbing advertises on The Fish. I just assumed they would be reasonable. Nope, the opposite. Other competitors were $ 300 less. Managers response, «Not his competitor then.» I didn’t even get a gold plated coil! Shucks… never going to use them again. 0 stars!

What a scam! I’ve heard Mike Diamond commercials on the radio for years. They make themselves sound like such honest, reliable heroes. «Doesn’t matter if it’s a kitchen sink or a mainline sewer stoppage. The smell good plumbers at Mike Diamond will unclog almost any drain for $ 99.» Sounds too good to be true, right?
I had a clog that was causing my toilet and shower to back up. Knowing Mike Diamond could unclog *any* drain for just $ 99, I called them first. Their contractor from my area (Santa Clarita) came out and gave me a quote of $ 2400. Why? Because my house is over 50 years old, they didn’t build a two-​way clean-​out, so he would have to dig up the mainline drain and change out the pipe fitting. Unfortunately, he said, that would be the only way to unclog my drain. I said was way too much and not at all the price or capabilities that they advertise. The plumber/​salesman became very agitated. «What, so you’re not going to do it?! Why would you want to call someone else? I’ve been doing this for 25 years; I know what can and can’t be done.»
Then I called the plumber that my family has been using for years. He was able to remove the toilet and snake the pipes through the 3″ drain pipe. It took him a couple of hours and he charged $ 250. While it was more than the $ 99 I was hoping to pay, it’s obvious from all of the reviews here that Mike Diamond’s $ 99 advertised price is a myth. By calling for a second opinion, I was able to save 90% off the price I was quoted from Mike Diamond.

The condensation pump on my heating/​ac unit wasn’t switching off. I could have have easily fixed this myself. The part was readily available and cost around $ 40.00. I called Mike Diamond thinking I should let the experts take care of it. They did not make by the time they said and then called stating it would have to wait until the following day.
The next day they showed, and after troubleshooting the issue, I was told that it would cost $ 1000.00 to fix. I showed him the pump on amazon and said, that is a $ 40 part and an hour at most to replace. How as this coming up to 1k? I was shown «The Book» with the list prices and was told No Negotiating. I asked him leave, this was unethical.
I was charged a $ 99 diagnostic fee and the guy never touched the unit. After he left, I pulled it apart and noticed the water was dirty not allowing it to switch off. After cleaning, worked like a charm.
So I paid $ 99.00 to be told that I need to pay another $ 1000.00 when the only thing needed was a cleaning? Those action are consistent with «Smelling Good».

I called for a quote on a new garbage disposal, and they wanted to send a technician and charge me for the estimate. They should have set prices for those cut and dry services. They claim to be able to give you an upfront price with no surprises, yet, that is false. What if the technician showed up and wanted to charge me $ 300 to remove and replace my garbage disposal? If I said no, I would still be charged the service call. That is BS. Not a good business ethic.

STAY AWAY THEY ARE TRYING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY
I called The Smell Good Plumbers to come fix/​replace a hot water heater. After charging me $ 75 for the honor of his presence, Rafael wrote up an absolutely ridiculous quote.
$ 756 for a water pressure regulator that I don’t need.
$ 99 for a «one year maintenance plumbing protection agreement»
$ 2723 for a new hot water heater with 6-​year warranty, or $ 3195 for a 10 year warranty.
AND they wanted to charge me $ 118 for the city permit, which costs $ 60.
Then, inexplicably, he gives me 15% off, making it only about twice as much as it should be. Truly, truly, truly, trying to rob people.
I ended up having Home Depot install it (via a subsidiary called Fast Water Heater Co.) The guy was great, the service was fast, and it came to $ 1200 with a 9-​year warranty, including the permitting.

Tried to snake the kitchen sink clog myself, but ran out of coil. My husband didn’t trust me to rent a machine, so he calls Mike Diamond. Frank (mentioned in an earlier post by another Unilocaler) comes out, gets about 10 feet in the line, then claims the line is blocked. Funny… I was able to snake 25 ft. myself. Frank literally disappears, drives away. We call Mike Diamond to send him back to fix the clog. Frank sheepishly returns only to announce that we either need a $ 400 hydro-​jet (see many other reviews for this same scam) or a $ 3800 repipe. We sent him on his way and called someone our neighbor recommended, Jim Sullivan Electrical and Plumbing (West Hills). He came out and fixed the issue in less than an hour, for $ 60. Lesson learned… call Jim first.

Epic fail.
They claim they work on floor furnaces as not many companies do anymore. I don’t remember the plumbers name… I do know he seemed as though he’s never worked on a floor furnace. He went under the house said he couldn’t reach it and had to cut a gas line (nonsense). I mentioned he could reach it if he went from under the kitchen… his response «I don’t want to do it, call another company.» I had waited over 3 hours for them. I called the manager and all he said was «I am sorry» with a slight chuckle. So we had to go a week in a 51 degree house.
Long Beach Heating and Air came a week later and fixed my furnace within 15 minutes.
My advice is don’t ever use Mike Diamond or George Brazil plumbing if you need any work done, very unprofessional.
They deserve minus stars.

We had a backup in our main line so we called Mike Diamond to come out and have a look. We were quoted $ 99 for the call but would not charge if they weren’t able to fix the problem.
The technician Max came out when promised, ran a snake and told us that the snake he had wasn’t long enough and we would probably need to hydrojet the line for about $ 430. He gave us some options to keep the line functional and told us which parts to get at Home Depot instead of charging us up the wazoo for parts out of his service truck.
And since they were not able to fix the problem, the service call was no charge as promised.
No complaints here.

If I could leave fewer stars you bet I would. I set up an appt yesterday for someone to come out and diagnose the reason for the leak in my sink, and install the dishwasher. I was quoted a $ 76.41 service fee, but was told I couldn’t get an estimate on the cost of the work only the plumber could do that. Okay I can live with that. I waited around all day, took a day off work because he was supposed to be here between 1 – 3, he finally showed up at 4:15, after I called to check on him.
He diagnosed that the leak was caused by the open dishwasher line. Okay, he gets his price book and tells me it will cost between $ 522.32−614.50 (i would have to join the club for$ 99 to get the better price). When I told him I wasn’t interested he seemed shocked, then proceeded to defend the price.
So long story short I spent $ 76.41 to tell the plumber I wasn’t interested. He didn’t even cap off the dishwasher line. They may not smell bad, but their business practices and prices do.

Made (on Sunday) an appointment for an air conditioning check for Tuesday between 9 am and 1 pm. Took time off work to be available. Called the office at 10:14 am to confirm and was told that the technician would arrive close to 1 pm. Subsequently received a call from the office at 10:40 am saying they had no technician in my area today and would not be able to make the service call.
So much for good, let alone any, customer service.
