The Camp TC – Thousand Oaks

Yesterday when I attended my Monday weigh in, after I got weighed I got the good news I passed my 20 pound 6 week challenge in 3 weeks, I lost 20.2 pounds in 3 weeks. I am so happy ! And I’m not stopping I just begun :) Thanks to all the Staff at Camp TC– Thousand Oaks, and the people who work out with me. They know who they are !

Skeptical? Yes. 20 pounds in 42 days? Yeah, right! Read all the reviews. Doubted the good ones, worried about the bad ones. I kept saying no and making excuses. Had many friends that I trust go through the program and were successful… but still kept saying maybe next challenge. (I had injured myself severely a year ago — hence the weight gain, but also I had a built in excuse) so when I called a friend to set up a wine tasting trip and she said not for 6 weeks, I knew what was up. 24 hours later I was signed up and set to go! I had more than 20 pounds to lose but reached my goal in the first round. So here it is in a nutshell… put in the work everyday and it is hard work. Push yourself and be strong. Make the time for working out. It’s literally 1 hour a day in and out of the door. And that’s the easy part. The hard part is breaking all of the bad habits I had developed nutritionally. Get over the ‘picky eater’ nonsense, the need for white carbs, and start eating clean. Then you will realize that food is just fuel for your body. It’s a bonus if it actually tastes good. I practiced different recipes and got creative with the foods that were allowed and even my family enjoys eating clean even though they don’t know it. Each allowed food is chosen for its different healthy properties, so I made the best of it. And then to top it all off, I had to stop wasting all those calories/​carbs/​sugars in a glass! I love my wine but at some point it stopped being worth it. The wine came back to bite me in the butt, literally. Like I said, hard work. But with the help of awesome trainers, encouraging staff who really cared about me, and the support of a friend, and a private facebook group full of tips and positivity, it was made easier. Do the work. Eat Right. It really does work. Don’t give up. Trust the system. And here begins my 2^nd round…

False Advertising Alert for anyone in the Conejo Valley:
I don’t ever rant on social media, but I dislike false advertising!
A company called «The Camp», who runs gyms out of Newbury Park and Oxnard have been running ads on Facebook for a «FREE» 6 week weight loss challenge. They claim you must have 20 lbs or more to lose and you must attend an orientation where they will evaluate each prospective contender and choose a selective (undisclosed) amount of people for this «FREE» challenge.
I decided to apply for a spot and soon after I received a multitude of text messages and emails from The Camp telling me to hurry in for one of the orientations they were running. Unfortunately, by the time they responded to my request, I couldn’t attend their orientation so I wrote back as such and asked that I be kept on the list for the next challenge.
I then receive an email stating that the «free» challenge was filled up, no more spots available. In the same day, in the afternoon, I received an email stating that two people had suddenly dropped out due to family emergency and there was a space open if I wanted it but I would have to act fast. I called them right away and stated I was I very interested. I was told to come in the next day to fill out paperwork, weigh in and receive a «food bible». At only days before the challenge was to start, I found it strange that I was going to be accepted without attending an orientation, OR being evaluated to be chosen as one of the «FREE» contestants. Surely their were 100’s of people lined up desperately wanting to be one of the chosen few to participate in this challenge and better their life. Wouldn’t they have revisited another contender who was told there were no more spots available? I had my reservations, but still decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.
When I entered the gym, two women were ahead of me getting a quick sales pitch for the very challenge I had come in (by appointment) to sign up for. I’m pretty sure I was told in two different emails the day before that there were two last minute openings, yet there were 3 of us standing there for the same challenge. That was the first of many untruths by this company.
As I listened to the conversation, I heard the female behind the counter tell the other two women that there is a $ 495 deposit due up front and you have the option of getting that back after the 6 week challenge ONLY if you lose 20 lbs, or more. My jaw fell to the ground. And of course, I am now noticing the book shelves and refrigerator stocked full of their products that they will of course be encouraging you to purchase. AND on top of that, you are required to Check In on Facebook a minimum of 21 times to advertise for them. So in other words, you’re paying them $ 495 and they get free advertising for 21 days. You better pray to God (if you don’t have one, find one) that you lose that 20 pounds!
Not ONCE was the $ 495 ever mentioned in their advertising, no disclaimers of any source. None of their «client» reviews mentioned a deposit, even from those who stated they didn’t lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks.
By the way, the two women in front of me were thin and definitely didn’t have anywhere near 20 pounds to lose. One of them even announced that she teaches exercise classes and was concerned that she didn’t have 20 pounds to lose. I lost it when the sales person said, «Oh, you’ll definitely be able to lose 20. We had a trainer in here recently who lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks.» Did she just hear what she said? He lost 13, NOT 20 which is required to get your $ 495 deposit back.
They advertised it as «you must have 20 pounds or more to lose.» Obviously that was a lie. How many people have they duped into walking through their doors with false hope?!
After I called them out on their false advertising and scam qualities and let them know that my daughter paid $ ²¹⁄₆ weeks of the exact same program in San Diego, I left. Since this interaction, my daughter’s trainer has recommended another gym Up this way with the same core values and no hidden fees.
I’m very aware that nothing in life is really «FREE», but $ 495 is a very long way from «FREE»!

Update — I have just completed my 2^nd challenge. After 12 weeks of FTDI and great workouts I’ve lost a total of 41.7lbs; 20lbs first challenge and 21.7 second challenge. I can’t find the right words to express how great this place is! This program provides me with the structure, instruction and accountability that I needed to live a heather and fit life. Something gyms couldn’t provide me. Thanks again to the wonderful staff, trainers and co-​members who make this experience fun and motivating!

My challenge started ⁴⁄₁₈. I can honestly say my experience at The Camp changed my life! I have never been able to combine both diet and exercise in order to reach my weight loss goals. I have joined gyms before, but I keep saying what a unique concept it is to require challengers to exercise 5 days a week! Even the Facebook check ins help to hold us accountable. The added bonus of having friends like and comment on those posts have definitely motivated and encouraged me!
The diet is strict, basically clean eating. I enjoy the structure, because I do not have self control in that area. It includes lean protein, healthy carbs and vegetables. Adding protein shakes throughout the day, I was always satisfied, not hungry at all.
Drinking the required gallon of water a day was a challenge. I didn’t monitor it closely at first, and I believe I became dehydrated at one point. I bought a water bottle that makes it easy to track water consumption and breaks it down into hourly increments, helping me to get that full gallon in.
About The Camp: I love the experience here! Unlike any other gym. I commented before that they make it work here. They run hourly group circuit training classes mornings and evenings with a trainer. The trainers are encouraging and were always there pushing me to do more. There are people with a variety of fitness levels in the same class. The fit members use heavier weights, workout faster, and do more reps… in order to get a great workout. I felt comfortable with every exercise, and I could modify any exercise if I felt my body wasn’t up to it. I still protect my knees a lot, not doing as many jumping exercises… and I learned that I’m not good at jump roping, so I do jumping jacks to keep my heart rate up when that is required. The classes are pure cardio, which is what my doctor recommended for me. The classes are fast paced, with a warm up and cool down with proper stretches. The fast paced often loud music keeps us moving quickly.
I am so excited to have beat Challenge #1, losing 21.8 lbs in 6 weeks! I rolled my $ over to Challenge #2 starting ⁶⁄₆. I had plans to join as a member if I didn’t meet that 20 lbs goal, because I love it here! The trainers and staff are amazing!

If you are someone who needs motivation and a push to get you moving. The Camp is definitely for you!!! I’ve yoyo’d most of my life with my weight and always felt like I lacked the dedication required to accomplish my goal. I would always start out strong and quit before the goal was accomplished. The camp has kept me accountable, honestly, having you front the money was a genius idea!!! You will have days when you want to quit or cheat. But knowing you have to get that money back is a huge incentive to keep you going and honest. The trainers are awesome! The workouts are hard but doable and very rewarding. Losing the weight and making your goal is beyond words amazing. But the daily accomplishments you experience just tops it all. You find yourself doing things you never thought possible and it just totally makes your day! :) the camp was the best investment I could have made for myself. I feel great and my clothes fit better then ever. I’m a very happy girl! :)
when I joined the camp I had no intention to stay and join. It becomes addicting! I’ve rolled my deposit over to a membership!

Today I completed a 6 week 20lb weight loss challenge at The Camp in Thousand Oaks. Thanks to the great team at The Camp, I was able to meet and exceed the goal by losing 22.5lbs in 6 weeks. The classes are a great workout, the instructors are dedicated, and the fellow challengers are all about helping to motivate each other. It’s a special place.
I’m about to start my 2^nd challenge
and would recommend The Camp to anyone looking to shed unwanted pounds, get in shape, and feel great.
As someone that has battled with weight since I was young, I would especially recommend that anyone that knows someone younger (teens /​young adults) that would benefit from being in a supportive non-​judgmental environment that will push them and hold them accountable, please suggest they come check this place out as it could dramatically improve their lives and help to turn things around sooner rather than later.

In June of last year I aggravated an old back injury while working out, which left me in a lot of pain and discomfort and physically unable to participate in my regular workout routines. As time passed and I became more and more inactive, as well as fall in to bad eating habits, the weight began to slowly pack on. After a six-​month period of inactivity I knew that I had to do something to get back to my old self. A few of my friends/​coworkers joined The Camp, and immediately I saw a huge transformation in them. So knowing my situation they encouraged me to join The Camp and get back to working out. At first, I was very hesitant because I had finally gotten myself to the point where I could start working out again, so I didn’t want to reinjure myself. They assured me that the workouts were tough, but if needed I can make adjustments to ensure that I would not suffer another injury. I took their advice, and I am extremely glad that I did because it has brought me back to the happy, confident, and healthy person that I once was.
This program does take a lot of hard work and dedication to ensure that you meet the weight loss goal, but if you FTDI (follow the damn instructions) you will be successful. It does require that you workout five times a week in a group setting with a trainer guiding you through your workout. Classes are scheduled at various times during the day, which makes it possible for anybody to attend. I personally would mostly go to the 4am workout, and then head off to school or work. The meal plan is very restrictive and you must eat every 2.5 to 3 hours, but it has strategically been designed to aid you in your weight loss process. I know it sounds crazy, but it can be done.
Although, my goal was to get back to my original pre-​injury weight my ultimate goal was to be physically active again. The Camp has given me back that opportunity to be physically active, regain my strength, and ultimately get me back to a healthier lifestyle. I have encouraged family and friends to join The Camp, and begin their own transformation. Thank you to my family, friends, and trainers at The Camp (Dana, Avery, Chris, Hasan, Laterrian) who encouraged me every step of the way. I couldn’t have done it without you.

I came in for a deal they were running — was told I didn’t have enough weight to lose. Huh? Didn’t offer me any other type of training or package. Didn’t weigh me, measure me, etc. would have liked to check this place out. The lady at the front was super nice despite this. I would recommend only because she seemed genuinely displeased to turn me away

I joined the Camp at age 66 to lose weight, look better, and feel better. I never dreamed I would have the discipline to make it to 6 AM workouts and FTDI, and I DID IT! Surpassed the weight loss goal of 20 pounds in 6 weeks by losing 21.1 lbs. Totally worth it and I’m doing another challenge. It’s not on my bucket list to be a 67 year old super hero with a buff body, but if it happens, oh well! Great trainers and staff. Best part is the support from fellow campers!

If you want to lose weight and get in shape this is the place to go! I did not work out very much and ate poorly. The Camp taught me everything i needed to know to reach my goal! Eating clean and working out is the answer! I am over 50 years old and menopausal! I lost 21lbs in 6 weeks. It taught me how to work past my fears and kick butt! It’s not easy or everyone would do it! That’s why it’s called a challenge! Follow the Dam instructions! (FTDI) This was my first challenge and i am going to do another one because I can get better! Come to the Camp Transformation Center you wont be disappointed!

I came to the Camp w/​a friend who already lost 40lbs, and was in an alumni challenge to lose an additional 15lbs. She went to the 4am workouts and despite how good she looked, we all swore she was insane for getting up that early. She insisted that the workouts were «amazing and totally worth it»! I went on a 3 day pass and I was instantly addicted! I too now go to the 4am classes Monday-​Friday and encourage others to join the Camp as well.
As far as the Challenge goes, you do sign a legal contract with many stipulations in order to receive your deposit back. If you FTDI (follow the damn instructions), you will get your money back. Double check & then have a friend check that you have completed all the requirements in addition to the weight loss. Yes, you can find a similar diet plan for free online, however it is the camp trainers and family feeling that keep you motivated and moving in the right direction.
The 4am trainers are absolutely incredible, encouraging and challenging in their own ways. Dana is the Cardio Queen and will give you a run for your money every time. Laterrian and Avery are amazing at strength training and truly want you to be your very best self. Even so early, the energy is always high and encouraging. We have a varied mix of ages, strengths and amount of pounds that need to be lost in the 4am class and we are all equally challenged. Such variations in the class population & their individual needs, really speaks to the skill of the trainers. The trainers are there to help you in your journey in anyway that they can — they want you to be successful!
The classes are welcoming and there is definitely camaraderie within the groups, challengers and non challengers alike. They are there to support you as well, so if you’re thinking of joining, try a 3 day pass and talk to those who have been going. I guarantee that they will tell you joining the CampTC has changed their lives for the better, and they are never going back to the weight they were before.

Scam! They advertise a FREE 6-​week weight loss challenge. However, what they won’t tell you is you have to put up $ 497.00 upfront, and in order for you to get your money back, you have to meet ALL pre set conditions. You miss one, you lose your $$. In additon, if you post your concerns in their FB page, they will delete your post instead of addressing your concerns. Just beware, there is No such thing as Free!

Thank you CAMP TRANSFORMATION! The word transformation says it well. That’s what happened to me. I was the heaviest I had ever been, was doubting if I could even get back in better shape and then… a friend introduced me to your program. In addition to OVER 20lbs lost, I’m stronger, am in better cardio shape and healthier! Follow the rules, trust the process and this WILL work for you! It did for me!

Don’t wait another day. Just go. You will not regret this decision and before you know it you will be feeling better about pretty much everything. I haven’t been consistent about exercise and nutrition in years and I needed the support to make some changes and that is exactly what the camp gave me! Commit, take it serious and do your very best and everything else will fall into place. We aren’t all athletes and supermodels, we are real people who want to look and feel better and we took a leap of faith to try something new. Now it is your turn! What have you got to lose?

Wow! What can I say? I lost 21.5 pounds in 6 weeks. This has been a tough journey but I couldn’t be happier I went through it. I am stronger not only physically but mentally as well. I accepted the task and accomplished the goal. I also signed up for challenge #2! I am so excited to continue on my weight loss journey. I love The Camp! The trainers are tough and motivating! Follow the rules and you too can succeed. It is definitely not easy but soooooooo worth the results!!!

I love this place !! I went in with doubts and I can’t believe I did. I was wrong. This place is what it says a true camp transformation not only in the outside but in the inside I’ve never been or have felt so secure within myself

Let me start this with I am not someone who enjoys working out or dieting. It has been s struggle for my whole life to find balance with my health. This 6 week camp opened my eyes to what I was capable of and made me feel amazing in my health and in several other aspects of my life.
This camp has completely pushed me to reach a goal I never thought that I could reach with health and weight loss. The camp is an awesome blend of weights and cardio. It pushes you to try your hardest and results will follow. The trainers are amazing and Latarrian is my personal favorite.
I have a ways to go on my journey to a healthy me, but I am so glad to be taking it with The Camp! I’m starting another 6 week program as of July 20^th and I couldn’t be more excited!

If you are tired of the weight and have the motivation this is the place for you. The owners, trainers and staff are the most amazing set of people. They are there with you to fight the fat off. They encourage you every step of the way. If you are ready to change your life and lose 20 lbs with out giving excuses this is the place for you! I have learned how to appreciate my body again. I know how to nourish it and I know that I can push myself hard when I workout.
