The Cat Doctor

Dr. Kendra is an unbelievable talent! Our regular Vet told us nothing can be done for our new 3 month old kitten. He said the kitten was too weak and skinny to get fluids administered and to take him home, hope for the best and force feed him some $ 30 paste that he recommended! My wife found «the cat Doctor» online and we took «Ramsey» directly to her. She was able to give fluids and some other medicines. We took him home at 1lb 3oz. On deaths door. Dr. Kendra called from her personal phone and kept in touch with us throughout the ordeal. (We never heard a word from our old Vet). Well he is now 7lbs and healthy as can be! I’ve had two cats live beyond 15 years of age and a few different vets. I will only go to her and advise anyone and everyone to as well. Thank you again Dr. Kendra you get the «MVD» award. (Most valuable Doctor). Your expertise and knowledge saved my kittens life!!!

Took my car/​vet-​phobic cat to The Cat Doctor for the first time and was thrilled with the kind, honest and personalized service that Dr. Kendra provided. «George» needed lab work and x-​rays in advance of receiving treatment from a specialist and Dr. Kendra was on top of every detail including calling the specialist to confirm what was needed to promptly emailing the necessary information. She even copied the information on a CD for me to take with me! When it became clear that George’s bladder was not full enough to provide a sample, she offered to let him stay all afternoon in the exam room with a bowl of water and some food so that he would not have to suffer through a second car ride (free of charge and worked like a charm). She also personally performed one key component of the urinalysis on-​site to spare me from having to wait for the results from the outside lab. As for the charges, I found them to be competitive and fair as compared to other vets that I have recently visited.

I cannot say enough about The Cat Doctor. My cat Lupé was very sick last week. After an all nighter in the Animal ER in Reseda suffering from constipation and major pain in her abdomen. We called The Cat Doctor to follow up with her care. We took her to see Dr. Kendra and I finally felt at peace after my cat saw her.
The office is cats only, very spacious and clean, they even have a cute fireplace in the lobby. Its peaceful and put me at ease right away. Lupé was still in major pain when we arrived. So a nice front office staff helped to ease us right away. We were taken right into a room within 3 minutes of arriving.
Blake was the assistant and he is wonderful. He was so sweet with my cat who doesnt tend to like men, she loved him! Even despite how uncomfortable she was, his kindness won her over :) He asked several questions and was quite thorough. Very professional and again, truly kind.
Dr. Kendra is wonderful. She treated my kitty for pain right away. We then came up with a treatment plan together for her. She got right to the problem and was as thorough as could be! She was kind, authentic, and a real class act. Her treatment plan worked and my little cat is happier than ever and completely on the mend.
We are truly grateful to the people at The Cat Doctor for helping us at a very stressful time. Dr. K even called me personally this morning to check on my baby. We will take her here for her regular vet check ups from now on!

In early July, I made reservations to board my three cats in mid-​August for 10 nights at The Cat Doctor’s boarding facilities. During the process of making the reservations, I was told about their promotions that every 4 nights of boarding earns a 5^th night free. I was also told that we would require an exam for each cat and that because we are a new client our cats’ exams would be free. I asked the person helping me to send me the quote to my email and she did. BTW, all these promotions that they offer are listed on their website which I confirmed.
It’s now mid August (the day before I am supposed to bring our cats in for boarding), so I googled their phone number to call and confirm our reservations. A girl answered the phone and I told her that I want to confirm my boarding reservations with them. She responded that they are not a boarding facility and asked me if I have dialed the correct establishment. I was pretty certain that I had dialed the correct place, so I tried to explain the «what when and where» of me initially contacting them back in July. I told her that I was even emailed a quote by them. She insisted that they don’t normally board animals and that they are an Animal Hospital.
Believing now that I must have called the wrong place, I told her that I needed to inspect my emailed quote to see who sent it to me. Well, the email was from The Cat Doctor and I had dialed the correct number.
So, I called back again and a guy answered the phone. In the middle of me ONCE AGAIN having to explain everything about my reservations, we somehow got disconnected.
So, I called back a third time, and got a different girl. This time it’s the girl who sent me the quote back in July. I was pretty frustrated at this point and told her about the first girl not having a clue about them being a boarding facility for animals.
After several minutes of me venting my frustration over that huge bit of misinformation, we finally get past all that, and now I’m trying to confirm my reservation that SHE MADE in July.
She proceeded to tell me that my cats’ will need to be examined by the vet. She said the exam for one cat will be free but I’ll have to pay something like $ 55 each (over$ 100) to examine the other two before they can be boarded in spite of their very own website promotion for free cat exams for first time clients. Now she’s telling me I have to pay for two cat exams before boarding the cats? Wow, I’d expect this kind of bill padding garbage from a used car mechanic where they’re looking for ANY excuse to pad the bill, but from a place that should be somewhat professional and honor their own website promotions?
I snapped. I told her that not only was I told BY HER that the «new client» intial exams would be free when I made the reservations but my quote she sent to me also shows no charge for that service AND even their website says that new client’s first time pet exams are free.
The girl apologized and said she would go talk to a technician in the back to see what could be done. At that point, I’m furious in that I’ve done all this planning for our vacation and I’m now having to screw with this nonsense the day before we’re suppose to board our pets. She finally comes back on the phone and tells me that the technician will go ahead and examine two cats for free but we still have to pay for the third. She offered to talk to the owner when they came in later on to see if that other charge could be waived.
Feeling like I may be stuck and have no choice but to go with these clowns, I told her to hold the reservation for now and I will call her back. I then desperately began looking for ANY pet boarding facility within a 30 mile radius of Thousand Oaks to put my cats in. Luckily, it only took a few minutes and I found one, with much higher Unilocal ratings than this place, which if I had paid attention to the low Unilocal rating of The Cat Doctor to begin with, I would have never chosen them.

Had a great experience with Dr. Kendra and her staff, especially her assistant, Blake. They obviously all love cats and treat your pet as if he was one of their own. We took our 5 year old cat in for a teeth cleaning because a different vet’s office examined his mouth for about 10 seconds and concluded that he would need extractions. Wanting a second opinion from a specialist, we went to Dr. Kendra who spent a lot of time with us explaining the procedure, her initial thoughts as well as some preventative teeth cleaning measures.
Turns out he didn’t need any extractions! His teeth and gums look great now. They even fed him lunch while he was recovering from the anesthesia.
Whenver we need a vet, we will be visiting the Cat Doctor from now on. Thanks so much.

Very pleased so far. I’ve bounced around to different area vets and have rarely been satisfied with the care. Misdiagnoses, ineffective prescriptions and outrageously expensive «treatment recommendations» have been my consistent experience across the board. I got two new kittens (with health problems) and decided to try The Cat Doctor. Dr. Kendra has been really wonderful. She spends a lot of time explaining things and clearly loves the cats. She makes personal follow-​up calls and has handily treated everything. I’m so thankful!

So far so good. We’re moving to Thousand Oaks next year so decided to start our new kittens at this vet in the area. We chose it solely based on the fact that they (obviously) specialize in cats. Dr. Kendra is very personable and clearly has genuine affection for the cats. She makes the follow up calls personally. I really like that. Stay tuned!

I’ve written a review on The Cat Doctor before which was also 5 stars a long time ago when I first started coming here but felt the need to express my love and gratitude for them again after a recent experience this morning. I’ve been coming here for 3 years and cannot begin to explain how wonderful they are. Dr. Kendra is an amazing vet with so much compassion for our kitties. She does everything she can to take care of our babies and even us. I’m so thankful to have her as our doctor. Renee and Cindy are also staff members that have been so great to us. I would never take my cats anywhere else. Thank you so much for your kindness and excellent care. I appreciate all of you and everything you do.

When my cat became ill over the holidays she gave me her personal cell# and called me daily to check up on him.
WOW, never have we had such an attentive caring vet.
The staff is professional and loving as well.
We feel very fortunate to have found such a place as this.

Hanna went in for her soft paw application this evening… NOT her favorite thing to get done! :-O
But, the technicians are wonderful with her. They only got one or two hisses and a couple of spats this time! Getting better…
Awesome service, love Dr. Kendra! She took such good care of our late Sneekers; we had him almost 17 years and we miss him dearly.

Thank you to Dr. Kendra for taking the time to examine my kitties, explain their prior test results from our other vet to me and give me great suggestions on how to care for their teeth and coat. In response to the other reviews about price, I thought Cat Doctor was comparable to our other vet and in fact they looked at the most cost effective options for both cats, recommending I wait until my little gal needed dental cleaning to perform her blood work. Also Dr. Kendra kindly cleaned some tartar of my boy cats teeth and his breath is much more pleasant :) Thanks to the whole staff for a great first experience!

An exceptionally knowledgeable and considerate practice. I truly appreciate Dr. Kendra’s expertise and incredible patience with my ornery guy. She is absolutely one in a million! Additionally, after a challenging period, Dr. Rodger provided the exact diet guidance that helped Giovanni return to a healthier weight. My cat used to receive care from Dr. Lovelace who was also outstanding. Overall, these veterinarians are exceptional, highly responsive, caring individuals who truly love their cat patients.

I just don’t see how you could not like this place. I had an emergency need for a grooming on a seriously dirty cat because I had to send him to a new home. I just could send him in the condition I found him in. They saw me the same day, told me exactly what the various charges would be. They told me there was an Internet coupon available which saved me a $ 50 exam fee. I gave them the ok for anesthesia which would have been an additional charge. They did not use it and they could have done it to inflate the bill but they didn’t. The place is clean and the staff were more than helpful. I am so glad that I found this place. They love cats. In fact Mikey who yowled the whole way going there was totally calm when I picked him up. He seemed to enjoy the time there. I think this is the place to go if you have cat needs.

I love that I can communicate freely with the staff and doctors at The Cat Doctor. They call when they have test results, updates when my cat has had major surgery and are truly compassionate about what they do. I LOVE the doctors, the assistants and even C.C., the receptionist!

Dr Kendra has been treating my cat Annie for the past few years. She is so well informed, and always makes me aware of what tests and treatments are available. Although Annie was diagnosed with hyperthyroid and kidney disease over a year ago, she is still doing well under Dr Kendra’s care.
I am also so indebted to the receptionist, Cici (sp?) — she has always been cheerful and helpful. When I call, I know they will recognize both Annie and me. The staff also follows up on Annie’s well being and reminds me of appointments. It’s nice to feel like Annie is not just one of a bazillion cat patients.
Yes, as others have mentioned, the Cat Doctor is not a bargain vet. However, I feel the knowledge, compassion and personal service is priceless.

We didn’t have a regular vet for my cat (thankfully, he never got sick), but when he did a friend recommended the Cat Doctor. I took him in and was impressed by the professional office staff and doctors that we saw. Unfortunately, our cat passed away from his illness, but during the 2 weeks that he was being treated, I felt that the doctors explored all of the treatment options, and explained them to me. When it came time for us to send our cat off to kitty heaven, I was comforted by the staff and the doctor and felt that he was going to be well taken care of. We now have a new kitty, which we adopted from the Camarillo shelter and have already taken him to see the Cat Doctor. I was very fortunate to have received my friend’s recommendation to visit the Cat Doctor.

I have been taking my cats to The Cat Doctor for over 11 years now. I love that it specializes in cats only. It’s always so calm and quiet when I walk in, no barking dogs. My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2002 and with all their care and knowledge they helped me keep my cat alive for 9 more years. For me it is like coming home every time I walk in; the staff is wonderful, the Doctors are amazing and I wouldn’t bring my new cat to anyone but The Cat Doctor!

Love Dr. Darcie & her super attentive, cat-​loving Technicians! They were so thorough that they even found an abcess on Boo Kitty’s paw and that wasn’t even what brought Boo in.
Dr. Darcie really loves animals and is down to earth. She explains everything and even called the next day to see how Boo was doing.
I did have to minus one star cause the receptionist is cranky. Remember that movie «Shallow Hal?» Remember the pretty brunette who looked old & ugly because she was mean? The receptionist looks and acts like her. :(

Please do not take your cat here. My cat was denied access to her primary vet, the owner, upon my request when she was ill. She was denied good care by the attending vet and her health was put at great risk by this incompetent idiot. In my opinion, these people should not be licensed to practice.
As I experienced after my ordeal, the owner, Dr. _​d arcy, is one cold, heartless person. She referred to my baby as «the cat» when speaking of her after her DEATH, when previously, she always referred to her by name. It takes a really cold «you know what» to refer to her patients like that to their owners’ faces after they DIED! It was horrible to realize that I had been taking my baby to a vet like this.
I IMPLORE YOU NOT USE THIS VET CLINIC OR THE ONE IN VENTURA!
