Thousand Oaks High School

First I’d like to respond to Naneet L’s review. I wonder why you feel like people are against you at Thousand Oaks High School. What changes do you need to make to feel more welcomed there? Often the answer is right there and the person in question does not want to see that the obstacle is yourself. I can tell you from many years of experience as a parent of three TOHS students (28,19,17) that the office stuff is kind and very helpful. My children never had a complaint about them; but my children are respectful and friendly towards the people who work there. After all, why do my kids or you go to the office? You go there because you need something from them. So, put your ego down, humble down and treat the people working there the way you want to be treated. At TOHS you can be as successful as you wish to be; it’s mostly up to you.

My son attends. He attended a small parochial school before this so I was a little nervous… the staff is incredible and cares. The quality of education is very high as well… he’s in some AP classes as well as CP classes… the student body is great as well… all the friends he’s made are great kids. He’s involved in a sport there and the coaching has been really good. I’d recommend it!

This is an excellent school. My daughter enrolled this year and both staff and students have been very kind. The teaching seems to be excellent, as well.

This school is a sorry disappointment. We came here to watch a water polo game, and after driving 30 miles, they had the nerve to charge us 6 bucks per person to get in to watch our own kids! Shame on you ! I’ve been to hundreds of schools and never was charged to watch a high school water polo game.

WELL. It’s SCHOOL. But I guess once you’re graduated it isn’t too bad ;) Most teachers are amazing, and most staff as well. You are VERY lucky if you get Mrs. Beaudoin, Mr. Del Sesto, or Mr. Sheridan. And most definitely take dance instead of P. E! Mrs. Murphy and all the coaches are amazing. So many things and tips I could tell you if you’re going to be new to T. O just give me a message! Campus apparently is getting cleaned up, but classrooms, lockers, bathroom, cafeteria, etc, is getting very old. Still a pretty good school though! Especially if you’re looking for a school with a good dance program… It’s phenomenal!!!

Signed my 4 year old up for the POLLIWOGS swimming class through Conejo Recreation and Parks District. He had fun but the (young) instructors were more interested in talking to each other than the were interested in teaching these little kids. Also, they didn’t seem to have any real «plan» for teaching and seemed to just make things up as they went along, waiting for the 30 minutes to be over. «Uh, what can we do next,» was a phrase I overheard several times, while the 4 kids just hung on to the side of the pool and waited to find out. If you really want your kid to learn something, I don’t recommend this class.
