TownePlace Suites Thousand Oaks Ventura County

My only complaint was being able to hear the neighbors TV’s late at night. (Thin walls) Otherwise a rather good stay. The room was nicely appointed. Friendly staff, and breakfast had waffles & a hot dish (eggs & sausage) on the weekend.
The property sits behind another building and is terraced into the hill. Just to say the entrance is a little hidden, so keep a sharp lookout for it.

This hotel is on the verge of being the best hotel I have ever stayed at.
Sam and Brianne are so professional, they make the stay feel like home. They always ask if I’m doing OK. They always make sure I’m happy. TownePlace Suites are designed to be affordable extended stay hotels. They are a Marriott property and Residence Inns are their «higher end» extended stay. This TownePlace Suites has been newly remodeled and they are very clean. They were still in the process of finishing their breakfast room and looked like it was going to be nice. The staff was extremely friendly and we had a few special request and they jumped on them!!! Is it a fancy hotel? No. But it is not designed to be. It is suppose to be comfortable, efficient and affordable. It hits a home run on all three. Throw in great customer service and it gets 5 stars!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Extremely poor customer service and dirty. The young lady at check-​in counter has no manners and treated customs as if they were a bother. I would stay far away from this hotel and chose the one across the way. I have stayed there at my last biz trip and it’s much nicer.
Not worth staying here.

Clean room
Nicely decorated though I agree with other reviews that the TV is in awkward position, but if you look at the room, there really isn’t any other place to put it.
Shower curtain was a bit short, had to be adjusted several times. Good shower though.
Breakfast. Typical continental breakfast. Cereal, yogurt, small variety of pastries. Coffee…
Overall no muss, no fuss. Decent price.

I will keep it short. If all you need is a place to sleep overnight for an ok price and you don’t care about ambiance or strange smells– you will be ok with this place. If you like or expect anything else, if you want any other amenities or you care about how things look, bypass this place. Front desk staff were nice. We checked in at 11pm and checked out first thing the next morning.

Pardon me as I write this review holding my breath… I would like to apologize to the hotel owners as I know they get dinged for bad reviews, but I can’t help but share my short 4 hour pit stop on my way to a better hotel.
In my business and personal travels I have never experienced a US Marriott property in this condition. What looks good on the outside is a hot mess inside. I’ve stayed at other Towneplace Suites in the past and know that they are extended stay like hotels; however, this property seems emphasize the «extended» persona more than I would like.
1) Upon arriving at the property, I was greeted by a very unwelcoming lobby with a single counter for checking in.
2) Team was very nice and took care of my right away but there was only one person on staff and did not seem like there was another soul around (including security)
3) Walking down the hall felt like I had stepped into a housing project or community college dormitory (can’t figure out what was worse). Sad and depressing walk down a smelly tunnel of old carpet towards my luxurious accommodations.
4) At this point, I should have listened to my intuition to turn around but I was too tired to do so. Upon entering room 108, I was rather chilly so I turned up the heat. Whoa! I got blasted by the smell of stale cooking oils that had been baked into the air filter. Looking around at the kitchen, it didn’t surprise me that someone may have cooked here before. But why not wait a few days before renting out the room and letting it air out?
5) Turns out there was a reason to why it was so chilly… Someone knew it smelled and left the window open!!! At this point i could not stand the smell anymore and had to turn off the heat as it was clearly getting worse. After closing the window, I laid down and closed my eyes and held my breath for a little bit of shut eye. I even dreamed how I would have preferred a room that I been smoked in so that I wouldn’t be nauseous from the smell of grease.
6) mind you that by this point I had repacked everything in my suitcase for a fast exit in the morning so that everything wouldn’t have smelled like the room (probably too late).
7) A few hours later I inspected the place after a little sleep and realized the following:
–the tub has cracks and rust
–Microwave has left over food in it
–couch is very well worn and sagging, not sure if the Salvation Army would accept it
–draft comes from the a/​c unit that is extremely loud
–carpet is worn and fraying
–TV is in the most awkward space (like others have mentioned)
Congrats Towneplace Suites Newbury Park, almost tied for last place with the place I stayed in with bed bugs. You have managed the impossible and got me to write my first Unilocal review of a hotel.
I’ll sign off the exact opposite of the other Platinum elite member. There will be no next time here, couldn’t imagine the other «amenities» that I could enjoy. We spend too much time on the road to deal with this mess. Would rather go to motel where I expect this quality

This is a wonderful little place. I don’t get all the negative reviews. The rooms are always clean and have everything you need including a fridge, microwave, and stove. There’s plenty of free parking, free wifi, gym, pool, and Jacuzzi. The staff is very friendly and down-​to-​earth. The hotel is centrally located off the freeway and close to restaurants, shopping, etc. This is our home away from home when we need to get out of the city. The only thing left to be desired is the breakfast… it’s pretty much just cereal, yogurt, and breakfast breads. some hot eggs, breakfast meat, and potatoes would be nice :)

I would not recommend staying here unless you have no other choice. I was heading up to Santa Barbara from a LAX late flight so I thought I’d split up the drive.
Breakfast — did the job but limited
Room — terrible and tired, needs updating. my toilet ran all night (didn’t get much sleep as the head of the bed is about 6 ft from the to toilet) and they must have tried to fix it but could not because there was this black cloth wedged behind it. See pic. Also the TV is in the dumbest spot. If your in bed you can see it as its against the wall. And forget sitting in the chair to watch, it was nasty.
Check in — too way to long and I question the ability of the guy checking me in. He said my card was declined do I have another. Of course I did but when I went up to the room and call AMEX they said no charge was attempted from the hotel. Weird.
Staff — check in Guy — although pleasant way to talkative, I just spent the past 8 hours traveling and just wanted to relax at 11 pm. And the credit card thing. Checkout lady — looked at me strange when I explained the toilet running and black cloth. Had to show pic to get a reaction. Used points so just let it go but wasn’t happy.
Overall — My experience was unpleasant but maybe you’ll have better luck.

Red flag!!! Be aware they are thieves. My husband, toddler and I checked in at 6:30 due to a flood in our home, we got into our room and immediately it had a weird Erie feeling. We felt like we were in a mental institution (nothing wrong with that just cold not homey) it was a terribly cold feeling. We grab dinner and my husband had to shower because he came straight from work. We then decided it was way to weird and uncomfortable for us to stay, so we checked out at 7:40 pm literally barely an hour after check in. They are now refusing to pro rate or refund our one night fee. I said I don’t mind paying for the hour we were there but not the whole $ 134. The manager was a jerk and I would never recommend staying here EVER!!! I’m disputing it with my credit card company.

Fantastic place to stay for lengthy visit. Staff, especially Angela, went way above and beyond to make sure every detail of our stay was perfect. We discovered we needed much more space than the studio we had booked and Angela took care of it right away. The two bedroom was perfect for us. Even placed us on first floor because they knew we were moving our daughter into her dorm and had LOTS of stuff. Loved being on the corner. Lots of privacy. This platinum elite highly recomends TownePlace for a short or long stay. So easy to get anywhere from here. Lots of places to eat near hotel. Kitchen makes life easy with grocery store and a new walmart nearby.

I thought this place was very clean. I loved our Studio Suite. It’s great for extended stay. You have a little kitchen with everything you need to cook a nice meal, you just have to buy groceries. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well! The pool is small but perfect to cool off. I recommend this place!

For $ 159 a night, this is the worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed at. I am a silver elite member and can’t tell you how disappointed I am that this is a Marriott that cost $ 159 a night

Stayed here for two nights to attend a wedding nearby.

–friendly desk service
–clean, typical Marriott attention to detail
–kitchen is stocked with various utensils, massive fridge
–bed comfortable
-$ 99 a night
CONs:
–lots of noise between rooms could keep someone awake or wake them up earlier than wanted
–TV is in an odd place that has to be repositioned if you want to view it, still at an awkward angle
–some odd smoke smell in the hallway thankfully didn’t affect our room

This hotel provides good value for what you pay. I stayed here with my family for a night when my daughter had a dance recital at the nearby Thousand Oaks Civic center. We normally stay at the TO Hyatt, but we weren’t all that impressed and wanted to try something new.
We booked a studio suite for a saturday night stay and it was only $ 99. The room itself was no bigger than a standard hotel room, but it did have a pull out sofa bed (for my teenage son) and mini kitchen. We didn’t cook, but it was nice to have a big fridge along with glasses, plates and silverware.
The free breakfast is nothing to write home about, but it is free and good if you just want a quick start to the day. We took advantage of this since the kids wanted to hit the pool on sunday morning before check out.
The pool is small and there is limited seating, but it was not crowded. Also, the pool is heated nicely. Even though it was overcast and probably 70 degrees outside, the pool water was very comfortable.
The location of this place is pretty convenient. It’s right off the freeway. Although I will admit that it is right past (or before) the 101 and 23 interchange and it can get a little backed up depending on the time of day. There’s is a nearby gas station, a little market and various eateries including In N Out and Chili’s.

I went on
to book and room and this place looked great and the price was right. I booked it there on
but there was no way for me to notify them we had a pet. According the website charge for a pet was $ 75 and that already seemed outragoues but I booked it anyway. I called a little while later to let them know we did have a pet. First of all the guy didn’t even have me in the system and when I brought up the pet fee he tells me its $ 100, how is a pet charge more than the room itself?!? I even asked him and told me that it was not correct! I am very disappointed and cancelled my reservations and went with Best Western, its only a $ 20 pet charge!

A fair value for the money, but I must share a couple things:
1) The desk height is too high.
2) Wireless was .29 down, and .40 up. I plugged in and got 1.0 down and 1.0 up
3) There is an In & Out right down the street! :-)

I stayed here with my toddler over a Labor Day weekend and it was the perfect place for her. I wanted her to feel at home and the setup in the suite catered to her nicely.
The suites are spacious with high ceilings (well, the first floor anyway), there is plenty of closet space, and both the kitchen and bathroom have wide halls. The suite has a full kitchen stocked with utensils. I wouldn’t recommend more than three people in a king suite.
There is complimentary breakfast in the lobby, and the pool is close enough to walk and eat there. There are several chairs and tables surrounding the pool if you’re looking to just lay out.
The staff was friendly and gave me all the information I needed upon arrival. I highly recommend staying here — I would happily stay here again in a heartbeat.

After our house flooded, the insurance company put us up in TownePlace Suites. I wasn’t looking forward to staying in a hotel for the next month, but at least I could bring my dog with me.
Trying to share a queen sized bed with my husband isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but overall our stay has been very pleasant. The girls at the front desk have been super accommodating. Housekeeping comes twice a day. They even do our dishes for us! We have complimentary internet and continental breakfasts. And the fresh chocolate chip cookies the front desk puts out every night are delicious!

After a long day of driving from San Francisco with moderate rain along the way, it was comforting to roll into the TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Thousand Oaks. We were on our way to the San Diego area and wanted to stop along the way. This is a fairly modern motor inn, clean and comfortable. The service at the front desk was excellent and our studio room was comfortable. It had a small kitchen and a full size refrigerator. I liked the idea of the large refrigerator and thus large freezer since we had frozen food that was being transported to relatives.
The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well lit. There was adequate closet space and there was a large cable television. The bed seem sort of small for a queen size, but maybe we were just unaccustomed to it. The room had WiFi service which was nice to check our e-​mail. They did have a computer down in the lobby area, but it seemed like one family was hogging it all the time.
The motor inn is located off of Highway 101, but with the window closed we could not hear the traffic noise. During the night, the refrigerator motor would start up, but then that was to be expected. The noise that was most troublesome was a low sounding hum which probably came from the swimming pool pump. It was especially troublesome when it started up in the middle of the night, ruining the quiet solitude of the room. The location of the motor inn is within walking distance of an adjacent restaurant and a little strip mall that had some restaurants.
We used the exercise room prior to breakfast. It consisted of a small universal weight machine, a couple of tread mills, a cycling machine, and something similar to an elliptical machine (works on your legs and arms). The exercise room was clean, but it could get crowded as the equipment is spaced closely together.
The complimentary breakfast consisted of mostly cereal, yogurt, and packaged rolls. They also had some oranges and bananas. Their coffee located across the service desk was exceptionally good and strong.
In general, we enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.
