Wonderful and clean facility. Trainers and classes are great, variety is endless. Earth Bar for smoothies and again bowl after a workout. Good pool and parking accommodations.

Ryan Murray for spin!!! I used to take his classes in NYC every week and then sadly he disappeared… I moved to LA a month ago and lo and behold… he appeared again! Take his 10:45AM class on Saturday mornings at the Westlake Village location. He won’t disappoint.

Dealt with a chatty membership advisor for over an hour when we inquired about a complimentary guest pass in order to get a feel for the gym & ensure it was a good fit prior to handing over our hard earned money. She insisted Equinox doesn’t give out guest passes, yet it says so right here on Unilocal!I also have friends & family who are members so this treatment was a shock & a disappointment. We were looking for a great place to stay in shape but with service like that, it’s a total turn off.

How it started: Filled out a form on the website for a free trial, was contacted by Kevin via e-mail. He gave me a guest pass for a few days, he was nice, responded fast to all my messages and questions, gave me a quick tour the first day I showed up and followed up with me to see how I had liked it. Overall gym: super clean, spacious, big lockers, hair dryers, plenty of towels, etc. There’s a juice bar, a little shop and a pool I haven’t tried. Classes: a good variety of classes at different times, which is why I joined. All the instructors I’ve met are really good and knowledgeable. Some are more personable than others, but they are all friendly. Patricia was especially nice and noticed I was new and made me feel welcome. I like that you can make your schedule and book classes via the app(some classes require booking 26 hours before, but most don’t) — it keeps me organized. You can keep your pace or make the classes harder if you choose heavier weights. Classes I loved: Fit Ballet Body(Chelsea) is a great workout(it was hard to walk the next day, which is great), Best Butt Ever followed by Tabata, Fitbody with Stephanie. Amy and Martha are also great instructors. I have yet to try the cycling classes, and they also offer yoga. People: yes, I had heard some stories of rude people and snobs, but I found that most people keep to themselves. I’m an introvert so I’m not the one to start conversations, but there are some friendly people — surprisingly! :) Average age I’d say is 35+. I highly recommend this gym! I’ve been to a few in Ventura County and this is really as good as it gets around here.

Fabulous and unparalleled experience. I love everything about this club. Guest experience and facilities are top notch. It’s a great feeling to be in such a positive and inspiring environment. Instructors are awesome and really care for you. The people next to you are kind and will cheer you on. This is my fav place to workout !

Love this gym! I have an all access membership so I’ve pretty much been to all. Westlake and Glendale are by far my favorites! It’s like a sanctuary for me to go and destress after a long day at work. I love the equipment, classes, staff, members and amenities-especially the steam room and lockers. I love being a member here and I highly recommend anyone to join.

After a year of attending Equinox Westlake Village on a regular basis, I can honestly say that I continue to be impressed. This oasis some consider just a gym, has me looking forward to my every next visit. To the staff and management team: keep up the great work!

I am really shocked and disappointed at how unprofessional the staff is here. First of all, my account was switched over prior to my commitment to transfer from Maryland, when I called inquiring about the gym. I had been given a guest pass and I liked the gym but we had not fully moved yet. The manager told me not to worry about it when I found out I had been switched as I intended to join even though I had not yet done so– and he apparently just froze the account — telling me it was all set — without explaining to me that it was a freeze or giving me a freeze end date — which turned out to be a one month. I experienced a family emergency, and have been very tied up, so, since I was unaware I was considered an active member anywhere, I did not worry about it. I never filed any papers to transfer to CA from MD. However, I was billed two months and I never set foot in the gym as I had no idea I was considered a member of this gym. I called to figure out what the bill was and I got a curt reply from management and an image of a transfer form upon which my signature was FORGED. Yes, my signature was forged and no it was NOT their automated system. someone forged my signature. I was upset. I then get an email saying my account is CANCELLED and I was reimbursed the erroneous charges. I never got an apology. It was 100% their error. They lost a loyal customer of Equinox. Had any transparency been in place, they would 1) NOTHAVESWITCHEDMEWITHOUTAPPROVAL2) if switched, articulated a date I needed to return to the gym or cancel, 3) not FORGED my signature so some idiot got a sale, when all I did was call to ask questions, 4) apologized, 5) reimbursed me and given me the option to re-initiate my membership not just cancel. I travel a lot and have been with Equinox in all of my locations. I also have a spinal condition that sometimes sets me back and when I am good, I love to work out and have always supported this gym. I am stunned at how poorly I was treated here. Totally unprofessional on every level.

If you take working out seriously then you will hate this gym… the design is pretty and modern but don’t be fooled by appearances. This gym is tiny with little weight machines/mostly cardio machines. it is very cramped and difficult to do any workouts you may have planned to do at the gym. The classes were the part I was most excited for when I joined this gym. The schedule has slowly gotten worse and now there is a sign up required for the best classes because of how overcrowded it is and how aggressive the women of Westlake behaved to get a spot for themselves in the main studio. It’s Intimidating to even be in classes such as ‘best butt ever’ where women scramble through the room knocking into each other in order to get the equipment they need before anyone else. has gotten so bad before that the general manager had to come in and control the situation due to arguments over a spot. Gym is filled with pushy management and rude housewives.

We’ve now been members for the last 6 months and it has been a game-changer for our lifestyle. We love Equinox and find fitness to now be a more integrated part of our lives. I train with Shey Machida and I can not say enough good things about her — she is incredibly knowledgable(holds her BA in Exercise Science) but more than that — she is all about the growth and whole life change of her clients. I use the pool and it’s not too strong which is nice, the classes are top notch(so far I’ve taken yoga and spin) love the steam room, showers and the overall vibe of this place is so positive. Don’t forget to get a Chocolate Supreme on your way out at the Earth Bar. Yum!

Very well kept and run gym. The Equinox employees are very pleasant, helpful and professional. The front desk know my name and always greet you when you come in and leave. The equipment is kept clean and functional. I even noticed they make sure that when the dumbbells racked, that they are adjusted to the weight numbering is right side up. The locker room are spotless and excellently kept. Very nice gym!

Love my gym. I have tried many other facilities in the past but Equinox is my favorite. The premises are always clean and staff are professional. The machines are new, the classes are amazing, I especially love kickboxing, yoga, pilates, and hiphop dance. I enjoy each workout and the community of people with the same high energy and love for health.

Very clean, that’s what everyone will tell you. And while I don’t think that $ 150/month for a membership is too over the top for a gym that is kept clean(even though clean should be the standard everywhere), don’t be fooled into spending $ 1500-$ 2000/month or more on a trainer that has just gotten their start after going through the most basic of anatomy and physiology that is Equinox Fitness Training Institute. It’s a made up course that doesn’t mean anything, anywhere, except at Equinox. Here’s some behind the scenes info: Equinox thrives on the $$$ that is made from their trainers; friendly people that just happen to also look good but have a very limited knowledge of exercise and how the body actually works. When you pay for the best you should get the best, so make sure you’re not fooled by the black shirts and toned physiques of «trainers» that have never had to lose weight or deal with injuries and who definitely don’t know how to approach those problems with their own clients. There are a select few good trainers that are still there, but most of the really great ones have moved on to their own private training businesses or other gyms where they are not surrounded by incompetence. Equinox loves to promote incompetent people, especially when it comes to management. Most of the good people that were there, either left or were forced out. It was one of the trainers there that said they«promote to the highest level of their own incompetence.» Also, if you don’t fit into their mold as a trainer, they make sure that no business comes your way no matter how intelligent you are or even how good your results are with clients. You will not get any leads or be allowed to grow your business if you are not willing to kiss ass with management and fit into the perfect corporate drone. Also, managers at this Equinox, as well as most other locations, have the highest turnover of any position within the company. That’s never a good sign. That being said, I think you get what you pay for with a basic membership when you factor in all of the included amenities, classes, equipment, etc. However, if you care at all about the quality of who you are paying extra to train with or if you care about how many of the employees are treated, you might want to think again. Don’t be fooled by their fake smiles, because all they see are dollar signs.

Rude staff. This place run like crap. Front staff clueless over priced. My favorite was hearing different staff members talking crap about other staffers. Told a friend about the place and they became stalkers so he blocked their number. This place is very small and everyone is on top of each other. Don’t be fooled by the hype. Go spend your time where you are valued rather than a commission for a seller. Oh… If you have a nice car… Stay away. They put giant mount like speed bumps that you will for sure get angry as they are every few feet

The first equinox that I feel deserves a 5 Star review. If you can’t understand the pricing, then the gym isn’t for you. Large spaces in locker room, good workout area(smaller than expected based on the size of the overall facility), but the spa is still pretty lacking. Make sure to talk to Chris V. in sales and if you are looking for a trainer make sure to get in touch with Mike Woods. Overall staff is on par with the rest of the Equinox locations which they always seem to barely meet my expectations.

The cost per month is not worth it. Much better gyms in the Westlake Vlg/Thousand Oaks area. Chris Wellbaum(GM) is not an effective manager.

I wanted to give Equinox a try because of a friend’s recommendation. The facility was ok clean but the pool was small and not impressive. One would think if you have to pay this much, customer service should be great. no! I scheduled an appointment and was told the person was booked with someone else! I was told to go home and waited for her call to schedule another appointment. It was very disappointing and I doubt I would give this another try.

This location is disappointing compared to my old location in Westwood. The operations are not seamless. Too little time between classes to properly transition students without feeling rushed and clean the room. Rude staff and in a couple cases, inept staff. It’s a little rough around the edges here. On the other hand, the facility is nice enough(again, not as nice as in LA but better than, say, Manhattan’s midtown location). Maybe the management will work out the kinks as time passes.

I have been meaning to update my review after attending Equinox Westlake Village over 100 times in the last few months. The members here are great, it’s not what I was expecting(shame on me, I know) everyone is friendly and helpful. I have met many great people and consider them more like friends than just another member. The gym/weights area is super clean, organized and members help keep it that way. No ego’s, no bad attitudes, just people working hard and getting in shape. Can’t say enough about the many members I have met here. The staff here are just too good, too kind, too willing to go the extra mile for members that anything less than 5 stars would take away from that fact. I feel more like a good friend than a member here, they make it a point to acknowledge me when I walk in and even help me check my 3 children into the kids club. I decided to take classes here(along with working out) and all the instructors are very professional, knowledgeable and personable, just a great mix of instructors you will benefit greatly from all of them, I know I have. Stephanie is a world class, I could end the sentence there but it’s still not enough. If you are an athlete or a person trying to get in shape, at any age, she WILL challenge you, encourage you & motivate you. I have learned a lot from her and her level of intellect along with her willingness to apply and share it is unmatched, period. If you take any of her classes, you will understand what I am saying, it’s a privilege to take her classes. Go to one of her classes, you will agree. Niki, is another instructor who will get the best out of each person. Her enthusiasm is only matched by her professionalism and passion for doing exercises correctly and safely. She has helped get into much better shape and proven you can have fun doing it. I could go on forever but it’s unlikely many even read this far… j/k… but this updated review was long overdue. Tonight we had a party at the club and everyone was having a great time, dancing, drinking, laughing… it was not fabricated, it was real people, having a really good time and although I would loved to have my Wife and I attend for the entire time, I had to take Niki’s class at 6:30. For the 3 minutes I was able to «party» as I exited with my 3 little children, it showed me exactly why Stephanie calls it Bestlake Village. The members and the staff were having a blast and Jon even managed to give my Son a balloon, very nice! Thank you WLV Equinox! The C.
