Best in town!
I’ve been going to Jimmy for about a year now and he’s one of the few that really knows how to cut my hair. Great guy overall and definitely a go-​to if you’re looking to get a fresh cut.

This guy knows what he’s doing! He transformed my husband from a shaggy mountain man to a neatly groomed stud! He’s a master at his trade and put on the finishing touches skillfully with the straight razor. We highly recommend big poppa!!!

Figured it was about time for my 5 yr old to get a real hair cut. He’s mixed and has some crazy curls and I wanted to find someone who knew their way around ethic hair. I found Jim (Big Poppa)…his name itself told me I was in the right place! More importantly there was so any good reviews w/​pics of past clients. He got us in that day.
My son JJ has only had really quick buzz cuts and has a hard time sitting still. Jim took charge and helped JJ laugh and relax. The best thing was even though JJ was being a bit skirmy… he didn’t rush his cut! He took his time and did exactly what I was hoping for! My husband is switching and my boys will never go anywhere else!

After visiting half a dozen salons to work on my girls hair I found Jim on Unilocal,gave a call and he was able to fit us in on a very busy day. He handled a variety of hair types from my kids to niece and was exceptionally kind and friendly with them and myself. The overall atmosphere was both welcoming, warm, and professional.
I will be visiting Jim shortly for a straight razor cut and any future appointments for myself or family. I was more than satisfied and highly recommend this location to all ages.
UPDATE: As promised I went back for a beard trim and straight razor cut and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere and after a rough week a great start to a new one. Was able to fit me in during a tight schedule and did not rush anything. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

I am beyond impressed with the quality of service I received at this establishment. I came here because my hair was ruined by another barber so I wanted it to be fixed. He did above and beyond my expectations. Needless to say he has won me over as a faithful customer from this day forward. I loved the end results of my hair cut. He is amazing with a blade and also with clippers. I recommend anyone to get a haircut by Jimmy! His is a natural, he knows exactly what he is doing! Keep up the great work Jimmy! Kudos to you for making me look like a million bucks ! BTW, I went to an interview right after and got the job on the spot!

Jim is a fantastic barber. He learned from the best and has carried these skills with him for over 20 years in the business. He keeps me looking sharp, the haircut is so good I go every 2 weeks just to stay as fresh as possible. He has a certain fenisse that you can’t get with other barbers, trust me I’ve been all over Portland to find the right barber. I’ve been to barbers that charge 2x the price and they don’t put in half the time and effort this man puts in to make sure you look good. Ditch supercuts and great clips and get a real cut from a classic barbershop (yes they do straight razor and shave cream, it’s like being in the 70s).

So much to say about this guy!
I walked in the other day off a reference. And my buddy had always bragged bout Jim. And I got the best hair cut I have had in ever. Took his time. And did an awesome job. Got a faux hawk. Kept good conversation. And didn’t mind that I was half awake. Price was only $ 20 which is actually cheaper than all the other places I have been recently. If you want an on point hair cut talk to Jim.

My man Jimmy is really great at making the haircut a form of art, by taking the time to use different machines and precision the results are a unique style that you can NOT get anywhere else (especially in cheap places like super cuts). He is the only barber i go to and respect.

I have been seeing Jim for 6 months now. Great experience every time. He is very conscientious about providing top quality service and product. His attention to detail is what impresses me the most. My haircut shows every little mistake. With Jim there is none. He provides pleasant conversation and funny stories while going through the service. You can tell he cares about his co-​workers and customers. Shop is just a good ol’ American barbershop. I highly recommend Jim!

Gotta great fade from Jim! He focuses on quality so what took ten minutes anywhere else, took more than half an hour because of the effort he puts into his clients. Probably the best haircut I have gotten in Oregon!

Jim is so funny and down to earth! He always does the best with mine and my daughter’s hair! Yep, I said it. It is a barber shop, but yes, he is very open and does amazing with women’s hair as well! He even got my ADHD youngest daughter to sit through an hour of being in the chair and she even had fun doing it.
He is available every day (except for Sundays) and is always willing to work with my schedule!
My family of five all love getting our hair done with Jim and we love the atmosphere in the shop!

This is a great neighborhood barber shop. It reminds me of a barber shop in the movies where everyone’s talking shop and bullshitting about their day. There’s even a barbershop «groupie» that hangs out in the waiting area waiting to talk your ear off and give you a high speed intellectual conversation if you’re up for talking to strangers, not that you’ll have a choice.
My haircut by Jim was very detailed and clean. I also got a straight razor shave and got my beard all lined up and edged. Jim is also a super nice guy, you won’t be disappointed sitting in his chair.
It’s a great deal at $ 18 for a cut and shave and it’s a short walk from my house. I’ll definitely be back.
