Shilo Inn Suites Hotel Tillamook

From the time we got here to the time we left, our entire time and experience was a nightmare! I read reviews for months that this Shilo Inn in Tillamook, OR was a horrible place, but I wanted to give it a chance. We arrived and were told we booked two rooms and would be charged for another room, even though it was just one adult and a child, and that I had to call this 3^rd party to cancel the other room. The other 3^rd party had zero info on any of a stay at this hotel whatsoever. So I called the front desk to tell them that. Then after claiming to put us in a quiet area of the hotel, a family of 6 showed up in the room next door with the most noisy kids! I called the front desk and the lady changed our room. here’s the thing, I paid more for a nice room. But the room we were then put in was a HUGE downgrade and was awful! We were also promised on MULTIPLE occasions that the morning breakfast is a hot/​cold buffet with eggs, meat, ALL the goods! When we got there, it was NOTHING but a bagel, yogurt, and juice. Everyone else in there was told the same thing about breakfast and were very angry! We found out that if you wanted a hot breakfast that day, that you had to go to their restaurant and pay $ 20 for their special breakfast of the day. NO THANK YOU! We couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Highly don’t recommend! Just a Horrific experience!

Really glad we booked this hotel and stayed here. It was very central to things. In addition, the rooms (and bathrooms) were very clean. The staff were SUPER helpful and friendly. This place may not look like much on the outside, but it is a very nice place to stay. We will be back. LOVED the free breakfast and the very helpful and social Cookie. She did her job well and was on top of everything. We loved her! — We will be staying here next time we come.

Stayed here the night before Mothers Day. Rooms very out dated, cannot remember the last time I stayed at a hotel that had a old box style television. But that was not the issue for me. No towels. Asked for towels and was asked my room number and they would get back to me… An hour and half later go back and ask about the towels, just to be told they were out and housekeeping was gone. I guess that doing a load of towels is beneath the evening employee’s. But the biggest let down was the free breakfast. We have stayed here many times before and one reason is you save money on the breakfast. It usually has hot items including waffles, etc… But since this was mothers day they moved it from the regular location and into another room. Even though this room was set up with a permanent food buffet set up, this was very much a after thought by management. Ugly tables (plywood), food and items just spread out everywhere (not lined up in there nice buffet system). Several moments were food was very scarce for people coming in. Unorganized with table full of smallwares and supplies just piled up. only 1 Microwave and its just sitting on a milk crate on the opposite side of the room. I wrote a response to management via website, but i guess they are so embarrassed that they didn’t even respond. Even their employee’s were saying they were sorry and one almost crying due to the embarrassment her company put here through.

Good value for the price ($ 84 plus tax). Included a happy hour (Michelle Maeding was our server) and breakfast.

Excellent accommodations! Large room, very clean. Nice location for a base for day trips or just relaxing. Second time staying here.

The old, outdated look is fine. I can get past that. And the place was super quiet. I was staying for just one night, one quick stop so I didn’t have my toiletries. When I noticed the room was missing soap, I went to the front desk. The lady leaves for a minutes, comes back and hands me several shampoo bottles saying they are out of soap. NO SOAP? She says its on back order. Ok then… now I get to wash my hands and everything else with shampoo. Ugh. This, in my opinion, is where lack of management shows through. Have your staff go across the street and buy soap from Freddies so your guests have something to wash up with.
Last grievance, I was lying in bed watching television in the morning shortly before 0900, when I heard a key unlocking my door. If it weren’t for the latch lock, I would have been meeting the housekeeping staff that morning. Check out time is at noon. Most places I’ve ever been, housekeeping KNOCKS first and introduces themselves. Here they just unlock your door and walk right in.
Get it together Shilo! Not worth $ 80 for my stay.

This place was probably really nice when it was built 25 years ago, but doesn’t look like it’s been updated at all since then. Sorely needs updating. Room was pretty clean, but didn’t have coffee, shampoo or even soap! Everything here is just really run down. Front desk staff was less than helpful, and overall not even close to being worth the high prices they charge for rooms. Would not stay here again.

Let me start off by saying that we will be staying here again if we are staying in tillamook. I was a flight attendant for 2 years and stayed in some really «nice» hotels. I put nice in quotations because I always expected a bigger price and fancy lobby were a sign of the what to expect in rooms. That rarely was the case. A lot of these hotels I had stayed in were no better than the avg motel 6.
The Shilo in has always held a special place to me as in recall staying in them through most of my childhood if we needed to stay somewhere overnight. Aside from my bias here it is.
The staff was helpful and friendly and check-​in was a breeze (we booked through Expedia). They kicked in a free breakfast buffet at the restaurant attached and two free drink vouchers for beer, wine, or soda. RARELY SAW THAT IN THE AIRLINE BIZ! The atmosphere is very cozy as most Shilo inns look and feel.
The parking lot was very full indicating a lot of vacationers, as it was spring break, however we found a parking spot fairly close to our room.
The room was a little outdated but hey consider this; if they updated the price would go up. Way up. Let me say this though, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels but most didn’t come with a fridge or little kitchenette.
We have our two girls with us and got right down to the 24hr pool. Considering it was spring break and 9 o’clock at night we didn’t expect anyone there but we were wrong. About 20 kids wrong. Within a matter of a half hour the kids started vacating and we were the only ones left. The staff kept checking in and making sure there were enough towels.
Upon vacating the pool we tried out their sauna… Little too hot. Then we tried their steam room. Holy crap. I’ve NEVER BEEN TO A HOTEL THAT HAD ONE OF THESE! Amazing! Also in the general vicinity was a little workout room.
Other than adjusting the heat temp in the room the overnight was fine. No loud noises or commotions outside.
My wife and kids went and enjoyed the Buffett. I slept in a while longer. Buffet lasts until 10 and they even let her take a Togo bag for me. My wife is currently down in the business center doing homework, The shower was hot and everything else was splendid.
The only thing I didn’t care for was the tube TV. Even though I am here for only a night others could and will be here for longer than that. Offering a flat screen— more importantly a means for someone to connect their devices to the TV and stream video for the whole family to enjoy.
Thanks Shilo inn Tillamook. WE WILL BE BACK!

Really awful, the people are great but it was very hard to sleep with all the noise and commotion.
Room was clean and tidy, cheap soap and shampoo.
The free breakfast was like a homeless kitchen, you get what you pay for. An older guy was in there in his soaking swim trunks and a towel, classy and no food was left, and no server even for coffee
Better rethink this one

Not happy at all. Booked online then called cause I needed a handicapped room. The girl on the phone said that wouldn’t b a problem. She kept reassuring me I would get a handicapped room. Well when checking in I didn’t get put in a handicapped room. They put me in a king room with a sofa sleeper. Well the sofa sleeper was broken so my son had to sleep all crooked. I felt really sorry for my son. They didn’t even offer to take money off our nights stay. All we got was a sorry. We r never staying here again.

Restaurant menu is VERY limited and overpriced for what it is. My wife and I are locals but rarely eat out in Tillamook because healthy food choices are limited. We thought, «why not. There must be something on the menu «. Wrong. Almost walked out but felt sorry for staff who were standing around with nothing to do (not a good sign). Food was not good although edible. A real shame. They have the facility and location but menu is horrible. My gut is still not happy, 12hrs later. Go anywhere else. We certainly will.

My «walk in» registration was $ 50.00 cheaper that Trip Advisor etc. Hugely appreciated!!!
In addition, this place is awesome for sport fishermen… all the stuff you need, fish cleaning tables, sinks, ice & refrigeration.
Highly recommended!

This place knows what service is! Katie is always very helpful. She even offered to mail my Mother’s day card on her way home so it would get there on time.
Mary knows I work all night. She has my coffee freshly brewed and ready to go at my usual departure time. Awesome service ladies!

Okay, the place is okay. I’d say more Motel 6 than High end. Nothing special about a room I paid 175 for. A King suite there has a love seat… that’s it. That’s a suite. In most places, that’s a room.
The workout room –well it looks great, but it isn’t. The treadmill doesn’t work, the weight machine is in disrepair and nearly hurt me. The steam room worked but the sauna, nothing. The pool is freezing, the jets in the spa were painful. The spa was growing green stuff too.
One towel per person was all they could give us. :(The «buffet» breakfast was gravy, biscuits, scrambled eggs and potates. When you think buffet you think choice of meat (there was none) choice of bread (packaged muffin or hard biscuit I guess is a choice.) It’s nothing special.

This place is old! How old you ask? They actually still use regular keys to get in the rooms. ;) breakfast was same as all other hotels. Rooms were flashback to the 70’s. Don’t let any of the pictures fool you.

Good accommodations. Clean room, friendly staff, pool is a little cold, rooms have fridges, microwave & kitchen sink.
Great breakfast! The potatoes are really good, nice selection including breakfast burittos. Wish they had hot cocoa packs, but everything else was great.
Overall, nice place to stay.

What a pleasant surprise to be greeted with a free breakfast voucher AND a free glass of wine or beer for both my boyfriend and myself. We enjoyed the use of the 24 hour spa, workout room and pool/​hot tub space. The room was large with a small fridge and microwave along with a comfy king size bed. We will be back and would highly recommend to anyine hitting the Oregon coast. Don’t waste your money on over priced hotels on the beach.

The staff could not have been more helpful. The rates reasonable. The complimentary glass of wine in the evening and buffet breakfast in the morning very very nice. We asked for a quiet room and got just what we asked for. Clean, quiet, friendly. just what we look for in a motel. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We had a sudden death in the family and ended up with 8 families (35) coming/​going for a week. The staff at Shilo (Kathy, Kelly, Kayla, Tracey, Mary, Todd, Andrea, Alexandria, Merilee, Ben, and Ron) went out of their way to help us. Set up the Tillamook room for us to gather in — made a hard time easier because we could gather together and not worry. If you want to stay with family, this is the place for you. 10’s across the board. Thank you!

I didn’t read the invoice closely, buried in all the charges was a $ 15 «new pet fee» and they charged me «room tax» twice in two different amounts.
I didn’t have a pet, I was not told about this fee, I signed because I was tired and didn’t read the invoice closely until a few days later.
This is a scam, it is just outright thievery. As far as I’m concerned, they stole $ 15 from me.
