Established in 2006.

Uncle Hilde’s Lumber Outlet started in 2006 as Uncle Hilde’s Surplus Lumber, selling mainly surplus and overstock items obtained from wholesalers in the Northeast. Since then we have refined our product lines, increased our supply chain and developed a reputation as the place to go for first quality deeply discounted building materials. Our business model is unique, with no delivery fleet, no rows and rows of slow moving hardware items and very low overhead we are able to bring great items to market at prices much lower that any regular lumberyard. Our store in Tilton NH attracts customers from all over New England.

After working 25 years in the wholesale lumber business, I felt sure that a business offering finished building materials at a discount could actually compete with the «big box» stores. Capitalizing on the network of relationships I had developed in my career with manufacturers, wholesalers, importers, sawmills, and retailers, our store opened in June 2006 in Tilton, New Hampshire.

So how is it that a retail building materials dealer has not only been successful but actually grown in a down economy? We stick to our strengths, keep a low overhead, and offer a truly unique selection of first quality products at discounted prices.
