Basin St. Grille located at 5201 Monroe St. in busy West Toledo was est. Oct. 1990 and named after the birthplace of american jazz in New Orleans. Featuring a menu with «New American Bistro» fair, most of which is cooked on a Wood Fire Grill by our Executive Chef. We also have a 20+ Martini Menu, that includes our signature The Filthy Dirty (voted best in the toledo city paper 2011). Now 4 nights a week we host the best Singer/​Songwriters that the Glass City has to offer

History

Established in 1990.

Born of the T-​Town Boys’ Nick Tokles love for all things New Orleans, this just may be Toledo’s Best Kept Secret.

Manager

Chef Gary L. was born in Florida, and the moved to Toledo. He has been cooking in fine dining for over 8 years, and trained under some of Toledo’s premier Chefs. Recently, he achieved his first Head Chef position at Basin Street Grille where he has brought his style and flair to the T-​Town Boys’ family of restaurants.

I’ve been there 3 times. The food was decent, but over priced. I liked the atmosphere, service was alright. The last time we were in the place was busy so we sat at the bar. In this restaurant there is a grill by the bar separate from the kitchen. We sat pretty close to the grill area where there were two chefs that seemed pretty busy. There was a lot of swearing, which I’m fine with. What really bothered me though, and the reason I’ll never go back, was the chef talking about the waitresses. He was saying horrible things even so far as to say he «wanted to choke her out». This is not a place I can support ever. It must be an awful place to work.

I’m being generous with three stars. Bald man behind the bar. Owner/​manager. Whatever he is, is rude. Had a bad experience a few months ago with awful wait staff and tried to give them a second chance. No thanks. I’ll spend my money somewhere else.

Been wanting to try Basin St Grille and finally attempted tonight. The atmosphere was cool and it smelled delicious. We unfortunately will never know if the food is good or not as after receiving menus we sat waiting for almost 20 minutes for our waitress to return. Ridiculous. Never again and letting my friends know to skip it!

This is my favorite place in the entire world. Maybe because I used to work here… but that isn’t it. I work someplace else now but still find myself raving about the food here to my current coworkers and family members. The Filthy Dirty martini is to die for. I always get mine with blue cheese olives. Tony and Adam really know what they are doing behind the kitchen lines and the staff really cares about the place. I suggest the Cajun Shrimp and Scallop Pasta as well as the French Onion Soup. I don’t have enough good things to say about this place. Amazing patio in the summer time with an outdoor bar. Bands play outside when the weather is nice. Truly a hidden gem. Love you all!

The chef at Basin St. is amazing. Their martini list is awesome! Those are the only reason we go. But, sadly we will probably not return. The wait staff is terrible! The last few times I could not believe how bad. I used to be a server I don’t expect much and I tip well. Tonight there were only two other tables so it wasn’t busy. She was too busy talking in the kitchen. Too bad this place could be great! I am calling them tomorrow, not to complain or expect something, but to share my experience in hopes it helps! Their food is great!

We were the first table of the evening. Food was good, service left a lot to be desired. Despite the extensive staff present, primarily behind the bar, there didn’t seem to be much team work. Bad service is unacceptable when the place is next to empty.

SCOTT is the main reason you should come to Basin St Grille. The food is way beyond amazing with the wood grill flavorings, the steaks are fantastic and the Angus burger was mouthwatering. but having Scott wait on us and entertain us was the best part of the experience. He was so hilarious and laid back and always had us in fits of laughter.
Seriously amazing food but superior service from Scott. One of the absolute best nights out I have had at a bar thanks to him!

I have always wondered about the Basin St Grille — tonight I discovered it is one of Toledo’s hidden gems. It is the perfect choice if you are looking for a good quality meal and at reasonable price. I recommend the open face Surf and Turf sandwich. It has to be one of the greatest values out there. It is priced as a high end sandwich –but is equivalent to a surf and turf entrée. The meat was cooked to perfection and the shrimp was deluxe jumbo variety.
Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. The environment is warm and inviting.
This will be my new go to place for a reasonably priced meal out.

Great option if you’re looking for a more intimate setting. The martini list is superb, have never tried any entrees but any of the appetizers I would recommend! They often have live music but it always fits the atmosphere perfectly, unlike most local spots that have bands play so loud you can’t even hold a conversation!

We had a great experience here. The service and staff were above and beyond friendly. Food was great, drinks were spirited without ridiculous up charging.
It’s sort of like a higher scale VI or Nick and Jimmys with a Cajun Smoked flair. It’s hidden near Bed Bath and Beyond in the middle of restaurant alley on Monroe Street.

All of the food at this place is awesome! We had a variety of different dishes from the fried oyster nachos to ribs and fish, all of it was very tasty. They have live music there too. I’ll definitely be back.
