David’s Bridal

Stopped in with my best friend who is a bride to look for bridesmaids dresses and was not greeted by anyone. After about ten minutes someone finally asked us what we were there for and then proceeded to find the dress I was there for to try on. The associate was very pushy and rude. She also did not listen to a word I was saying when I mentioned how the dress was too big and how I felt uncomfortable but continued to write it down as my size. We also had to track her down every time I switched out of sizes because she kept disappearing without mentioning to us that she would be right back.
After ordering the dress I was told (and received a paper with the date) the date my dress would arrive in the store. However I received an email that the dress arrived a month early and I only had seven days to pick up the dress. I live an hour away from this store and have a very tight schedule and had told the associate that when ordering so I was adamant about the exact date so I could schedule a trip there. I made a phone call to the store in which an associate had answered and proceeded to talk to me in a very rude manner telling me I still only had seven days to come pick up my dress and would not extend it two days to where I actually had plans to be in that area. Overall it was very inconvenient that the dress arrived early when they told me it would not and would not extend my retrieval date when it was there mistake.
The associates are very rude and do not care about the service they are providing to the customers who ultimately pay their paychecks. The quality of the product is very cheaply made for an expensive price as well. I would not recommend getting your dresses from this store. The only reason I am giving this store any stars is because Unilocal is making me in order to continue with the post.

Over the last 10 years, I have bought 1 wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses for my wedding, and 4 bridesmaid dresses for myself from the David’s in Toledo. I have also accompanied 3 bride to their initial appointments. For the most part, service is hit or miss and depends on who is assigned to you. Typically brides get better service than bridesmaids, however sales people to both are known to disappear for random lengths of time. When I was shopping for my own bridal gown, it was so bad that my sister was the one getting me in and out of dresses because my sales lady was nowhere to be found the majority of the time.
My most recent experience with David’s, in January 2016 had both positives and negatives. The positive is that it was the best David’s experience I have ever had in finding a bridesmaid dress. The salesperson, Emily, was incredibly attentive and helpful. The bride stated I could have any dress in her color, and Emily listened to what I wanted and did all the picking out of dresses for me. She helped me try them on and also took pictures of me to send to others. The experience was actually fun, we were laughing and she helped me find the perfect dress. I was so surprised she had only been there 2 weeks, because she was easily the best salesperson I had ever worked with at David’s.
That being said, during that same visit I witnessed the manager being incredibly rude and disrespectful to a customer, so bad so that other sales people were commenting and apologizing for their manager.
In Toledo, brides shopping for bridesmaids dresses are somewhat limited if their maids come in all shapes and sizes. David’s is the only place in the area that offers multiple colors, styles, and sizes for the maids to try on. It is much easier to order a dress that you can see on a person, than just order from a catalog.
Most of my David’s experiences have been just okay. I’ve had two fantastic experiences and two terrible experiences. It’s a decent place to get a bridal gown and a great place for bridesmaids dresses.

(this was the Monroe street one in toledo Ohio) I went here and tried on three dresses and found my dress. But after that they kept calling my name over the intercom to pay for my stuff. When I still had my maid of honor to find her dress. After she found it we had to wait around for my other bridesmaid to get there. Well the lady who helped me get on my dress went to lunch so at first they were not gonna let her try on dresses, but another lady helped us and she was a lot nicer than the lady originally. Well after my dress came in a tried it on, and the alterations lady shunned me after telling her that I wasn’t going to get alterations done there it would of been 300 bucks! I can’t afford that. She then went to help another bride not even caring about me. I was angry, because even though I didn’t have an appointment she still should of payed a little more attention to me. My adivce is to go their only if it’s the last place. Only giving it 3 stars because the of the dress I found.

Take it from a bride– do not go here. They judge you «pretty woman style» as soon as you go in– I got snubbed initially because my friend was coming from work dressed nicer than myself, so of course SHE is the bride. Good start.
After I found someone to help me find dresses– or point to the ones that fit me– I found 3 that I really liked. I knew the first one I tried was the one and asked the girl how long they could hold it. It was about 3 pm and she informed me that they could only hold it til the end of the day. I exclaimed «Seriously?», then just left– sad.
Despite that, I went back to look again as I don’t have a lot of options. A more helpful, friendly, wonderful person helped me and let me hold my dress (the first one) for up to a week so my dad could see it. So the first girl who obviously mislead me about hold times put her name attached to mine so she could still get commission when I actually bought something if I were to return. I made sure THAT didn’t happen. The nice, friendly girl got me set up with alterations and a final fitting date and I was off. (Nice & Friendly always get the commission)
Alterations fitting went smooth and the final fitting date came. I had to call and reschedule the FF because it conflicted with other wedding prep that wasn’t as set as the dress. When I got there on my newly rescheduled date for my FF, they had apparently lost my appt. and had me waiting for 20 minutes in a confined fitting room. Some lady came bursting in with food in her mouth mumbling about how it’s illegal to work on your lunch and she would be back in 20 minutes. Not even 5 minutes after she left, she returned pissed off and said «Let’s do this». I am guessing a supervisor forced her to do her job and take lunch later– which makes it my fault. It also explains the resentment she harbored in NOT telling me that my dress wouldn’t fasten at the top. Didn’t find that out until I was right about to walk down the aisle. Bridesmaids scrambled to fasten my dress with a safety pin. I called them and was informed that I would have to come in for them to do anything. I was leaving the country the following day and there was no way that could happen. After I got back in the country I was immediately going to another state. So apparently if you can’t drag your dress back in there as proof of their royal screw ups– your loss.
It’s their way of saying — Enjoy your new life.
I’ll say it again– DO NOT GO HERE.

I would say that David’s Bridal is great for bridesmaids dresses or wedding accessories. The tiaras and jewelry were cheaper than some bridal boutiques. The veils here are cheaper than bridal boutiques if you aren’t too concerned with details (i.e. just a plain veil as opposed to one with lace or beading). You could probably find cheaper wedding shoes, veils, etc online but I like the convenience of trying them on and being able to see the actual condition of what you are purchasing.
As far as wedding dresses, they offer they own line from which you can find some decently priced dresses but may not be the best quality (but then again, you’re only wearing it once, right?) They also have a Vera Wang line.
Try to go there during the weekday. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends. They do have a lot of dressing rooms but maneuvering around can get tricky.
