I would give this place a 2.5 stars. Took awhile to place my order. Wish they had unlimited refills on soda and they also charge per cup of coffee so I stuck with water. Menu was a bit confusing. Went with the western omelette and thought I could add bacon for a cheap price. The charge on bacon in my omelette was 2.75, so that surprised me. The omelette was good but the hash browns were rock hard. I love crispy hash browns but these weren’t appetizing at all. Still debating if I would go back. Prices are cheap for breakfast which is a plus, but can add up if your substitute and add things on it.

This is the place to be to soak in the downtown Toledo vibe. It’s family run and the bar selection and menu is right on target. You will almost always find a politician or business meeting going on in this restaurant. The service is quick and the food is savory. Whether you get the Greek salad or cheeseburger with tator tots, any choice will not disappoint. Again, you have to try the tator tots! Their breakfast menu feels very homey and filling but you feel like you’re an executive as you look out onto Monroe with cars whipping past heading into the heart of this town.

Michaels is a great spot in downtown Toledo for breakfast and lunch. The place has a nice feel and the staff are awesome. Some of the best cheeseburgers in town. If you haven’t been I would try it out

My hubby and I stopped here for lunch the other day. We had the beef gyros, mine with fries and the hubby had tater tots. My fries were a bit undercooked and soggy, but the tater tots were good. The gyros themselves were also pretty good. The place was fairly busy, but the waitress was good, and made sure we were taken care of. Not my first choice to go in downtown, but not my last either.

Michael’s is a wonderful little café with great Midwestern and Greek specialties, as well as plenty of all-American café staples, all served large and cheap. If you’re downtown and want a quick lunch, or if you’ve never been to the Midwest before and want some good local grub, this is the place. I ordered a small chili mac, a bowl of their Greek chicken-lemon-rice soup, and a lemonade-iced-tea. The Greek chicken-lemon-rice soup is made 100% from scratch, from a recipe brought from the old country(I think by the owner’s wife?). It’s the kind of soup you can eat any season, light, but comforting. The Cincinnati-style chili atop the pasta was as hearty as ever, with the raw onions adding a nice bite, mellowed by the shredded cheese. It doesn’t look or sound like much, but seriously, it’s a wonderful dish, made special by the blend of spices in the chili. Mix it up before eating for best effect. And remember, a «small» is actually an ordinary-sized portion, with the«large» being gargantuan. Meanwhile, my mother enjoyed her eggs and sausage patties, though to me, lunch items are more a thing here than breakfast. Our friend enjoyed his cheeseburger, as well. The restaurant is divided in two wings. I’d recommend eating at the tables and booths closer to the bar, as the further wing is kind of cold at times. The staff are friendly, and the place is full of regulars. Good for groups, too – it’s not uncommon to see a crew of cops or firefighters eating here, or businesspeople looking for a quick bite between meetings. And despite all the space and the variety of items on the menu, service is always speedy. Michael’s is a classic Toledo establishment. I’d highly recommend stopping in for a little chili mac and soup if you’re nearby. It’s definitely stood the test of time and seen a lot of changes downtown, and its cheap, delicious, filling meals are the reason why.

This has to be the filthiest restaurant in Toledo. Myself and 3 friends went for lunch; lipstick CLEARLY on the glass, dirty silverware. Servers who do not tie their hair back. Asked if the gyro was lunch meat style or carved. The server said it is a real gyro… real meaning real lunch meat I guess. Repugnant restaurant.

Ended up at Michael’s due to overflowing restaurants near the Huntington Center before a concert. A local bar, great service, good food and cheap margaritas that were really good. No complaints from my friend either, all in all a good experience and we’ll definitely go back again.

Always have«Specials«which are often home made from scratch. Their soups are outstanding and all home made. Pricing is very reasonable. Family owned and operated and most of the time at least one is on premises. Service is fast and courteous. Very customer oriented. Easy walking distance to Baseball Stadium.

Great little greasy spoon in the DownTown area. Need to get in and out fast? Go before 11:30 and/or after 1pm. Good breakfast food and a great cost! Service is solid

Michael’s is the type of place you need to visit a few times to understand. Sitting at the corner of Monroe & Michigan in downtown Toledo, it’s hard to imagine there being much of a neighborhood, for a neighborhood type bar & grill to be supporting. Yet, pop in any morning, say a saturday, and you’ll be surprised to see it full of people. The food is VERY standard fare for the area. They have quality chili mac of course, nice burgers, reubens… everything you’d expect to find in a Toledo hole-in-the-wall. Nothing is bad, but nothing is particularly fantastic. The thing is, it is consistant. I know I could walk over to Michaels right now and have the exact same wonderful western omelette I had 6 years ago when I lived just down the street. I used to get to-go breakfasts all the time… wonderful griddled eggs, meat & potatoes packed up beautifully in styrofoam containers. It used to be my go-to place for a quick and easy bite. They have a nice bar with very very cheap drinks, and plenty of space to accomodate groups. They’ve expanded in recent years and now have a well lit room with windows in addition to the dimly lit, old school bar with photos hanging on the walls that imply this place has been open forever. It’s a family owned joint, with a few generations on hand at any given time. It’s a Toledo institution, and one of the last places of it’s kind in the downtown area. Next time you’re in town for a ball game, hockey game, visit to the imagination station or just some general fun… consider stopping in. It’s a nice place, and they have tater tots.
