Back in the ‘80s, we had an idea– to create the best and freshest pizza. So, we traveled worldwide in search of the finest ingredients the globe has to offer. And that was the foundation leading to the creation of PizzaPapalis®.
After a long and successful journey through Kansas for premium flour, Wisconsin for all things dairy, and many regions of Italy for the perfect tomatoes and special sauce recipe, we returned to Michigan with the foundation for our soon-to-be pizza creation in hand.
Way before we made our first pie, we vowed to use only the finest meats and vegetables, cut fresh daily to generously top a wide variety of pizzas. Indulge in our papalis Gourmet pizza that we offer as a deep dish and thin crust, and make sure to enjoy our famous spinach Special, with a three cheese blend for a definite «WOW» Factor.
There’s something for everyone, and we want everyone to fully enjoy his or her PizzaPapalis® experience. Eat hearty, have fun, and we hope to see you again soon.
History
Established in 2009.
When big hair and leg warmers were in, we hit the road. But great things take time. So, many years ago we began a search to discover a true pizza masterpiece. The first PizzaPapalis® opened in 1986 in Detroit, and we’ve been going strong ever since. There are now nine restaurants throughout Michigan offering full menus including superior soups, crispy salads, decadent desserts such as our «Deep Dish Chocolate Cookie», and much more.
Our Toledo location is the first outside of Detroit and was born on February 2, 2009. Located next to The Mudhens on the corner of Huron and Monroe Street, we have been serving up authentic deep dish pizza so great that Metro Times, Hour Detroit, City Search and Zagat continually give us rave reviews and high ratings. With nearly 30 years of success, we look forward to adding you to our long history of happy customers!
Meet the Manager
Dave K.
Manager
Dave has been with the company since they opened Toledo in February of 2009. Dave has been in the restaurant business for over 24 years mostly as a manager. Many of his staff members are from the first year, or from the time of hire for the Grand Opening. He is considered by many staff members as the best Manager in the city of Toledo! During the interview process, he is known for asking questions like what book are you reading, or what is your favorite movie, both of which tell you a lot about a person. He empowers his staff to take care of small problems that may arise and supports them with all of his heart!
