Food came out pretty sloppy on the plate but tasted ok. Building and interior is weird, not a fan. It wasn’t great but not terrible. 2.5

I am a return customer! Both occasions the food was cooked with expertise. Full of flavor opposed to so many of my favorite restaurants now falling short to the point I will not return.

As others have said, the building itself looks less than impressive. I’ve passed it a few times and didn’t give it a second thought because it seemed like a hole in the wall burger joint. That being said, after reading the reviews here on Unilocal regarding the food, I figured I’d give the place a try. And I’m very glad I did! The food itself is great and is played very well played. I tried the shrimp kabob and golden crab roll appetizers, and both were fantastic. For entrées, we got the lamb rack and the salmon wrap. Again, both were delicious. In short, as others have said, the décor and the building itself might leave to be desired. But the food is pretty damn good and will have me visiting again in the future.

Found this place on Unilocal. From the outside one may not give this place a try. But you must give it a try. On the inside its more of a hip décor with some booth seating. We started our lunch with chicken wontons and bbq shrimp appetizers. Both were very good. The shrimp was a bit small but still well cooked with a nice bbq drizzle. The chicken wontons were fresh and light. I ordered a lunch bowl. Your choose your base, your protein, and your sauce. I choose wheat noodle, steak and Thai sauce but made it spicy. The noodles were light and tasty. The sauce was peanuty and spicy as requested. The steak was tender. And veggies were grilled. Over all a great meal. We looked at the dinner menu for kicks. Lots of interesting combos and platters. Give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed!

We decided to try this place after reading about it in the Toledo City Paper, and we really enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere and décor were casual and laid back, but still sophisticated. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered the grilled Chilean sea bass, and a side of the wasabi coleslaw. The fish was cooked perfectly, with a great miso sauce, and the coleslaw packed a lot of punch and was very memorable. Because we were one of only two parties dining at the time, we received a lot of unwanted attention from the owners. We were even approached by one of the owners after parking our car in the lot, asking us how many were in our party before going inside. That was kind of off-putting.

We just ate there and I had the rack of lamb for $ 17.00 it was fantastic, my wife had the pork chop special, two huge ones for $ 21.00 they were also fabulous. The service was beyond excellent. I don’t know how they do it for the price, we will go back soon.

Went on a night when there was live music. The music wasn’t too loud that I couldn’t have a conversation, which is a nice surprise. Crab egg rolls were just okay and definitely overpriced. My lobster roll had an alright flavor, but way too high on the bread to filling ratio. Friend had chicken and scallops. She loved the scallops, but thought the chicken was dry. The salad served looked like supermarket bagged salad that was 2 weeks past the sell date(with the addition of two cherry tomatoes). The server didn’t ask for my drink order and rushed away before I could say something or put in our appetizer order. She also forgot my friend’s beer order until we were almost ready to leave. Lots of potential with this clean and friendly restaurant, but a few tweaks need to be made for it to be worth returning.

Excellent food and great menu. From the outside you are thinking greasy spoon or crappy cheeseburgers. Once inside, you think nice bar and nice, yet smaller dining area. After reading the menu, then tasting the food, you start thinking about becoming a regular patron. I’m considering moving to Ann Arbor because of Toledo’s lack of good authentic and original food, but this place makes for a good argument to stay. I’ll definitely be back.

Friendly(maybe a bit too friendly) staff and fresh, imaginative food made for a fun date night. We bought the $ 10 wine, ordered the chicken and salmon roll. All in all, worth the trip!

Good spot in Toledo. Well thought menu and nice presentation of food. Service was good albeit short staffed for lunch. Very friendly service. Smoked Salmon Roll was very tasty. All of our group enjoyed the experience.

I read about this place on Unilocal and my friend and I decided we would try it out. When we walked in it was pretty dead mostly just locals at the bar. We were seated promptly and the waitress was attentive. We ordered the handmade egg rolls and pork wontons to start. The wontons came out quick and they are freaking awesome. The worst part about them is there are only 3. The egg rolls aren’t quite what I expected. The texture was what threw me off, they are not crunchy more squishy. They were the only food that i didn’t love. The sauces that came with everything were good. My friend got a salad with his meal. It wasn’t that special and the greens looked too wet and only two grape tomatoes. He ordered the grilled chilean sea bass. It was cooked very nicely, he raved about it and finished it very quickly. He said the veggies that came with it were quite good as well. I ordered the pork sliders. They came out with a load of fries as well which i wasn’t expecting. The sliders were the same as the wontons but with slider buns so i was happy but I thought the wontons were better than the sliders. I also ordered a 5 oz filet and asparagus. The steak was very good had a nice char and good flavor, it was cooked to perfection. I ordered medium but next time I’m going medium rare. The asparagus was very good as well. The plating of everything was beautiful. My only real gripe with this place was that the owner was kind of overbearing and stood at our table talking to us too long and he did it more than once. Maybe he is just really excited about the place or maybe its just because the place was so slow there isn’t a lot for them to do, but I came there to eat good food and enjoy my friend’s company not to listen to the owner rave about everything on the menu. Next time let the food do the talking. The food does all the talking you need. I left very full and satisfied, our bill was $ 70 but it was well worth it. I’ll be back.

Well, the last review was obviously from an insider – which annoys me(facts about the chef, referring to foods as «succulent,» «it really is a party on the palate” – all makes it read like an ad). And btw, «party on the palate» might be one of the corniest names ever(hey owner, stick to calling it «POP” – the mystery of the acronym can be part of the fun). But let’s talk food. Unbelievably good, especially given Toledo standards. Crab broth soup was flavorful yet light. Chilean sea bass makes you forget your skepticism about whether it’s actually from Chile(seriously: it’s ridiculously good), and the asparagus was al dente as can be. Way to go on some awesome food. But here’s the ticket: this place needs to market more. That sign outside? Looks like a bar on the east side – it’s a banner nailed to the building. If the owners are reading: this food is upscale – market your space so people know it’s upscale. It would be a shame to lose you guys in under a year. Seriously, make sure to let Toledo know what you’ve got going on. Best of luck.

Pop is a little off the beaten path but well worth the visit. Pop is surly a party on your palate focusing on seafood with an Asian twist. The executive chef is from the the island of Bali bringing his unique Asian flavor blended with the use of more succulent fruit and tangy flavors. Coupled with excellent fresh seafood, no item on the Menu will disappoint. After a long deliberation over some great cucumber water I chose the BBQ swordfish. It was superb and it was very healthy. the sauce was a tangy flavor which went perfectly with the tender fresh swordfish. For an appetizer I had golden crispy calamari that was as good as any that I have tasted. And for dessert I had an amazing crème brûlée that was special for Valentine’s Day it was actually two different ones the first was chocolate and the other was cherry both set ablaze at our table to give the crème brûlée it’s signature crunchy topping. All in all I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the Toledo area and I will eat at pop anytime I’m in the Toledo.
