I wish I could give this place a negative star. The bread there is stale. I don’t believe that the bread is freshly baked everyday… The cookies are worse than the ones in ShopRite in Manchester Township NJ. The desserts and puddings are horrible and they taste like cheap fake cream whipped up by Crisco shortening. Any grocery store, Costco or Walmart has much better pastry and desserts than this place. I will never go back to this place again. This is the worst bakery I had ever tried. The Gelato there is also horrible, which is watery and it tastes something that is made out of a cheap powder mix…

Great cannolis. Everything tastes homemade. Like going here for dessert after eating at one of the restaurants across the street.

Decent pastries with custom ordered BDay cupcakes, but horrible and f****** rude customer service.

Best cannoli I’ve EVER had. The cannoli cream is made from scratch every morning(I know this because I used to work at La Scala a couple years ago) the bread is delicious and tossed at the end of every day and freshly baked the next morning. Not a a huge fan of the cookies but the pastries you can go wrong! A little pricey but worth it.

I haven’t been here since I was a child. To be honest I don’t remember the actual shop at all. I do fondly remember their cookies from picking them up on the way to Sunday supper with my Italian grandparents. It’s been at least 15 years since I had been there or had any baked goods. It was a sentimental treat to visit this bakery with my mom recently. The bakery is small and has most tradition Italian type pastries and cookies. They also sell semolina bread and delicious marbled cookies. I can’t vouch for everything here as I only recently tried the giant marbled cookie and an ossi di morti cookie. What I had was great and I definitely recommend this bakery.

The selection wasn’t that great for pastries or bread. In a pinch it’s not bad, I guess, but I’m going to try to find a better place. The service was less than friendly & almost robotic. I score it, mediocre at best.

So, Sal’s in Jackson closed and the only place to get pastries, etc., is Shop Rite or Stop & Shop. Not my idea of great pastry … Found this place yesterday and decided to give it a try. Upon entering their store I was assailed by a feast for the eyes — numerous shelves of pastry items and breads. The attendant even apologized for the«small» selection and told me to be sure to return on the weekend for a larger selection. Do they put stuff in the parking lot? I chose three items, Tira Misu, a peach confection and a cheesecake item. They were reasonably priced and two out of three were delicious — the third item will meet its fate very shortly. Full range of cookies, cakes, pies go along with the hundreds of other items avaiable.

EHH. if u know a good cannoli then you should not go to La Scala … they pre-fill them and they sit warm & filled all day… WHAT. even andrew dice clay wouldnt eat that OHH! Plus my last two experiences included rude and completely careless employees. Bottom Line is cream should stay in bag in fridge, shells should be kept in clean & covered storage & filled per order… sum1 show me a better bakery in toms river please. cause when i was younger this place WAS on point…

This italian bakery is wonderful! Good selection of italian patries such as biscotti, cookies, and cakes. My favorites are the eclairs and the canolis. If you’re not sure what to get, there’s a platter that has a sample of almost everything.

Great canolies and pastries. They also have a large selection of Italian cookies. There really isn’t anything close to this for Italian pastries in the area.
