Maurice Tailors

This is a great tailor. Timely and professional and can quickly alter a garment. The quality of his tailoring is spot on and better than most places I have been to. I have recommended Maurice’s to several friends who have all been going back to have a variety of items tailored. He does a great job tailoring suits and ladies dresses. Maurice himself is a very kind and chatty gentleman whom you can tell has tons of experience.

Maurice is super friendly! Took 2 pairs of dress pants in to be hemmed. Dropped them off on Monday, picked them up Friday. Very happy with the work done. My only complaint is that $ 24 for 2 pairs of pants seems a little pricey.

After I purchased my wedding dress, I asked the shop for a list of tailors. I had gone to Maurice’s back a few years ago when he was on Main Street but wasn’t sure if he did wedding dresses.
I called Prestige Tailoring and Alterations by Lena and got absolute horrible customer service on the phone. Lena even told me «no» before knowing my wedding date. Prestige said they would call me back but never did.
I called Maurice on a whim and sure enough, he does wedding dresses! I took my dress in and showed him what I needed. He even made a suggestion on pinning it up at the shoulders to make it look even better. The bill came to about $ 65, which I thought was a great price. I had budgeted $ 200 for dress alterations. I told Maurice that I would need my dress by October 10^th at the latest.
Maurice completed my alterations a month early! I went in and tried the dress on and it was absolutely perfect!
Maurice is incredibly friendly, funny, and hard working! I came here with my Maid of Honor and she said he reminds her of her Grandfather and we were both in stiches laughing at his jokes.
I will definitely come here again and again!

Great service!!! I was in a jam and needed new suit pants hemmed in 2 days for a wedding out of town. I Googled local Niagara Falls and Tonawanda tailors. All the tailors I called could not meet my deadline. I came across Maurice Tailors and saw good reviews on Unilocal so I called. Maurice cheerfully answered and told me «No Problem.» I brought the suit in later that afternoon. Maurice greeted me as if we were old friends! He asked me to try on the suit to check that all was a good fit. He quickly took my measurements. Besides hemming the pants I had also asked that he press the suit. He gladly did this for a very reasonable fee. 1.5 days later he was done! From now on, I will bring all of my family tailoring to Maurice and highly recommend him.

Do not go here if you have a wedding dress. I put on my dress, told Maurice that I wanted a sweetheart neckline put in, and he simply looked at it and said «oh that can’t be done because the beads and thread, blah, blah, blah.» Then he ended with «but it’s a beautiful dress!»
Wow thanks for nothing. The funny part of this is that two other tailors in the area had no problem with altering the neckline and it turned out great… so Mauruces’ is very lazy and not skillful at all.

Maurice came highly recommended from a friend. I brought in 3 skirts and 3 pairs of pants. The pants were nice Calvin Klein pants that were part of suits. They needed to be hemmed and I asked that they be taken in at the bottom. The skirts, on the other hand, needed to be completely reconstructed. Wow– I am still amazed at the job Maurice did. The one skirt that I bought in Scotland on a whim was high wasted and really unflattering. I haven’t worn it in 4 years and would have never worn it again, unless this work was done to it. Now, I cannot wait to wear it! The other skirts were given to me by a friend who used to wear them in her youth. They were also a high-​wasted style and he did an amazing job fitting them to me. The pants look AMAZING. I really love a skinny, more tailored pant leg, and he was able to work miracles with these pants. I will be back!

This is the best tailor I’ve ever been to. He and his wife do superb work. They are friendly, timely with alterations, and the prices are reasonable! Will never go anywhere else for alterations!

Great service. Brought in a expensive pencil skirt that needed to be brought down about an entire size. Maurice did a great job the skirt. Doesn’t even look like work was done to it. A little pricey but you get what you pay for !

I’ve reviewed before… and will again as I take more items for alterations at Maurice Tailors. They do the finest work, very timely and VERY reasonable. The other five-​star reviews are spot on… and have never ever experienced what I read on the one-​star review and find it very hard to believe that someone could be that dissatisfied with the character and workmanship of Maurice.

Poor customer service. Job not done correctly. Very defensive. Highly unprofessional. I am a very easy going person and I left there shocked and nothing was resolved. Wanted double the money to do the job again. I would not go back to him. I advise women with formal dresses to go elsewhere.

Maurice did a WONDERFUL job taking in my husbands suit. It looks awesome. He has my blazer right now and I can’t wait to see it finished!

Maurice is a professional. Prices are reasonable. Turnaround is fast. That’s all you need to know.

Best Taylor I have ever been too! I’m short so I’ve been to a lot of Taylor’s. Maurice did the best job hemming my wedding dress– which was multiple layers with lace. I brought it in two weeks before the wedding and he had it done in one week. Turned out absolutely beautiful. He went above and beyond for me. I highly recommend this business. And will be coming back for anything I ever need hemmed again.

I took me along time to find a good tailor in Buffalo, but now I have been going here for about 5 years and have never had a problem. Always fast, and exactly how I want it done. Beside tailoring I have gotten my dry cleaning done, and have never had a problem with that either. Highly recommended.

Mediocre. If you just need very basic alterations (hemming, etc.), it’s probably acceptable, but the expertise, skill, and attention to detail are just plain lacking for anything more complex.
I really wanted to like this shop: great Unilocal reviews, bright and inviting interior (for a tailor shop, anyway), and relatively close to other frequent destinations for me. Maurice is enthusiastic and friendly, and his wife (who I should mention is apparently a Chayban – yes, that name should sound familiar if you’re looking at tailors in WNY) has an amusingly gruff grandmotherly attitude. The shop is next to a decent hole in the wall Korean (mostly Korean Chinese) restaurant, so if you’re hungry and have a taste for the cuisine that’s nice.
But… alas, results were subpar. Unless you really don’t need much done or don’t care about your clothes, look elsewhere – I personally recommend making the trek to Prestige Tailoring in North Buffalo instead.

Maurice is amazing! I was looking for someone to take some length off of my wedding dress (which had five layers of all types of fabric, from lace to chiffon) and he did such a fantastic job! The dress looked incredible and he was so friendly and delightful to work with! My husband even remarked on how he was the «nicest guy in the world» and «could make any bad day a million times better just by spending a minute or two with him.» If you’re looking for great service, great prices, and just an all around great guy to work with, then you need to go to see Maurice.
Note: the location was a little tricky for me to find, but he’s located in the small plaza on Niagara Falls Blvd near Eggert that has the Alfred Angelo store and a few other small businesses.

I have officially found my tailor for life! I brought in a one piece bathing suit that was loose in the chest. I have never had a bathing suit altered so I was nervous but Maurice did an OUTSTANDING job. My bathing suit fits perfectly! And the price was perfect as well! He takes such pride in his work and it shows beautifully

I admit that I’m one of ‘those people’ that frequently references Unilocal to find out where to go for a particular service, without ever personally contributing a review… until now. It was because of Unilocal that I found this expert tailor (see reviews connected to his previous business location listed at
), and I am so impressed and enthralled with Maurice and his work that I’m signing up with Unilocal today in order to share my experience and post this raving and well-​deserved review.
Maurice greets every customer with enthusiasm and a smile that reveals how genuinely good-​natured, big-​hearted, and accommodating he is. His honesty, warmth, and friendliness could win anyone over, but his efficiency and the quality of his work will keep me coming back as a lifelong customer. My body type is not an easy one to fit; I’m very petite in every dimension and clothes almost NEVER fit me right off the rack. I must dress professionally for my job, and kids’ clothes just don’t cut it. I brought 5 dresses and a business suit to Maurice, all in need of fairly extensive alterations. These garments, coming from a top-​notch British clothing line known for their exquisite tailoring and detail, did not have typical, run-​of-​the-​mill, straight seams; I knew the alterations would require a creative tailor with skilled hands. Having used Maurice once before for some minor alterations, I went to him. He listened and accommodated every one of my requests, offering honest suggestions when asked.
One dress needed only a hem, but the others needed to be taken in at the shoulders/​straps, sides and bust seams, and at the hems. To make the suit fit, he shortened the sleeves at the shoulder seams, took in the body of the jacket and the seat (mid-​seam) of the pants, and narrowed the hips/​thighs. I asked Maurice if he could have the suit done in a week, but there was no rush on the dresses. I dropped my clothes off on a Monday; he called me that Saturday, only FIVE DAYS later, to tell me that he had finished EVERYthing.
Maurice greeted me eagerly when I came to pick up my clothes, and I could tell he was proud and satisfied with his own work. Considering the changes he made to these pieces, they might as well have been custom-​made from scratch by him. The quality of his work is outstanding and the clothes hang perfectly on me. What a difference it makes to have clothes that fit! I feel transformed, classy, and attractive — all thanks to Maurice. He gets my absolute highest recommendation and deserves more than 5 stars for both his artistry and his customer service.
