So I drove by this place for years after we moved to town thinking«Custard?!? BARF!» Well, I was ignorant. One day, a thankful customer of mine asked if she could bring me, «some cheese.» She had previously told me about how she smokes Gouda and other yummy stuff in her grill/smoker thing, so I thanked her and said, «sure!» I was surprised when she was back in just 15 minutes with a little styrofoam cup and asked if I like chocolate… I mean, she lives like, 20 minutes away or something – what, did she keep cheese in her trunk? Wait… did she just say, «chocolate?» So she actually asked if she could bring me, «some G’s.» So the spoon on the styrofoam cup made sense and then my inner face melted. I’dn’t tasted such a rich yummy cold dairy treat in my life! AND I grew up in Pittsburg where PICCO(Pittsburg Ice Cream COmpany) taught my tasters that the stuff in the store freezer can only be so good. Ice Cream, Frozen Yoghurt, Ice Milk, Gelato, Frozen Custard… they’re each different. What’s absolutely different and better about G’s than all the other frozen custard shops in town is the quality. There are several – perhaps dozens – of products available from dairies which get turned into this cold stuff we love to eat. G’s gets the very highest quality available – the others just… don’t. It costs a touch more, but you can taste it and it’s totally worth it!

i’ve been here a handful of times and their frozen custard is always on point. On my last visit, I had a sundae instead of a cup. The Maui Wowie sundae came with a scoop of frozen custard, fresh banana, pineapple, coconut, whipped cream and a cherry. Very, very good though I did find myself wishing for a little pop of acidity somewhere. Maybe a tiny bit of lime with the pineapple?
