History
Established in 1987.
I took over the Animal Lovers when it was a full grooming facility for cats and dogs. The store did not have the exotic birds that we now carry; it only carried wild finches, canaries and cockatiels as well as fish and reptiles. It was in 1989 that Palos Verdes Bird Farm closed and I agreed to take care of their customers and a handful of their birds. With the help of two of the Bird Farm employees and fellow breeders I learned how to breed and hand feed finches to macaws. We bread our own baby birds for 10 years, as well as purchased them from other breeders. Although I do not currently breed my own birds, I continue to hand feed, nurture and socialize baby birds that I receive from local reputable breeders. We phased out the dog and cat grooming and fish, and concentrated on birds and reptiles. At the same time we continued carrying food and supplies necessary for all animals. For the health and security of the animals, in 1997 I opened the Boarding Facility.

Business Owner
Tomi took over the Animal Lovers in June of 1987, which was a full grooming facility for cats and dogs. At the time the store did not have the exotic birds that we now carry, it only carried wild finches, canaries and cockatiels as well as fish and reptiles. It was in 1989 when the Palos Verdes Bird Farm closed, that she agreed to take care of their customers and a handful of their birds. she embarked on a journey that she never regretted.
Not having experience in birds, she hired a few of their employees to help in the transition. We have been fortunate to have reliable and experience avian specialists since then. With their help along with fellow breeders she learned how to breed and hand feed finches to macaws. For approximately 10 years we were breeding our own baby birds, as well as purchasing baby birds from other breeders. Although she did not currently breed her own birds, she continue to hand feed, nurture and socialize baby birds that she receive from local reputable breede
