Dr. Chen is friendly, knowledgeable and caring. As a family practitioner he will access your particular needs after thorough blood work, scans etc. to send you on to the proper specialists.
He even popped in to see how I was doing during a hospital stay. Has your doctor done that?

Great doctor! Knowledgable, informative and understanding.
He cares about your health and well being. It was my first visit and felt very comfortable with him. I Highly recommend Dr Chen and his staff.

He doesn’t really DO anything. He comes in, listens to why you are there so he can decide what specialist to send you to. He does no treatment whatsoever. Most of the time he is not even looking at you so you know he’s listening because he’s staring at his laptop at your last visit notes and then making new visit notes.
If you want a list of specialists to go to, this is your guy. He will do no treatment whatsoever. So be prepared to have lots of free time to visit all these doctors he will refer you to.
He once had me visit a cardiologist for no reason and I went through a bunch of tests for nothing, just to find out I was fine.
Another time I asked him for a prescription for cortisone cream for my skin. Nope. He referred me to a dermatologist.

But the 2 stars is directly towards the staff working at this Torrance Memorial call center and/​or facility
The call system is awful. They are rude upon picking up and rude throughout. They are also continuously transferring you back and forth, and sound annoyed when you are simply trying to reach your specific doctor.
I’m not trying to waste your time, either.

Dr. Chen is my new PCP and I felt quite comfortable with him. I’m not a very chatty person so I appreciate his no nonsense approach. He asks all the right questions and was friendly and accommodating. He was also more than willing to answer my questions and address my concerns.
He inputs everything into his laptop and I don’t mind it at all. Some people may want to be coddled during their appointments, but I’d rather get checked out, get answers/​prescriptions etc. and be on my merry way.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Chen. Additionally, the front desk and nurse who helped me were all very nice and personable.

Dr Chen is great doctor, I had no doubt about that.

My 2 stars goes to Memorial hospital network. They simply CHARGE too much.
I’m 26 and wanted to get a «general check up» just b/​c I paid for medical insurance very month and havn’t been to the doctors for years.
I had two appointments + one blood check.
Two visits were fairly shorts, urine check + few physical examination by the doctor.
So entire bill came 2 month later, total was about $ 750 and I was responsible about $ 350…I don’ have the best insurance but this what I charge for general check ups. Surprised…
Please check with your insurance benefits before you go in… they are very expensive. I’m planning to find another local family doctor with smaller office.

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star! I just left and it was the worst Dr. Office I have ever gone to!!! They were so rude and snoby towards me… I went to get my prescription renewed bc I’m from out of state and just moved here and they tried to take full advantage of me by demanding I pay for a EKG that I was telling them I did not want… they did the ekg it wasn’t reading right and still charged me for it!!! an EKG takes a good 20 mins to read and I was only laying there for about 6 mins! it was such bogus! !! Then told me they suggest I get thyroid testing done! I’m 26 years old… they tried to take full advantage of me I’m guessing bc i dont have insurance so they tried to squeeze every penny they could out of me… I strongly suggest if your looking for a doctor you don’t go here!!! It was the worst experience everrrrrr!!! I left with horrible anxiety bc of how horrible the doc and nurs’s were to me and treated me with such disrespect toward me as there patient! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DR. OFFICE!!!

Today I saw Dr. Chen for the first time. I personally don’t like visiting the doctor but my wife push me to see one for regular check up. I said fine. Dr. Chen is a wonderful Dr not like any other. He takes his laptop and take lots of notes. Pays attention to you and not forcing you out.

Dr. Chen is an outstanding doctor. I’ve had three different insurance plans over the last seven years, but I always make sure that Dr. Chen is my family’s primary physician.
Dr. Chen is knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He has provided outstanding care time and again, and I appreciate that he’s been accommodating and seen us on short notice.
Note: He is about to move his office from 3640 Lomita to another location in Torrance.

The MA’s at the front desk are on top of it! They make sure I get in and out, which is great when you’ve got a little one with you and a busy schedule. High five to the staff!

great PCP and lovely staff (esp. Cindy). she’s so nice and very accommodating. the only thing i don’t like is the wait time… last time I waited over 30 mins for my appointment :(which made me late for my other appointment. bad news bears!

Dr Chen is very thorough and makes sure his patients receive the highest quality of care. In my experience he is always making sure he has all bases covered and that is very reassuring. I feel particularly well taken care of under his care. His staff is very friendly and helpful too.
I highly recomment Dr. Chen to anyone looking for a primary care doctor.

My fun fact: I hardly go see a doctor.
Because of that, I didn’t have a primary physician and was on a hunt for one when my work insurance forced me to go get check ups and preventive exams. I asked my friends through Facebook for any recommendation and Dr. Chen was nominated.
First thing I noticed about Dr. Chen is that he has ah-​mazing staff members. Everyone from receptionists to the nurses are all very friendly and welcoming. They make you feel at ease. :)
The only downside is that the wait have been semi-​long (approx 10 – 15 mins) each time I went but I’m guessing all doctors are like that? Anyway, my first impression of Dr. Chen is that he’s organized and thorough. When I had my first consultation with Dr. Chen, he took all the notes down in his laptop and explained to me very thoroughly if I had any question. I felt uncomfortable at first to do my well-​women exam with a male doctor but I felt okay with Dr. Chen (and of course, a female nurse is present in the room!). Lastly Dr. Chen doesn’t waste time. You won’t feel rushed but he’ll make the exams short & sweet.
All in all, I like Dr. Chen’s service so far. Hopefully going to a physician will become a routine thing for me and I will definitely visit Dr. Chen if that’s the case.

I saw Dr. Chen for my first appointment today. I was greeted by an amazing staff, who were super friendly and they all shook my hand and welcomed me. The awesome MA came and got me, and was quick with vitals. Wend Dr. Chen came he looked right at me and stuck out his hand to shake mine. He comes in with a laptop to take notes, which I love because to me that says he is organised and it makes the prescriptions, and notes easy to read. I went in for my asthma. I have never had a doctor talk with me so detailed about my asthma in my life. He spoke with me actively about my care, and how I felt about the care options he offered me. He also explained to me why he was asking the questions he was asking, and advised me what he got out of my answers. I left, for the first time in my life, comfortable and smiling from the doctors office. I am so glad I found him! I totally recommend him to anyone who is looking for a great doctor with an amazing staff.

As Sandy P. wrote, I too met Dr. Chen when he was at the Carestation and gladly followed him when he opened his own office in Torrance. Dr Chen really does provide quality care for his patients. I never feel rushed or confused about what my course of treatment is when Dr Chen speaks with me. The wait in his office is very minimal and the office staff… top notch!
Bottom line, if you are searching for a family practice doctor, you should give Dr. Chen a try. He really is an exceptional doctor.

I found Dr. Chen’s services to be quite generic and he always seemed hard pressed to spend more than 5 minutes discussing my health or answering questions. I’ve recently changed to a different doctor who I am quite happy with but I miss Dr. Chen’s excellent staff.

Dr Anthony Chen was my doctor when i used to go to Little Company of Mary and when i learned he had left, i was disappointed. But i got a notice that he had branched out on his own and i am really glad that he had because now if i do need to see him, there is no long wait. He is simply one of the best, cream of the crop. He is knowledgeable, professional, compassionate and thoughtful and mostly i love that he is very conservative when prescribing his prescriptions and evaluating your current health conditions. He also takes the time to explain to you what is going on and explains what the meds will do for you. Every visit, i always feel at ease and feel much better having seen him. I highly recommend Dr Chen to anybody who needs a doctor’s visit!
