History

Established in 1979.

Carnitas El Indio was opened in October of 1979 by Jaime Gonzalez Sr. and Domitila Covarrubias. Since opening it’s doors in 79, we have been serving the community the best fresh authentic mexican food in the south bay. From our tacos, burritos, to full dinner plates, we used the best meats and freshest ingredients resulting in some of the tastiest mexican food around. Come by and check us out, give us a taste. Opened Monday through Sunday, 8:30 am to 9:00 pm.

Born and raised in TORRANCE, this was the only spot every and any paisa would go. My parents brought us us here all the time. Their burritos al pastor y mojados are the best. My dad would order the 7mares. But know matter what, everything you eat here will always be good. Place is remodeled and looks better. Last but not least, they serve the best milk shake in the world, un liquado always hits the spot. I’ll always return and if possible I’ll have a stroke here and be happy.

Decent food, but I think they need more than one waitress, around 12:00 it got super busy and people where waiting just to get the menu. Chile verde chilaquiles where eh, I’ve had better, but I was just craving them today so we really tried to find a good Mexican spot. Everyone was really nice. It’s a 50⁄50 if I will come back here.

We were looking for some Mexican food and happened to find this place on Unilocal.Lots of Mexican customers so that was a good sign. Waitress took our order and immediately after brought over some chips and salsa. Salsa was nothing special. I had to ask the waitress for some napkins and utensils. We had the chile verde wet burrito and the enchiladas. The wet burrito was delicious and tasty. The enchiladas not so tasty. Rice and beans were good but I’ve had way better enchiladas. Place seemed clean and customer service was ok. If you do come here get the wet burrito! You won’t be disappointed!

am gonna base my review off what I ordered. I ordered a wet birria burrito. the burrito has zero favor and the birria was dry as hell. I only went here since it was within walking distance. not gonna try anything else from here.

We woke up today really wanting some authentic Mexican chilaquiles… We came down to this restaurant because I remember a few friends ordering the dish when we came here for taco night. They really delivered the beans and rice are on point along with the 2 sunny side up eggs that I asked for on top and the sauce for the main component was just perfectly done. This is definitely our spot for this dish. Best I’ve had so far in a restaurant.

Ate here last night. Ladies were nice. Always asked if my boyfriend and I needed something. Never kept us waiting for long. As soon as we finished our chips n dip they came and asked if we needed more. I got a wet red burrito my boyfriend got a ham torta — delicious !! The French fries tasted fresh and home made. Love this place. And for the both of us with both meals and horchatas with refills was only $ 20. Will definitely be coming back !

Since moving back down to L.A. We haven’t been able to find a decent Mexican place. We went here I a whim. Let me say this, In the words of Guy Fierri the carnitas are «MONEY». Only gave 4 stars cause we only tried one thing. Definitely will come back to try other things.

Chile Verde was good, but not the best I have had. I’ll be back to try the Carnitas.
Casual place for lunch. Friendly staff. Mostly mexican customers, that’s always a good sign at a Mexican restaurant.

Amazing food! Soccer news/​games on the television what else can I ask for? Pretty good customer service, food is delicious, and the horchata is great. I would definitely recommend anyone to try this place out.

Tasty and cheap eats! Most tacos are $ 1.70. Points for having real barbacoa that isn’t weird stuff that you get at that burrito chain. Also good carnitas and decent carne asada. The lengua is a considerable up charge so I’ll have to try it when I’m feeling a bit richer. ;-) The salsas aren’t bad but they don’t have much heat.

I always get the burrito mojado with carne asada. That’s the wet carne asada burrito for those that don’t habla. The rest of the menu looks pretty good but I’ve never tried anything else even though I’ve been going there for years. Recently renovated so that’s nice. The only thing I don’t like is that the servers there just can’t seem to crack a smile. They always seem like they don’t want to be there. One time they got the order wrong and what seems to me to be the head server got argumentative with me. Now I only order food to go and that’s only if my kids really insist.

Good food, I got chile verde. it was ok, it would have been better if it was spicy. it had no kick at all. husband got carnitas. he loved them. little to bland for me… service was great, she kept checking on us if we needed something, very friendly. will definitely go back.

SMALL PORTIONS!!! I watched the guy make my chili Verde burrito n it was small like a taquito. Then smashed it down into a box to make it fit like it was a lot larger. Then warmed it up n a microwave? Also the price on the menu is $ 6.50 n total I paid $ 9.50? Idk but if u want to get food for ur money don’t go there.

Omg this place was packed today had to wait for a table, omg again freakin beans were sooooo gooood but I was so full off my fav cocktail, my baby girl finally found her fav dish eggs beans rice, my Sidney her same enchilada dish, I got all my lemon hot salsa, thank u owners of this place for making the food be so tasty

This place was recommended by someone. Tried it for the 1st time today, the food wasn’t bad. I rate the food 3 stars, service 2 stars and value 1star. I ordered Al pastor combination plate. They charged $ 1.25 for small condiment container oh guacamole and the plate looked half full. Very disappointed and not a good value.
