We needed a very specific couch to function as both an office piece and a very comfortable queen size sleeper sofa (without your usual bulky sleeper sofa look!). The problem was that we have a very narrow door opening and finding a couch to get into that door opening took – and I’m not kidding you – 5 years. We checked every store (Upscale Orange County couch specialty stores, Scandinavian Designs, Macy’s, Ikea, etc), and truly, not one piece could fit.
We finally found Contemporary Lifestyles and took a visit. With a short description of our idea, Tom instantly knew what we wanted and exactly the piece to show us. A high quality, elegant leather couch that functions as a queen size sofa sleeper w/​a comfy Serta mattress.
The piece arrived today after only a few short weeks after ordering it. We are so delighted and thankful to Tom and Contemporary Lifestyles. Tom personally called us today to confirm every detail to our convenience – now that is customer service to its best! :) The delivery team deserves great recognition too! They were so careful, clean, and truly professional.

This is the second time that I purchased furniture from Contemporary Lifestyles! I just love this place! Tom and Nelson are very knowledgeable and helpful in helping you get exactly what you want.
I just purchased a beautiful dinning room table and 6 chairs. It was delivered yesterday, just in time for Thanksgiving.
In the past I have ordered custom made furniture from them: my sofa and entertainment center which I still own and love!
The quality of the merchandise that they sell is up there and is better in quality and price than a big department store such as Macy’s. They also have very unique furniture along with classic style!
If you’re looking for furniture, I definitely recommend this store!

I was commissioned to do an interior design job for a local real estate company that was opening originally in August. They had a very low budget and it seemed impossible to meet their needs with the results they wanted to accomplish.
I met Tom when I walked into his showroom. He’s very helpful. He worked with my budget and was professional and responsive. The project wasn’t ready until November and he held the furniture for me no problem.
He was there for the delivery and made sure I was happy with all the furniture. I will definitely use him again for my next job. Good quality for the price I paid and if I had a better budget, the furniture in his showroom is outstanding!

Very nice to their customers. I bought a couch here when we moved to Torrance, love it — looks great in our house. Bought some fabric stools online from another store, but unfortunately they came in the wrong color. Contemporary Lifestyles put new fabric on the stools in less than a week for us for a very good deal because they knew we were customers. The store is full of high quality contemporary modern furniture pieces — stuff hard to find at the cheapo places. Check it out if you are looking for a lifelong product.

I loved this place, Nelson treated me like a rock star… I had my eye on HAVEN desk Elite Modern for a year now… Then I saw it on «Empire» in Cookie’s office… I wanted it even more.
Nelson gave a great price (I shopped the hell out of it) I bought a stylish comfy desk chair to match and the delivery cost was very reasonable. I can’t wait for it to arrive.

We bought a new house in the Palm Springs area and we found most of what we needed from them. Tom and his staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, left us alone to browse then were there when we needed them to answer all of our questions. Good value for everything that we bought. We would recommend them to all of our friends and family.

My wife and I were looking for two leather chairs to add to our family room and visited Contemporary Lifestyles because we had liked their modern inventory on a previous visit. Nelson was very low key but helpful in answering our questions. We found two beautiful leather swivel chairs that matched our décor and were reasonably priced. Delivery was made on the scheduled day and time, and the delivery men were very courteous and careful when bringing in the heavy chairs. One of the chairs’ platforms squeaked a bit and we reported it to the store. Tom came out and when he was unable to address the issue on the chair he immediately ordered us a replacement. Nelson and Tom kept on top of the situation until we were completely satisfied with a new chair. We were very impressed with the service we received from Contemporary Lifestyles and recommend it to those who are looking for upscale, modern furniture.

i bought one bar stool to test to see if it fit the space I was trying and explained to the salesperson if it didnt work out i would bring it back– within 2 weeks a reasonable time for a return– i brought the stool back and they said they would not take it back because i said i would bring it back in a day– my life doesnt revolve around driving back and forth to furniture stores– i bought the stool– its great — but it doesnt fit my space and i cannot use it– they said they would take it back
on another note– regarding restocking– the stool came off the shelf on the wall and had no box or was not assembled for me– it was all in one piece and to restock the item all they have to do is walk it over and put it on the shelf
all they had to do was think about this 1 customer who might come back and spend more money and refer friends– however — im writing a bad review, wont come back and will make sure to tell my friends not to come here

place is 100 degrees inside because they cant afford AC and no customers both times i went there
GO TO LIVING SPACES– ITS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET

They offer modern and chic furniture such as sofas, dining tables, lamps, etc. I really like what they have to offer here except all of the couches are uncomfortable to sit on (I like to have some type of back support when I sit to prevent back pain. I know, I’m an oldie –_​_​_​-​) and the dining tables and chairs are so heavy! They don’t seem to offer comfortable and practical appliances. Although this could just be the practical side of me writing ;)

I don’t know what it is but business must be slow for these guys. I’ve come here in the past with my mom and family and usually we just shop and buy what we are looking for and don’t have a problem when doing so.
Anyways I stopped by one afternoon per request of a friend to check out some bed frames to furnish their place and thinking it would be fine, I walked in.
Okay first they greet me which is good (but why were you smirking at me when I got in, because I’m only 21!?), then I proceed to walk around and take pictures of the frames for my friend since they are out of town and quite busy. How else am I going to describe the bed and what it looks like?
When I’m done they ask me «What are you looking for bud?»
I tell them I’m «looking for bed frames for a friend»
And then
They rudely tell me «well next time bring your friend and they can look» and proceeded to stare me down until I walked out of the store.
These new owners or salesman are pretty rude compared to the older guy who retired. You can find this furniture anywhere else and probably online without going thru the hassle of the bald guy and the guy with glasses. Luckily I’m swoll (buff) enough to keep them at the counter! But seriously though, if you want rude attitudes for what they sell and want for it then go here, if not look elsewhere.

We bought a leather rocker from here. We later purchased bedroom furniture and then had a coffee table made. Everything is nicely made and we were happy with our service.

Rudest people I’ve ever met in my entire life. I’ve never been more offended. Liars and disrespectful is what they are. Will never step foot in here again. Regret buying anything from them.

I went to the store to look around since I’m shopping for a sofa. As soon as I walked in, this guy named Tom approached me. Told him nicely I’m just looking thinking he’d leave me alone. Oh boy was I wrong!!! He followed me everywhere and started to showing me every sofa that he has on the first floor of his store! I kept on saying that’s nice, uh huh, oh good… etc. This guy wouldn’t leave me alone. So I picked out a sofa that I liked and asked him the price. Guess what he said… Go ahead and bring your husband with his checkbook and if he’s ready to purchase, then I will tell you the price. WTF??? Seriously? This guy is a joke LOL. The only time my husband will come in is to kick his bonny ass for acting cocky and rude.
I took a few pics of the sofa and went on to the manufacturer’s website and couldn’t find it!!! So I called a couple of authorized retailers and was told that there is no such model number & style from this manufacture. They all confirmed that he probably changed the style name so ppl can’t shop around for better price! It gets better… they also confirmed that the model might be discontinued one. So if I order that model, the owner will charge my credit card and later tell me it’s discontinued so I have no choice but to order different model. Hmmm, whatever the reason is this Tom guy is funky and can’t be trusted from my point of view. He doesn’t seem like an
ethical businessman. Would not purchase anything from this store.

Contemporary Lifestyles made my vision come true!
While shopping for a sectional for my new condo I came across this store. On my first visit, the man behind the counter wasn’t very friendly. But despite that, I liked some of their pieces so I went back for a second look. During my second visit, Michael greeted me and was very friendly. He allowed me to browse without hovering over me.
There were aspects about various sectionals/​sofas that I liked, so he advised me to combine them all into my own custom piece. He walked me through every aspect of building my sectional. They make the furniture pieces themselves, so the possibilities are endless!
After placing my order, the customer service was great! Micheal contacted me via phone and email with questions and his concerns throughout the process. He even thought about the size of my elevator and how he would deliver the sectional.
The end result was fantastic! Exactly how I designed it! It’s been almost a year and still love it! I would definitely go back to Contemporary Lifestyles for my future furniture needs.

I’m In the same situation as the people that listed Michael.
He specifically indicated our bed could be modified to allow box springs. When it was delivered, it wasn’t modified. My fiancé called Michael on he phone and he gave her the run around. I went in and questioned him. Michael claimed he was talking about a different bed that could be modified. I had to point out we never looked at the other bed.
The guy is a used car salesmen. Do not believe a word from him.

I bought two bar stools from this store. Although the style of the bar stools are ok but the price is high. It cost around $ 400 for two bar stools. The bar stools I liked were not in stock, the store employee «Michael» said it will take a week for them to deliver from their San Diego warehouse. I placed the order for the bar stools and paid in full in the store. After I left the store (approx. 10 minutes later), my wife decided to go to other contemporary furniture store, and we found some similar bar stools with almost half the price. So, we decided to cancel the order and get a full refund. When I called Michael at the Contemporary Lifestyles, he stated that since I sign the purchase agreement, it will be a 30% restocking fee for return product even I haven’t received the bar stools yet. The bar stools were still in the San Diego warehouse. I explained to Michael that it is unreasonable for them to charge me 30% restocking fee because they haven’t ship the product from warehouse yet. But Michael insisted to stick with the contract and charged me 30% restocking fees.
I disputed with my credit card company and the credit card company couldn’t help me because I signed the contract. In legally stand point, I know I have no chance to win because I signed the contract. But for them to charged me 30% restocking fee even I didn’t pick up the bar stools and the bar stools were still in the San Diego ware house; that was totally wrong. That’s not the way a business should treat their customers if they want the return customers,.
I can understand if they charged me 30% restocking fee after I picked up the bar stools or the bar stools were already ship from the warehouse. This is completely wrong and unacceptable!
I strong recommend everyone not to buy anything from Contemporary Lifestyles, they products are overpriced and they have poor customer service. Plummer is a better choice if you want to buy contemporary furniture.

NO! STAY AWAY!
I had the exact same experience as Jessie and Debra. I had a problem with the furniture I bought from them and was yelled at by Tom. He accused me of lying and misusing my furniture.
I’ve never let anyone speak to me in such a manner. If this Tom was in front of me, I would’ve punched him in the face.
If you get a decent piece of furniture, then i’m sure it’s fine, but if there is an issue, you’ll be subjected to accusations and mistreatment from Tom.
Run away from this store and never look back!

DO NOT SHOP HERE!
We were looking for a sofa and saw a nice one here with a good price tag. It was built solid, comfortable to sit on, and Michael, who helped us, seemed genuine and helpful. He repeatedly told us that all of their furniture comes with lifetime warranty. With that in mind, we purchased the sofa.
The sofa was delivered in less than two weeks. Upon first look, husband said to me, «this sofa doesn’t look like the one we saw at the store.» I thought it was probably fine, if anything was wrong, we had the lifetime warranty. We noticed that the back of the sofa was not as cushioned, and thus hurt our backs. From the side, there were wooden pieces hanging off the bottom of the sofa, which we did not remember seeing at the store. And worst of all, whenever we sat down, the back of the sofa creaked.
We’ve had a busy summer at our jobs and finally made time to stop by the store a couple months later. We checked out the floor model of the same sofa, and it was indeed fluffier and sturdier than ours. We told Michael of this situation and he said, «no problem, we’ll send someone to take a look and to repair it.» Satisfied, we set up a time and left the store.
Husband took time off work to stay home so he could meet with the sofa repairman. He did not show up. Michael apologized and promised to send someone another day.
A couple days later, a guy named «TOM» called my husband and accused him of «overusing» the couch. Excuse me, how does a couch get OVERUSED? We sit on it for 2 hours a day to watch TV. How else does a couch get used? TOM practically yelled at my husband that it was OUR fault that we bought the cheapest sofa in his store and overused it!
I don’t know why TOM had to call us and piss us off because a guy from the factory actually showed up a few days later, off-​business hour, to pick up our couch. He was extremely nice and he repaired our couch to what it should have been like from the beginning. Contemporary Lifestyles is a middleman. The factory actually does make nice furniture, but you gotta buy it from other places if you want any customer service.
TLDR: Contemporary Lifestyles gets good merchandise from a good manufacturer. If you have no problems with your furniture, they’re an OK distributor. But if you have quality problems, be prepared to be yelled at and accused of being a liar.
