El Prado is a cute park in the center of Old Town Torrance. I work in Torrance and to get out at lunch I bring my lunch here, roll the windows down and escape from the working day for 20 minutes or so. The homes are gorgeous… Spanish architecture is my favorite! There’s parallel parking alongside the park, which makes it a great spot to eat your lunch in the car. My favorite is going to the farmers market Tuesday, grabbing some fish tacos from Cancun Seafood and eating them at this park. Ah bliss, then back to work… thankfully I love my job. Blessed to be working and doing what I do. Thank you, God!!!

I was told at the Torrance Historical Society Museum that El Prado Park is the former town center of Old Torrance, and for that reason is a landmark park. It is a greenbelt, a parkway with shade trees and benches, that runs for a few long blocks along El Prado Ave., between the Old Torrance business district & Torrance High School. The vintage homes on either side of the park are very desirable due to their location. Big eucalyptus trees add to the charm of the neighborhood. The Old Torrance residential area is, thankfully, so far relatively untouched by developers who would tear down the small historic homes. I hope it stays that way for a long time to come because it feels like another era, a remembrance of a simpler time, when life seemed easier and more tranquil. 11 photos are posted.
