business is now gone… i guess the food gods spoke! There is now an Italian Restaurant in its place however, we have no interest in trying it. We already have our favorites.

Closed unexpectedly, so sad.
Changed hands many times but was always mexican. Not it’ll be italian when there’s an italian place 4 doors down…

Calling all vegans in this area! Come and enjoy the vegan options including cupcakes scones muffins and Mexican sweetbread!
Also great for non vegans.
Living in the South Bay is a bit limited on vegan restaurants and it’s a great addition to the neighbourhood!

My sister and I came to eat here today 03÷26÷15. I was really exited for her to try their food since she’s never been here before. To my surprise as we sat down I noticed the menu changed… A LOTTTT!!! I didn’t noticed until my sister asked if they were an Italian restaurant or Mexican restaurant! Point is they have sold their business and will NO LONGER BE A MEXICAN/​VEGAN restaurant. HABANERO is closing their doors… And be re-​opened as an ITALIAN Restaurant! It’s just sad! I will not come here since I am vegan. I guess I’ll just have to drive to Grasias Madre in Wedt Hollywood! :-/

I am very sorry to say it, but I don’t know if this restaurant has much hope to survive. We were in there on a Friday night, during Lent, and we were the only ones there. They had half of their vegan options crossed off. Regardless, what we did have was very good, with very nice friendly service. Their credit scanner was down, too. We didn’t find that out until the end of the meal. The server said it was his first day at work.
I can think of so many ways for them to increase their business! They have a very cute place, clean, with funky decorations, and the food they serve is very high-​quality. But they need to get on the radar with the coming trend of more people choosing vegan options, and maybe do vegan champagne brunches or something. Host meet ups. Do something. Not just stuff crossed off that they no longer serve. That looks tacky.

The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The food is filling and tasty. The restaurant is simple and clean. The menu is varied.
When I entered the restaurant the hostess greeted us with a smile then escorted us to our table.
I have many allergies and I am unfamiliar with Mexican food. The wait staff was patient and thorough in answering my questions. They also were willing to tailor my order to suit my needs.
The serving size is large. I ended up taking half of the food home and it was reasonably priced.
I felt like I was in an authentic Mexican restaurant. It was clean and enjoyable modern Latin music played.
I will be sure to return!

The name alone got our attention! We love spicy H-​O-​T foods!
Hubby had seen reviews and wanted to try it out. I had it bookmarked, so it is now checked off.
This place has Mexican décor like Pinatas hanging overhead and the paintings on the walls. Almost each booth has a window painted with a part of the roofing coming out of the wall… making you feel as though you are eating outside.
This really is a little hole in the wall place. Jake was there alone when we arrived. He was very helpful, talkative, and upbeat. He readily chatted about himself, the restaurant, and what he’d like to do in the future. He’s really laid back even though he had things he had to do to get things ready for the day ahead.
We were the only ones in the restaurant at 11:00 AM. He said he was going to bring out chips, and that he wanted to cook them fresh for us. We asked if he had any habaneros and he said he’d bring out an habanero salsa when he brought out the chips. Sure enough, the hot chips came out along with 2 salsas. The one we gobbled up was the habanero salsa, it had a nice heat to it and the flavor was delicious!
They make their own foods and salsas. At the bottom of the menu it says they use NO Lard, NO MSG, and NO Cans. So, it’s got to be fresh & healthier!
We ordered tacos, 1 chorizo, 2 carne asada, 2 carnitas, and 2 al pastor. Hubby liked his chorizo taco. I liked the other 3 types, but hubby thought the al pastor had a different flavor to it. These tacos are made using 1 corn tortilla, not doubled up like you see everywhere else. We asked for a refill on that habanero salsa, it was such a great addition for the tacos! It was like the icing on the cake, so to speak!
We hope this restaurant stays busy or becomes even busier! Their food is good!

Good service. Great food. I recommend the soy chorizo option. I ordered two tacos with soy chorizo and it was flavorful. This is the first Mexican place I know that serves vegan and vegetarian as an option. Not too spicy given the name. And one dollar taco Tuesdays.

Such a great place!
First off, the service is great. Erik was super nice when he came to take our orders and recommended the tacos, which were delicious by the way; spicy but delicious.
Very family oriented so it’s good for groups.
The bathrooms were clean which is definitely a good thing.
I gotta say I enjoyed my dinner at Habaneros Peppers. I definitely recommend this place to anyone.

LOVE this place! Great food, healthy food and most importantly, a really cool, friendly staff!
Since I’m very interested in health and nutrition, I asked a lot of questions and the owner even took me into the back and showed me the kitchen, how they cook, etc. Place is really clean too, which is always great!

This place gave me diarrhea! ! ‘Nuff said.
The vegan nachos was way too salty. N so were the tacos! Sodium overload.. !

I’m a vegan and it’s REALLY hard to find a good vegan spot in the South Bay. Sad to say but true! This place is fantastic. I stumbled upon this place by accident (a co-​worker took me there).
I had the beef-​less burrito. It was delicious! Just perfectly made. The server was the owners son who was really passionate about his mothers cooking and knew each item really well. It’s super cute inside, cheap prices and most importantly– GOOD FOOD. will be going back for sure! Yum! Cheers!

Just like the previous cilantro restaurant only now with an extensive vegan menu.
Came here for a taco Tuesday. Cheaper buck fifty tacos. Tacos are street sized, so a little small, but not bad. Taco Tuesday special excludes asada. We tried everything anyways.
The tacos we liked the best were the carnitas. Moist and flavorful! We ordered a bunch of those.
Al pastor Was decent.
Chorizo was decent.
Everything else didn’t really stand out much.
We’ll be checking out other spots in the area for taco Tuesday’s. This was just okay for the tacos. The salsa they served was just okay too. Somewhat strong tomato flavor however it was orange. Slight kick, just not that flavorful or memorable.
Will we come back? Possibly.

I know where they keep their menus. How do I know this? As we were walking in, a voice called out from across the dining room telling us to pick up menus and to seat anywhere we want. Hmmm… silly me, I thought this was supposed to be a full serve restaurant. No biggie.
The two you young partners running Habanero’s Pepper is still getting their act together after being opened just 3 months. Apparently, they decided to give the restaurant business a try after taking over the place from one of their moms.
So, what would you recommend your albondigas soup or your tortilla soup? we asked. We don’t serve albondigas soup anymore and we may not have enough tortilla soup to fill an order. This is noontime. Ok… what would you recommend? Well, we found out other items on the menu that were also no longer offered: cabeza and lengua. We decided on the Aguachile de Camaron and Menudo. Both came in modest size portions. Never having had Aguachile de Camaron, we depended on the description on the menu to guide us. It would have probably been nice to let their patrons know that the shrimps came raw. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he said the lime juice and chilies «cooks» the shrimp. Not sure what his definition of «cook «is, it is definitely different that the one I am used to. Ok, not big deal, I like raw (lime «cooked») shrimps. The menudo came light not only in total volume but were also sparsely filled with tripe and a lack seasoning. Tortillas were not served until we asked… twice. The highlight of the meal was Habanero’s Pepper’s salsa, which is tomatillo based salsa with a great tang and midrange spiciness.
Next time? I am sure they will get their act together. I am looking forward to adding another star to their review next time.

Caution: Don’t walk in to this restaurant expecting a good ambiance like a fine dining restaurant. It is a simple mom & pop restaurant. It is pricey for the ambiance. However this is a Vegas/​Vegetarians paradise.
You start with crunchy, fresh serving of Chips and Salsa. Salsa was average and not spicy. I had the soy chorizo vegan enchiladas. The chorizo was perfectly cooked with the right spice and garlic. Definitely recommend this. The crispy Taquitos or Pambaso is something you might want to try.
I ended my meal with Sweet Mexican Bread (called Conchas). I found it average, it was my first attempt and may be was expecting something out of the world but it was a simple bread with sugar coating. Will give this dish a 2^nd attempt.

This upset me a lot. I had to wait 1.5 hours until 6, so I decided to leave. U just lost over 100 $, my group and I were excited to eat here.

I was VERY impressed by the friendliness of staff at this place. I never thought I would ever be able to eat regular sweet bread again since it’s not vegan but this place changed that! I’m so happy now lol! They have a huge vegan menu that is more than Mexican food but also some Indian and American cuisine as well. I cannot wait to come back mostly because this is family operated AND the two guys running the place were so courteous and welcoming. I will definitely be supporting this place! :)

The CHIPS AND SALSA are awesome. The chips are thick, crunchy, and delicious. The salsa is a saucy consistency, with a beautiful balance of flavors (it wasn’t too spicy, which let the natural subtle sweetness of the tomato shine through).
The first basket of chips is free, and then it’s $ 1.50 for refills (which at first seemed like kind of a bummer, but it made me really savor the chips and prevented me from gorging before my meal came).
I was having a bit of trouble making up my mind ordering, and our server was patient and helpful.
I ended up getting a TORTA-​like item from the vegan menu (so bummed I can’t remember what it was actually called… whoops) that came with a light salad. The bread was brushed and grilled with a chipotle sauce, and was stuffed with tender slices of potato, some TVP, a blend of vegan cheeses (not Daiya), and generous portions of vegan sour cream and a chipotle mayo — 10/​10, would recommend. Plus it was hefty enough that I had leftovers. I love leftovers. I love that sandwich.
My omnivorous boyfriend got a giant burrito that he was really pleased and stuffed with. We both really enjoyed our meals. We split the cost of two entrees (his burrito, my sandwich), one vegan horchata and sweet mexican bread croissant thing for $ 13 each. $ 26 for two falls into what I am comfortable paying for a meal out and on par with what we pay at most vegan/​vegan-​friendly places around LA, which is definitely a slight indulgence that is worth it.
You can tell and taste that a lot of care was put into putting this menu together.
Dude, they even have a VEGAN HORCHATA (both the vegan and regular horchata are made in house)… what a treat! And VEGAN MEXICAN SWEET BREAD and desserts! Maybe some day they’ll add a vegan flan (I can only dream). But until then, the sweet bread stuff rules.
It’s awesome to have an authentic Mexican food place that accomodates omnivores, vegans, vegetarians and gluten-​free folks without compromise (as opposed to Mexican places where I end up ordering something like a veggie burrito with no cheese, no sour cream after skeptically asking if the rice is made with chicken stock and if the beans have lard, or vegan places that throw faux-​thentic Mexican inspired items on the menu).
I’m looking forward to coming back with my family — it can be difficult to find a place we [spanning veg*ns, pescatarians, and stubborn meat-​lovers] are all happy eating.

As a vegan and lover of Mexican food, this place is AMAZING.
There is always a struggle of where to go with non vegan fiends and family and finally I have found the perfect place that can satisfy both meat eaters and vegans alike.
I have been here over a dozen times and always find myself ordering the vegan taquitos and the nachos. They are amazing and I always find myself craving them! The soyrizo tacos are pretty great too!
The best part about this place is that the food tastes so authentic. It is so hard to find authentic Mexican food that happens to be vegan.
The only thing I don’t recommend is the vegan chicken. It was very rubbery and bland and I couldn’t bring myself to eat it.
Other than that, this place is awesome and I would recommend it to any vegan and non vegan.
