History

Established in 1995.

Lima Taekwondo & Martial Arts Academy was founded in middle 90s by Grandmaster Andre Lima and today it’s commanded by its (CEO) Master Christianny Lima.

LIMA TKD has two locations in California and both are equally situated in first-​class spots providing their members with easy access and high-​quality environment. The Culver City location is a 3.500 sq/​f facility across the street from the Westfield Mall. The premises are surrounded by three parking lots. The Torrance location is a stunning 6.000 s/​f facility near various restaurants and stores. LIMA TKD has a very professional staff of instructors; including some National Champions and former students from the Academy.

This is for the Tsunami BJJ team that meets here. I start training with Professor John Ouano and Perry Hauck last month. IT was the best choice I done and my game picked up a lot. I learned many things I didn’t know about and they are very detailed on what they teach. They are also always observing you, so you would have the technique down.
Another thing, why I like training with these two professors; they treat you like a friend more than a student. Everyone is very casual, friendly and welcoming here. Highly recommend anyone in the South Bay area to study jiu jitsu from these great coaches.

My family has been attending Lima Taekwondo for over 3 years now and have have nothing but good things to say. We have improved our flexibility, conditioning, and self defense skills with Taekwondo. The Lima’s are great instructors as are Master Henry, Miss Natalie, Master Cruz, and Mr. Joe. It is great having different instructors each class because you learn different things from each of them and it helps keep you on your toes. We are close to getting our Black Belts and hope to achieve that goal with the hard work and dedication Lima Taekwondo instills in all of their students. I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested in getting into martial arts.

I’m a mom of two students in TKD. I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed at Lima TKD. The owners conduct business with the utmost professionalism, the classes are fantastic, staff is helpful and knowledgeable, the students and families are the best! No pressure to compete here, but if you are up for the task, they will take you as far as you are willing. I have seen many a student come to us from different schools and remark on the awesomeness of the family atmosphere.
Lima Taekwondo is perfect for beginners, adults, and competitors. Belt testing is based on skill, NOT how much parents have paid for lessons. Emphasis on hard work and sportsmanship. Why train anywhere else?

I’ve only taken classes at the Culver City location but I’ve watched my niece and nephews practice at the Torrance location and have also attended belt tests here (as a viewer). The facility is spacious and clean, with lots of locker space. There is also a gym where parents can work out while their kids are in class. Parking is more readily available compared to the Culver City location.
The instructors are the same people I studied with in Culver City. I find that the instructors and owners approachable, friendly, and most importantly, knowledgeable about their stuff!

Lima Taekwondo has taken a very shy 7 year old girl and turned her into a girl who has the drive and commitment to become a National Champion! My daughter has been encouraged and motivated to become the National Champion she is today! The instructors and owners are committed to each student to have them reach their full potential. There is no discrimination based on what color your belt is, and want all students (no matter your skill level) to succeed! I would (and have) recommend Lima Taekwondo to anyone who wants to take martial art classes !!! And it has a GREAT family atmosphere!

As a mid belt parent myself, I would rate this studio OK, but only that. Half the instructors really care about individual participants, the other half are senseless and intimidating with people skills needing development. There is mindless repetitiveness without correction. (200 kicks to a bag without correcting a basic flaw while the instructor watches the clock is counterproductive… yes it helps your condition, but it ingrains incorrect technique). A lot of students seem to enjoy the instruction, because a couple of the 3rd degree black belt instructors are very good with kids. The lady owner is also good with kids. Neighborhood location is not great. Restroom facilities inadequate. Spectator seating uncomfortable. It’s not that they don’t know their stuff (7th and 8th degree owners) they do. I guess it’s more overall the how than the what.

I do Brazilian jiujitsu here. The training is amazing, with legendary world class instruction. Everyone has a great positive attitude and are very respectful. Its an awesome work out and incredibly fun!
