History
Established in 1976.
The Pregnancy Help Center started as a crisis hotline for pregnancy-related issues in 1971 and was staffed solely by volunteers. In April 1976, the Pregnancy Counseling Center opened its doors as a resource for women facing a crisis pregnancy for free pregnancy testing and counseling. In June 1981, we became licensed by the State of California as a medical clinic and changed our name to Pregnancy Help Center and Helpline. In 1997, the Center added the services of an OB/GYN for free prenatal consultations. 2008 – started free breastfeeding education classes and STD testing and treatment (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV testing; treatment for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea). In fall, 2013, we’ll be offering our newest free service to our clients: limited obstetric ultrasound to verify a viable pregnancy.
