Extremely professional staff in the E. R! Every Nurse, Dr, and Patient Care Tech show empathy in this E.R. I liked the fact they work as a Team like they should. When I was being treated at the hospital every person that approached me was professional, caring and concerned with how I was feeling. The hospital offers complimentary animal crackers, plain lays chips, fruit roll-​ups and grape juice while you and your loved ones wait in he Emmergency room lobby. There’s also FREE valet parking until 8p. Wow I don’t know of any other hospital like it. I also delivered my son at Lil Company of Mary Torrance. Labor and delivery staff are Wonderful also. This is Definitely my #1 Choice hospital for all of my family’s needs.

Please read Dr. Jamie Lipeles OBGYN, he is the head OB at Little Company and if you are planning on delivering here there a few things you should know. The man will treat you differently if you are on Medical or a low grade insurance, read my review I implore you.

The care here is awesome very attentive staff, very clean and well run. Chairs in the waiting room not very comfortable but I’m sure that’s on purpose :) so you don’t get too comfy.
Big room for delivery come with personal fridge and safe for your using.
Parking can get hectic during the day but they do have free valet for that if you can’t find a spot.
Lot of food in the area if you find yourself waiting and don’t want to visit the cafeteria, which by the way has good food also. I’ve been here at least 5 times in the last few months and would recommend Providence Little Company of Mary to all.

ER — charged co-​pay of $ 100 without seeing Dr. after 2.5 hrs wait!
As a longtime Southbay resident I was shocked — I’ll never go there again.
Explained my dissatisfaction to nurse when I received a follow up call and ask for an executive to call me back — didn’t receive a call back.
I would call it hospital sponsored fraud supported by the executive team. Troubling for a community hospital.
They only care about the co-​pay — not the patient.

Worst service in the er… ridiculous wait times to not even be seen… wasn’t busy and staff acted like they were on fucking vacation taking their go damn time. It’s an emergency room for a reason people need to be seen. If I could give 0 stars I would

My Obstetrician specifically delivers at Little Company of Mary so I didn’t have much options in which hospital I wanted to deliver my daughter but I’m so happy that I went with this hospital. The nurses at Labor and Delivery were all amazing! I had a long induction that failed (96 hours) so I ended up doing a CSection. I received the best of care and the nurses all had amazing bed side manners. There were a few nurses who had been assigned to me before that still had popped in my room when they weren’t assigned to me just to say hi and to meet my little one. The lactation specialists also checked in on me on a daily basis to ensure that my goals to exclusively breastfeed was met from start to finish. Although I was feeling homesick and wanted to finally be at home with my newborn daughter, I was actually sad to be discharged because I knew I wouldn’t get this much care at home as I did at Little Company of Mary.

We came here because my sister was assigned this hospital to give birth. The nurses were very nice at least from what we saw. They were attentive to sissy and were emaphathic. It was clean and well kept.

I was having a cramp in my stomach and so thought of visiting this hospital. Not sure I was really treated for the problem that I had, but was definitely gone through all the un-​necessary tests. I kept on telling about my problem but they had just one intention how to get me admitted for a day or two. I had undergone all the pain in this hospital. None of the doctors and nurse were cooperative and willing to help.
I was forcefully admitted for two days with no improvement but un-​necessary test scaring me about my gal-​bladder and lever had a problem which I never had. I was even asked to get operated :(. I almost wanted to run away of this hospital. Next day I was discharged with same severity of pain in my stomach.
I wish to report as medical abuse to anyone and everyone and would advice not to visit this hospital ever through emergency seeking medical attention.

Then i visited other doctor she said that was only because of acid in my stomach. But this hospital done number of blood drawn like 5 – 6 time for all type of test, CT scan, MRI, heart test, ultrasound, kidney, lungs .
When they didnt find anything they are like i have oxygen problem or problmes with lungs.
How come they tested all my organ just for stomach pain .
Given 5 – 6 pain injection and 5 – 6 nausea injection in one day which effects my body in reverse way make my situation worst and causes mental anxiety .
Its just like torture better i should have bear my pain rather than going this hospital.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.
Went to the ER because I was constantly experiencing abnormal pain and bleeding. I have a complicated medical history, so it was standard protocol to look into that while there. They believed the pain and bleeding might be related to a surgery I had as a child, which seemed believable… but I was later told at USC that it is not possible to have complications (in this case, at least) from a surgery I had 25 years ago.
One of the doctors I saw had to be one of the most ridiculous ones I have ever come across. I told her I had this one crazy surgery 25 years ago at CHOC Hospital, but she acted like I did not know what I was talking about. She claims there was/​is nobody there who would have been able to carry out such a complicated procedure. I was like well, it was done… the surgery has been documented on paper somewhere, so there’s that. But it seemed to be such a big deal to her for some reason. I mean, the procedure has already been done, so what’s the problem? The hospital might have just flown some specialist from elsewhere in the country to OC to do the surgery, no? I’m sure that was not unheard of in 1991.
Then she proceeds to tell me that… if I needed a particular procedure done. if this problem is what she thinks it is, there is «nobody in California» to do the surgery. And that I’d have to go to Cleveland because she knows of a surgeon there who could do the work. She looked at me all crazy while telling me all this.
First of all, I’m not going to Cleveland or out of state for anything unless I had some absolutely rare cancer or other illness where there truly is nobody in CA to take care of me. And this was 2015 — I’m sure my situation was possible to deal with, even if I had to go up to Northern CA instead for treatment.
This lady seemed rather obsessed with the whole Cleveland thing, even during my next day at the hospital so I stopped taking her seriously rather quickly. I had to stay overnight at the hospital, which was pretty much a waste of my time since nobody knew what was going on whatsoever. They were going to operate on me without knowing for sure what was going on, which is rather scary.
What is even more scary is… whatever procedure they planned to do, it ended up being something I did NOT need at all. My final diagnosis (which came from USC) ended up being something totally different from what Providence originally thought. Maybe they would have seen that I had an infected cyst after all, but I do find it strange that USC saw right away it was a cyst without opening me up… while Torrance needed to cut me open to see what’s going on.
Never going to that ER ever again. Making sure I take better care of myself and everything to avoid going there. It is just a disaster. And it seems to be even worse if you have a complicated medical history.

My mom hasn’t been feeling well and usually for any immediate medical problems we go to Torrance Memorial. Our primary doctor told us to head to Providence Little Company of Mary because the wait would probably be shorter and the care would be better. He was absolutely right! We checked into the desk and after 45 minutes my mom was called in to have an ekg, chest X-​ray, & lab work done. We were heading back out to the waiting room and they called us back in to place her in an exam room. Dr. Chavez was knowledgeable, impeccable bedside manner, funny, and compassionate. My mom liked him so much she asked if he had a private practice! Our nurse Jess was super nice too. She was nice, helpful, & efficient. She also had wonderful bedside manner!
This was my first experience here in their ER and I was very impressed. Keep up the exceptional work Providence Healthcare workers!

I had my very first surgery yesterday. Not too major, but my first all the same. I wasn’t too nervous, my Wife is in and out of the hospital regularly, so I’m not that uncomfortable in there. This review is for the SDS Department (same day surgery). From the receptionist, check in all the way to recovery, everyone was extremely caring, friendly, and treated me like an old friend. Deborah in check in shared her vertigo story with me. Jennifer, my Nurse (and my new favorite Nurse ever) was super cool, efficient, and also shared stories with me and made me feel more comfortable. You are great at your job Jennifer!
Surgery staff was very cool, but I don’t remember any names, just that they had me laughing until I fell asleep.
Recovery was quick from my perspective anyway. I woke up, was immediately attended to. Given a drink of choice and some food. Was dressed and out the door in less than 15 minutes. Again, don’t remember the name, but she was awesome!
So overall, the staff was key to this 5 star review. My wait time in pre op was too long, but pretty much, the Doctor controls that and it has nothing to do with the hospital. My Doctor was on 3 or 4 surgeries that day, and I don’t care how long I had to wait, because it means he was taking his time and giving as much time to each case that was needed. So far, my surgery is a smashing success, time will tell.

Had the unfortunate opportunity to visit this hospital over the last week. Staff is very friendly, keeps you informed, and very understanding. Have had the pleasure of working with Yani as my family’s nurse in ICU, she is AMAZING, and really cares. Think I seen her eyes water up a few times.
The only thing I would change is their so called check-​in process. There is no sign as you walk to tell you to go to the desk to check-​in. Over the weekend the security guard doubles as the check-​in reception, and attempts to try and direct every guess that walks through the door to check-​in.
Check-​in process consists of you going to the reception desk giving the patient name and getting a badge. What’s the point? At times there are large groups coming in to see their love ones with only one reception to look up the patient name and pass out the badge. Either reevaluate the check in process or do away with the tedious extra steps.

Wow is all I must say got treated for a DVT my insurance paid them over 75 percent close to 8k. They send me a bill for 190.
I’m not working due to surgery and barely managing to get by. From surgery and all the medical bills I’m barely afloat.
Sent out payment for the full amount last week March 7 – 12. Get a notice in mail saying they are sending me to collections if not paid for in full. Keep in mind this is just my second notice I. Which I was sending 40 – 50 each month
No wonder why people rather get worse than go to a hospital

My grandmother was admitted here last night and so far, I am really liking this hospital.
The nurses have been very attentive, kind and gentle when working with my grandmother. They aren’t constantly waking her up every time she falls asleep (which I understand is very necessary at times) but they are really respectful when trying to wake her up. I slept in her room last night in a chair that pulls out into a twin bed. The nurse brought me fitted sheets, blankets and pillows to make me more comfortable.
Through out the night while checking on my grandmother, they don’t come in and turn on all the lights either, they may turn on a corner light but they’re very quiet and respectful of the space.
I went down to the cafeteria and they had a pretty decent selection of foods. Mind you, they also have an in room «Cuisine Request» room service type deal too! I love it! Haven’t tried that part yet but don’t speak too soon lol.

Do not go to the ER! 7 hours wait to be seen by MD and! NURSES have bad attitude! They do ancillary services then 3 hours later they have you sign the consent! And never ask any questions to the nurses! They will snap at you or always outside. Smoking! Department of Health and TJC will have a feast «dinging» this place during an unannounced Survey!

Needed to get some blood work and a chest X-​Ray before having surgery. Since this hospital was just up the road from my orthopedic it was very convenient.
I learned from my last visit that the outpatient is in the back of the hospital so I parked in the back. Checked in and within about fifteen minutes I was in the blood drawing station room. The X-​Ray technician came in so I asked to get the easier part of the test out of the way. She was great, I was done within about ten minutes even though I was hoping it would’ve took longer so I could delay the blood work.
Jeff was very patient with me since I’m a big baby when it comes to drawing blood. He let me get comfortable and brought me water. While looking at a photo of my BAE (a very strong and inspirational woman) on my phone he drew the blood. He was very fast and I barely felt the needle. I would have to say this was one of the best blood drawing experiences.

I have to update this one and give the ER a 5 star review. For the simple reason that they saved my life three weeks ago.
I was rushed in via ambulance with a collapsed lung and my body went into hypertensive crisis while we were waiting for the surgeon to come in. The doctor there at the time, Dr. Vornace, ended up having to quickly put my chest tube in surgically (while I was awake which sucked pretty bad by the way) and my lung re-​inflated and I was able to breathe again.
Also, the nicest blonde nurse ever named Jackie with an accent held my hand and comforted me the entire time as if I were one of her kids. I was terrified and alone for all of that and she definitely went above and beyond her duties to make sure I was OK. I love her.
So, as difficult as it is to write a five star Unilocal review about my experience in a place where I almost died, the bottom line is that I’m still here to write it. And that in itself deserves the most credit!
I DID however tell them all I was going to give them Unilocal reviews as they were treating me… and though they laughed on the outside, on the inside I probably scared them all into giving me the five star treatment I got. So yeah haha

If you judge this place based on the ER alone, you’re not getting the whole picture. Having seen the ER before, I was apprehensive when I finally had to make use of it. It’s old, worn, crowded, and loud – simply too many sick people waiting in a small space (note to donors – expansion desperately needed!).
However, once past the waiting room (my condition allowed me to be admitted quickly), I found a high degree of competence and professionalism. Yes, the triage area is chaos – far too small for the amount of traffic, and they line the halls with people on gurneys. However, they did a great job in there.
In addition, my tests (MRI, sonogram, blood work, CAT scan) were all handled quickly and efficiently. I was admitted overnight for observation, and while it took a couple of hours to find a room, I was monitored and looked in on frequently.
Granted, my (new) positive outlook for the place probably had something to do with the negative results of my tests, a smart diagnosis, and the fact that I left the hospital in good health. But I will say everyone – the doctors, nurses, technicians and administrators – were great to work, capable and kind.

There was a drunk in the ER constantly threatening to beat the crap out of my autistic son, James. I was told to ignore the verbal abuse and that this drunk was a «frequent flyer», in the ER almost every day. The drunk seemed to think the ER was his private «day spa» and is being encouraged by Little Company to behave badly, to abuse the ER and the other patients. I don’t think it was «OK» for an autistic person to hear verbal abuse threatening to physically harm them. My son was threatened with violence the duration of his ER visit.
My autistic son had painful crystals in his urine and was offered morphine, which might have caused a reaction. I wanted him to have something safer such as Pyridium, which I was able to get for him a day later via his primary care.
It was not made clear to me if the X-​ray taken in the ER was a chest X-​ray only or if it also ruled out bowel pain/​bowel blockage as well. When I asked a nurse, he said the X-​Ray ruled out that it could be a twisted bowel or bowel blockage. That information was never confirmed.
(It has been confirmed that the X-​ray did not include the bowels and that the ER nurse was just saying it did to dismiss the bowel pain and not have to deal with it).
On THREE occasions during the ER stay I gave business cards of my son’s UCLA primary care, urologist at UCLA and bowel doctor. I faxed what results were given to me to these doctors but I am concerned the other test results were not sent to the doctors because my son’s discharge papers indicated that he had no primary care doctor.
Also, a nurse took it as a personal challenge to her ego when I told her blood is always drawn from James’ hand because the arm HURTS and BRUISES. She had to prove something and what she proved was she could bruise and torment James in the arm before switching to the hand to draw blood. I took a photo of the bruise.
