History

Established in 1983.

Dr. Roger L. Gillespie has been practicing dentistry in his modern, state of the art office in Torrance, California since 2000. He has been in private practice in the South Bay since he graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1983. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1977, graduating with the honor of Great Distinction from CSUDH.

After graduating from UCLA, Dr. Gillespie started his own private practice. He also spent one day a week working at the Newport Beach Children’s Dental Center (for 6 years) which serves under privileged children. He has been a practicing dentist in the South Bay for 30 years. He enjoys doing cosmetic, restorative, preventive and implant dentistry. He is especially adept at using the Biolase Waterlase hard tissue laser which can perform many dental procedures without the use of dental anesthesia. Dr. Gillespie was one of the first dentists to employ this technology in 2000 and feels that this has been a breakthrough in comfortable patient care as well as achieving high quality results.

Always receive excellent service here. It is unlikely you would find a better dentist than Dr Gillespie. He does excellent work and my family and I have total confidence in him. All staff are helpful and professional and Xena the dental hygienist has a warm manner and does a great job.

End of year and just had my annual cleaning and some cosmetic work done. Dr. G is very particular and detailed, which I LOVE in my dentist. I’ve been going to his office for many years and have recommended co-​workers and friends, everyone is a fan! Dr. G has exceptional skills and has state of the art equipment. I have been going to Dr. Gillespie since I first moved to the South Bay about 8 years ago. He was highly recommended by a co-​worker.
The quality that stands out most about Dr. Gillespie is his attention to detail. His dental office is the only one I’ve been to that regularly checks the depth of the gum pockets around every tooth. He will also evaluate the quality of (and in some cases, fix) your prior dental work. He always discusses both the pros and cons of any procedure with you before you decide on doing it – for example, I have an impacted wisdom tooth that every other dentist has recommended removing, but Dr. Gillespie advises me that it would not be worth the risk in potential nerve damage.
His staff is very friendly and professional. Suzie, the receptionist, is good about calling to remind you about appointments a few days in advance. Usually Kris does my teeth cleaning, and she is very nice and very thorough.
Dr. Gillespie is also a UCLA alum for any of you fellow Bruins out there.

I have been seeing Dr. Gillespie for more than ten years, and have recommended his office to many coworkers. Everyone always comes back with rave reviews. Here’s why I like his office:
1. Clean
2. Meticulous work
3. Great dental hygienist (we see Zena, Love her, she’s so gentle and kind!)
4. No pain.
5. Everyone actually cares– that makes a huge difference. They always call to confirm the appointment ‘live’. I know the names of the people who work in the office and they recognize me and my husband when we come in.
Before I went to Dr. Gillespie, I felt like my dentist office treated the patients like cattle, and the condition of my teeth reflected it. Years later, my teeth and gums are actually in better shape from the care that I receive.
I highly recommend Dr. Gillespie and his team.

Dr. Gillespie’s ofice is amazing! After not having been to the dentist for over 10 years, I was both incredibly nervous and not sure what to expect as far as the dental work I’d need. Dr. Gillespie has some of the most advanced technology available, including drill-​less fillings, an oral camera, and low radiation digital x-​rays. And, Dr. Gillespie’s aim is to get your mouth healthy, NOT get all the money he can out of you! Accompanied by his kind and knowledgeable staff, you can’t beat this dental experience!

Dr. Roger Gillespie has been our family dentist for 7 – 8 yrs now and we are blessed to have found him. When I first met him, I thought he was a little serious. As I got to know him, I find him to be very easy to talk to, funny and even silly especially around my kids. My kids LOVE going to Dr. G. I have been to a few dentist and he is definitely a perfectionist. He is always focused on making sure everything is perfect. I agree that he can be impatient sometimes with his staff, but I’ve never seen him rude. I took my mom to him a few years ago with the intention of getting 4 veneers because she has a chipped tooth with an old composite filling. Instead, he advised her to just redo her old filling to a lighter color to match her other teeth. He told her her front teeth looked really good and are in great condition so she should keep it as long as possible. He said she could always do it later if the filling came off again. My mom was amazed with how honest he was. Also, he made every effort to make her comfortable. As of now, her filling is still intact. Whenever anyone needs great, honest dental work done with peace of mind, I completely recommend Dr. G. Two thumbs up from me and my family!

I have been Dr. Gillespie’s for some time, my experience with him has greatly changed over those years. His dentistry is good however it takes forever in the chair. He treats his staff with no respect and I feel embarrassed for them. I witnessed him with another patient and was so disappointed in the way he treated this older man. He seems to have become interested more in making money than in his patient care I I can’t say that I would recommend him or if I will even return to him myself. It’s sad to see a professional man change so much!
