Nicholas Montalto, Mark Swatik E.

Business Owner

In 1991, Nicholas Montalto graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Accounting. He went on to work as an auditor and tax expert with the Certified Public Accounting firm of Mazars & Co. in New York City.

Mr. Montalto later received his JD from Whittier Law School where he was a scholarship recipient. Inspired by his grandfather, a prominent New York City Judge, Nicholas started the firm in 1995, and like his father before him, has excelled at an attorney.

Mark Swatik is a retired Police Sergeant (20 years), and a partner with the firm. Mark was selected as the honored recipient of the 10th Annual National Law Enforcement Law School Scholarship, where he was chosen after a comprehensive review of numerous applications submitted by law enforcement personnel from throughout the United States. Mark also earned an MBA (Summa Cum Laude) and uses his extensive business background to assist clients. Mark is also an adjunct graduate school professor.

It was about time to create a living trust, so my wife and I tried finding an attorney based on referrals. The three attorneys we saw were not what we were looking for, as one was not detail oriented, and the other two were dismissive and acted as if our trust was just another thing to finish and get off their desk. After these failed attempts, we looked online for help. Unilocal led us to Nick Montalto and Mark Swatik. Boy am I glad we used Unilocal!My wife and I were setting up our first trust, and couldn’t have found a better attorney than Nick. Our first meeting, we had so many questions and Nick went through the entire process in so much detail, that he spent over 4 hours with us on our initial consultation. He was so patient and taught us all we wanted to know about living trusts. After a few visits, and a very reasonable flat rate, we have a comprehensive trust that will ensure our children are well protected in case the worst happens.
Thanks so much to Nick and to Mark (who gave us a consultation on another issue), for their warm and welcoming demeanor, attention to detail, work ethic and patience with us. As a CPA, I frequently have to refer my clients to a trust attorney to handle their will or trust. My trust attorney of choice is Sanders, Montalto & Swatik. I was first introduced to Nick Montalto several years ago by a well respected financial advisor. As he had already been vetted by another financial professional that I trusted, I had a good feeling about him before I even met him. Working with him has only reinforced my initial impression. I know first hand as Nick prepared my trust. The trust was very comprehensive and gave me the peace of mind that I needed to ensure that my assets were protected. Nick was patient and took the time to explain to me various provisions of the trust that I was not familiar with. The required paperwork was filed with the assessor’s office which not all trust attorneys do. I was so pleased with the service that I received that I referred my sister to Nick and he prepared her trust as well. I would not hesitate to refer Nick or Mark to my clients, associates or friends.

I was very satisfied with the time Mark Swatik took to explain the information he was covering. Mark was very open to informing my wife and I of the pros and cons to all areas of our living trust. I have a daughter from a previous relationship and my wife and I have a daughter together. My wife also has MS. Mark was able to protect both daughters equally, as well as protecting my wife’s disability benefits. It was a huge weight taken off my shoulders after Mark established my families living trust.

We were skeptical at first with doing a Family Trust because when my grandfather passed away, we experienced so many issues relating to the incorrect nature of the trust. Mr. Swatik prepared my living trust and did so in an extremely competent and very professional manner. He answered all of my questions and made me feel comfortable in dealing with such a complex set of circumstances. I will be referring my other family members and friends to him, as I learned something that was very important through this process. You only have 2 options; you either get your own affairs in order, according to your interests and wishes, or else the court will do everything for you. If the court does it, you stand to lose a lot of money, which should be going to your own family. I highly recommend Mr. Swatik for your estate planning needs.

Mark was wonderful in explaining everything, and spent several hours providing a detailed explanation and breakdown of estate planning on our first visit – for free! He understands that everyone has different needs and works with you accordingly. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and detail oriented, and helped us put together a complete estate plan far beyond what we considered at an incredibly reasonable price. We both now sleep better knowing we’ve taken care of our children and minimized any disruption to their lives in the case of an unfortunate incident. redo our trust, a friend had recommended him to me, I am so happy we went, The trust was originally done so bad, and I knew it!, after it was originally done the County Assessors Office contacted me saying my property had to be reevaluated, since ownership had changed hands, so scary!!, Mark was so helpful, in helping, us redo it correctly.
