History

Established in 1978.

Founded in 1978 in Culver City, California by CEO Larry Miller, Sit ‘n Sleep has grown leaps and bounds over the last 30-​plus years. Sit’ n Sleep has become a household name because of our iconic radio ads featuring Larry’s accountant, Irwin, who painfully exclaims «You’re killing me, Larry!» whenever Larry lowers his prices. Sit ‘n Sleep has recently gained notoriety as an industry-​leading sleep health advocate and educator on the dangers of household dust mites.

Larry Miller, the founder of Sit ‘n Sleep, opened the first Sit ‘n Sleep location in Culver City exclusively as a futon store– hence the name, however, quickly adapted to the need for a quality mattress superstore with exceptional service.

Known for his catch-​phrase «Sit ‘n Sleep will be any advertised mattress price or your mattress is FREE!» Larry Miller has become an icon in Los Angeles on both radio and television commercials.
