South Bay Community Church

I’m originally from Hawaii and I have been living in the mainland for 11 years going to different church’s not really finding the right one. I’m still a member of New Hope Oahu where Pastor Wayne used to speak every weekend. He was the guest speaker today and it was so nice to see him and listen to his messages which are always heart warming. The worship was amazing. My son and I felt like we were back in Hawaii with the warm greeting from the parking lot to the entrance. We really felt the love in this church.

Everyone really does feel like family here. South Bay Community Church does indeed live up to its name. Whether you are just starting your walk with Christ or if you’ve ran a couple marathons with Him, I think SBCC is the church for you. The services are Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 10am.

April 2014, I was Catholic who made the decision to search for a church that will help me develop my relationship with Christ. I was blown back… this church far exceeded my expectations. God blessed this church from the kind ushers, the small group leaders, to Pastors Gary, Greg, Dave, and James. I encourage you to come for a visit and say «Hi!»

Been going to this church for about 9 years and i absolutely love it! Great pastors with awesome and informative messages that my family and i can relate to. People are very warm and friendly too.

If you are looking for a church where everyone is like family (Ohana) and the love and trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior is strong and evident, then come to SBCC. When I first attended a service, this church was homeless, and it was held at a meeting room at the Holiday Inn. But I have never looked elsewhere because this is a community of believers, pastors who are great leaders & teachers and a church family so loving that you never feel alone.

I researched about 8 churches in the South Bay recommended to me for my wife, two kids and I. After actually checking out all of them, I finally settled with SBCC and I can tell you without regret this church is the best in the South Bay. It has a fantastic leadership team with every facet of the church being well organized and overly accommodating. But what I appreciate most is the family feel atmosphere that connects you into a friendly community that helps me connect with the Lord. My family and I recently became part of a small group that is all young families with the same age kids. It’s what my wife and I have been looking for but never realized how good it could be until coming here. As a father, a husband, and follower, I give SBCC my highest recommendation!

South Bay Community is an exceptional church! The Word of God is preached here uncompromised. The Pastors and staff are above and beyond amazing.
As an Elite 2014 Unilocal member, I have the responsibility to give you the goods and things to-​be-​approved-​upon in my reviews. Not long ago, I left an extremely solid mega-​church that was my home for several years in the OC. Upon my transition to this church which abbreviated is SBCC, my hesitation was that this church lacked a missions program. My former church’s missions program is a well oiled machine that I had been deeply involved in for several years and had been sent out on a few of mission trips with. Why would I move to this one?
The congregation is simply the BEST. The people at SBCC are the most warm, welcoming, caring, and compassionate people. They truly do have the love of Jesus living in them. SBCC is a campus of New Hope Oahu in Honolulu, Hawai’i and the ohana (family) spirit or aloha spirit is here indeed! There are folks that commute from very far away to attend here such as commuters from Palm Desert, Oxnard/​Ventura, Arcadia, Anaheim, etc. and they will very likely tell you without a doubt that SBCC is worth the drive.
Getting back to missions, things are progressing well since my sweetie and I first came to SBCC in 2013. Since I have been coming here, the church has sent a missions team to serve at an orphanage in Uganda. The church has also sent me to serve on a disaster relief mission trip to the Philippines in 2014! (Salamat!!!) SBCC is also sending someone out to serve at a Myanmar orphanage. For you global service/​international missions-​minded Unilocalers out there, this church is progressing in the area of missions that I was once hesitant about. There will be more opportunities to serve in Asia, Africa, and wherever God leads. Also, the church does a lot of good works in the local community, thus the name.
After services, there is what is called the blessings table that has good snacks thanks to the amazing volunteers that provide and serve them. If you are looking to «connect» and find out more about the church, there is a centrally located «Connect Station» in the lobby to get more info about the church. Dress is casual and comfy. So come on out, you will be blessed!

I was looking for a home church and decided to check out Unilocal reviews. As a new comer, the staff were all so welcoming! Also, Pastor Gary’s sermon was awesome and very eye opening! I highly recommend SBCC!

My family and I were looking for a church last year. We were kindly invited by some of our clients, so we decided to check out the church. It’s a church that values community, relationships, and is very welcoming to newcomers.
The people are warm, the pastors are caring, and the atmosphere is positive and loving.

I was searching for a church for a few years and was invited by my sister’s friend. Being a bit hesitant I went being afraid that someone would ask me to stand up if I was new, pray out loud, make me memorize verses, etc. Instead I walked in and was warmly greeted and I felt like I ‘belonged’ even though I was a visitor.
I fell in love with watching the children worship with songs, play games, make crafts and learn the Word of God.
Great bible-​based messages with excellent contemporary worship.
Whatever is needed, people are friendly and willing to assist in anyway and dress code is casual! Come as you are!
I now make this my church home and commute from the San Gabriel Valley.

If you want a friendly, laid-​back atmosphere, and great worship times on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning, this is the church! Interesting and practical Bible-​based teachings for the 21^st century, kids programs, various interest groups, etc. in a nondenominational, independent setting… and wonderful snacks and fellowship after each service!

I first attended SBCC in 1999, moved away, and then recently returned to the South Bay and SBCC. Even though I’ve been gone for nearly 10 years, it still feels like home because the people welcomed me back like I never left. It’s a testament to what makes SBCC such a special place!
Well, the church has certainly grown larger since I last attended but it still has the same feeling of Ohana as before except with more people, a bigger building, and even more food!!! The teaching/​preaching is even better than before and all of the pastors are truly gifted speakers with different styles that complement one another.
If you are looking for a cool church with solid biblical teaching, inspiring worship services, amazing people, great food & fun, and ministry & growth opportunities for people of all generations & different stages in their Christian walk… then check out South Bay Community Church. I think you’ll really enjoy it!

My fiancé and I have been attending for almost 4 years and we consider this church our family. This church is filled with genuine love for God and for each other. There are ministry programs for kids, youth, high school, college, and youth adults. SBCC reaches out to those in need through God’s Pantry and have lots of life sharing groups. We especially love our LifeGroup who help us live our lives according to God’s Word and have fun as well as share life challenges. I highly recommend this church to start your relationship with Jesus Christ. This church follows the Truth in God’s Word. Because of that, you see blessings everywhere at SBCC.

Been here for four years now and still going! People are really friendly and some have even become my best friends. If you’re in college, high school, or middle school I encourage you guys to check it out! We have lots of fun, food, awesome worship, games, and most importantly learning about the bible
Indeed a place to belong!

My family has been members here since Year 2000 and we simply LOVE this church! The pastoral staff is personable and knowledgable; the congregation — friendly, warm and caring; and the atmosphere — relaxed and inviting. In addition, the pastoral messages are scripturally-​based and applicable to our daily lives. I should also mention how this church loves to play. You can get involved in any of the many activities including crafts, hula, surfing, golf, basketball, physical fitness, photography, ping-​pong, ukelele, singing and even outings for seniors. SBCC is truly a wonderful «place to belong»!

I went here on Saturday for the 5 PM service. Pastor Gary was great. This is a word church and you will get a lot out of the message. They don’t sugar coat the truth. I went alone and despite being solo, I felt totally comfortable. The church was welcoming and very casual. Come as you are. You will be blessed.

I don’t believe that there is a church like this! I found out about this place above 7 months ago and I am in love with how they are real in their teaching.
The family made in this community is so wonderful. Everyone here is truly welcoming to everyone, young and old. You come as you are and you leave loved and accepted by many. It truly is a testament to their slogan, «A place to belong.»

Can I be honest? I’ve been at this church for about a year and a half now, and I’m in love with the people here. I love them because it’s clear to me that they are sold out for Jesus, and are committed to loving his people. The hospitable, warm, outreaching heart here is contagious. I appreciate that this church is committed to the Word of God, to being Spirit-​led in the teaching of the Bible. The worship and atmosphere is vibrant… it’s clear that there’s life in this church! SBCC is a Christian church, but in many ways it’s one that breaks the negative stereotypes toward organized religion. God is good!

The South Bay Community Church (SBCC) Ohana is a true blessing to be a part of. This is a great place to worship the Lord, Jesus Christ, and is also a great place to serve! Worship services (Sat 5pm, Sun 10am) are great; full of energy and a great selection of songs. Pastor Gary and Pastor Greg share the gospel message in a challenging and exciting ways. Come in for a visit, worship with us and see what the Aloha Spirit is all about.

I have been coming to this church for little over a year now. I love the friendly, the love and the Ohana (Hawaiian means Family) spirit from the church. The worship and the message are great. The church have children care very from toddler to elementry age during service. The church also have different service cater to junior and high school kids.
