Van Lingen Body Shop & Towing

I was in a car accident and the police called Van Lingen Towing. My vehicle was in Van Lingen’s possession for six days; during which time, money was stolen from my vehicle. After filing a claim with them, Sean Van Lingen said he watched six days worth of videotape of the yard and determined that no one stole money from my vehicle. So, he denied my claim – which was for ten dollars. He also put a lien on my car. I called and asked why they put a lien on my vehicle and I was told that they had to because it was the law. As far as I can tell, there is no law compelling a towing company to put a lien on a vehicle. They can put a lien on a vehicle if feel they need to recoup losses. Furthermore, Van Lingen didn’t follow legal protocol when they put a lien on my car. The towing company is required to send a registered letter to me (which requires my signature) before selling my vehicle at auction. The lien came via regular mail (no signature required). So, had I been in the hospital or deceased, they could’ve sold my vehicle within a month without my knowledge (or my heirs). So, the only conclusion that I can come to is that they put a lien on my vehicle (improperly) as fast as they could so they could sell it as fast as they could. And anything left in my vehicle was apparently up for grabs as well. Shame on you, Van Lingen Towing!

Horrible customer service. Asked to speak to manager who did not want to come out of his office. Would not let me go in car to get belongings out (worth less than $ 100) with expired title and drivers license. Make sure to call your own tow company!

Horrible company!!! My husband had his car towed and we went to pick it the next day. We got there at 5:00 and were told they didnt have a driver to release the car. We waited an hour and 45 minutes and still no car, only to find out we had accrued more charges for the car being there longer on their behalf. They finally released the car after 8:00 and charging us an extra $ 80. The worst company ever!!! Then to find out there was stuff missing out of the vehicle also. A police report has been made!!! I would never recommend them!!!
