In-Shape: Tracy Blvd

We mainly use for kids basketball and swimming. Would love for the price to see a little bit more organization and structure like a life guard at the pool.

This is a great place to work out and have fun doing it. We came wanting to just use the sauna and pool and had a very nice time with the staff. Greg at the front desk was so funny and kind. Erik was the manager and he helped us with our trial memberships. He was extremely amicable and accommodating. I really want to express how helpful he was. What a stellar employee. These two men are the reason for this 5 star review. They deserve a raise.

This place is probably one of the worst workout places on the face of the earth. It’s high pressure to sign up from the first second you walk in and the facilities aren’t really that great to warrant this kind of reaction.
I subscribed to membership for about 2 years and for the second year I didn’t go, but couldn’t cancel because of their strict cancellation requirements.
The bathrooms have a real lack of maintenance and the indoor pool smells like pure chlorine. It’s sad that Tracy doesn’t have a superior workout location because it needs it.

Just horrible! People do not have any swim etiquette. I was in the far left swim lane and there was a guy at the opposite end of the pool looking like he wanted to share the lane. I reached the end and turned back and next thing I know this idiot jumps in over me and just totally disrupts my side of the lane. I’m so sick and tired of people being jackasses. It is not hard to wait at the end and ask to share the lane as the rules state. I don’t know what else In-​Shape can do because there is no supervision in the indoor pool area. I can’t wait for the temps to go back up to make use of the outdoor swim lanes.

I was contacted directly by Tony, a Sales Manager who was eager to help me get started at In-​Shape, including a full tour of the facilities, a meet-​and-​greet with some of the trainers, and thoroughly guiding me through their membership pricing options. All of my questions were answered and I felt like they were supportive of my health goals (not to mention, the facilities are AWESOME!)I would recommend this gym to my local family and friends! I love this place its so big and has a lot equipment and you can just go there and do your thing and leave. It is one of the best gym I have been to. Also, the juice bar is amazing I love getting a post workout drink from there.

The worst gym ever. I took my 1.5 years old kid to their daycare and after 15min they called my name. My baby was without the nail on his finger! Thats how they look after your kids! THE WORST GYM EVER!

My original post on Unilocal was a complaint because the front desk wouldn’t work with me, and I had to cancel my membership. I was immediately contacted by the gym and they fixed my issues. I’m a student and money is tight and I’m impressed that they cared enough to email me and check the Unilocal reviews!

I won’t recommend this gym cause lack of management. I was member for a couple months only and I had a really bad experience they will charge you an extra fees even if you cancelled your membership they still do it. Be carefully don’t give them your credit card information it took me one day from work to go to the main office in Stockton to fix my issues with my account and I had to cancel my credit card from my bank just to stop those ridiculous charges and fees every month plus equipment aren’t the best.

I regret giving this gym my bank info. WARNING THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOUR ACCOUNT AFTER YOU CANCELED. TRUST ME SAVE YOUR CREDIT ITS NOT WORTH IT. I made the mistake and opened an account with this gym 2010 went for a year that was the membership contract at the time. I then tried to cancel, they made it impossible to reach anyone and when I spoke to the GM he told me he canceled and assured me that every thing was ok. «Let me tell you, that was not the truth!! Good luck.

3 stars for management lack of preparation — during a power outage, instead of escorting guests out, you should have had backup generators.
At least due to the time change I arrived early enough to get in 30 minutes.
Still love you, with a little tough love for management!
Another suggestion, consider adding multiple finger scans or card readers at the front desk so, guests do not have to wait to check in when another guest requires more attention from your staff.

Good gym! Good staff! The only thing I don’t like about this place is its not open all night like 24 hr gyms. The price we pay you think it would be. Since I work in Union city I might have to switch back over to 24 hr in Livermore to make things work. We shall see.

The location is clean and never usually too busy but almost all of the staff seem like they hate working there. I kid you not, I was working out on the «29 minute workout» and a staff member downstairs was on their break standing at the shake bar. Another employee asked this lady who worked there what she was eating and she replied with, «It’s a doughnut… You see I eat healthy but I have what I call ‘cheat snacks’… Like today I’ve had two doughnuts.» At that point I stopped listening as I lifted my weights. Place cracks me up.

This is gym is alway so clean! Has great and helpful staff that seem like they actually really want to be there. The machines are often clean and the room looks tidy. The parking lot has lots of lamp posts at night so that it’s very safe. The food juice guy was very sweet and tried his best to help me. The hangout/​relax area is very inviting. I will definitely be coming back. Great workout rooms, pool and hot tub, and great place overall.

I have been coming here for 2 years — I really like it. They have all a gym could offer and a friendly staff. The gym is clean and neat. Everytime I’ve had a concern they see me right away and the issue is fixed. Keep up the good work guys!

The place is ok but so many other places are better.
They are not very truthful when trying to cancel. When I called to cancel before my next billing cycle I was put on hold for a bit then was told I could only cancel in person. I was going out of town for the 4^th of July weekend and didn’t make it in until Sunday ⁷⁄₆. Turns out you don’t need to come in and cancel in person. The guy at the front desk didn’t even check my ID as someone stated on the phone. Those 6 extra days ended up getting billed to me on my next statement… What a joke. I didn’t fight it cause it’s really not worth my time dealing with an organization that lies to its patrons, and in my opinion was a tactic to prolong the cancellation process in order to make a couple bucks or maybe thinking the person would forget.
I suggest going to another gym even if you have to drive a bit.

Best facility in Tracy, plenty of variety from basketball to tennis and everything in between.
Great staff up front, Berto, Kenny, Moses including Charles and Farah with house keeping.
It’s not cheap but what little you save driving to 24hour fitness in either direction (Manteca/​Livermore) will likely offset with a ticket or accident over time.

I have been a member for a few months now and one thing I would improve is the people assigned to work the front desk. Most of the reviews about the front desk, on this site, are about the front desk. Instead of being prompted with a phone number or person to call, why not just say that you are actively looking into these multiple complaints of the same subject and fix it? In some instances, names have been given to ease the process of identifying the problem, albeit your staff at the front desk.
Front desk staff plays an essential role in welcoming existing customers and greeting prospective clients. I can’t think of a reason why management will not, or won’t fix this problem? One of the biggest issues I have with your facility is the constant inconsistency of the front desk personnel. Your clients are not expecting a welcoming committee but just a «thank you» or «your good» when my membership barcode is scanned. Management, do you understand that some of your staff is strict on a client waiting until the members screen is up after scanning?, Other staff working the front desk scans your barcode and doesn’t acknowledge the client at ALL.
Am I supposed to guess everyones attitude at the front desk? why not make it a policy to make things consistent? if you want your CLIENTS to wait until the account pops up on the screen, then MAKE it a policy across the board. If you wish to just scan and let clients go without checking the screen– well you know– MAKE IT A POLICY.
The Money I pay you every month does not have an ATTITUDE, neither should your front desk staff.

There’ve been a lot of bad gyms that I’ve been to in the past.
This one… tops the list as the absolute worst.
Paying almost $ 60/​mo (locking me into a 3 year contract no less) gave me access to shockingly poor weight equipment, a overly crowded parking lot and constant badgering by their Personal Training staff.
The only redeeming quality of this was the kids facilities, which I grudgingly give it one star for… well, no, I gave it one star because I can’t go any lower.
This gym is horrible. That fact that it’s one of the few choices in town, outclassed by (amazingly) an Anytime Fitness says something about the atrocious fitness facilities in this region.

I have been going to this In-​Shape off and on since I was in my teens. I’ve seen this location change and grow through the years and it has become a very solid gym, one of the most complete in town.
My husband and I have been members since 2005 and overall have been happy with our membership.
This location is probably the priciest in town but it is very well kept and has the most options:
— Cardio Machines (3 different areas)
— Weight Lifting Machines/​Free Weights (3 different areas)
— 30 minute cardio/​weight training circuit area
— Outdoor pool area with one lap pool and one larger pool with water slides and a child swim area
— Indoor pool area with a lap pool, therapy pool & jacuzzi,
— Basketball, Racquetball & Tennis courts
— Spin/​Cycling Classes
— Several Scheduled group exercise Fitness Classes such as R.I.P.P.E.D, Zumba & Yoga
— Locker Room with vanities, changing rooms, steam sauna, dry sauna and showers.
— Smoothie/​Snack Bar and Protein and Energy drinks are sold.
— Personal Training options (extra fee)
— Tanning (extra fee)
— Towel Service (extra fee)
— Childcare (extra fee) (kids really enjoy it!)
If you are planning to join this gym, you will definitely want to use all of the amenities. If you don’t use them, then it’s easy to feel that you are overpaying. I try to use as much as I can, I like the variety that is available. I can try new things and not get bored.
So while we enjoy going to this gym, there are of course a few cons.
— Parking: It can be super hard to find a spot. On really busy days, there isn’t even enough spots for everyone! On those days they will send someone out to regulate traffic, but even then you can circle the parking lot 5 times with no success. Luckily, if you have a membership at this location you most likely have the option of going to any other in-​shape gym. If you are just going to do simple cardio and lifting, sometimes it’s just better to make the drive to another location in town.
— Over Crowding: Similar to the parking dilemma but on the inside. During the busy season it can be hard to find a machine. I notice this mostly in the weight room. Weekends are pretty open but otherwise it can be difficult.
— Raising dues: We notice that approximately every 6 months we get a notice in the mail with a reason why our monthly dues have been raised. Usually it’s a small amount but still! It would be nice to be able to lock in a rate at some point.
Anyhow, we will continue to come here as long as the rates don’t climb out of our budget! We really enjoy it here.
