Specialties
Our specialty is freshly made Cornish Pasties. We offer the traditional steak pastie (ground sirloin, rutabaga, onions & potatoes) along with 6 other varieties to appeal to any palate.
We also serve a specialty breakfast pastie called a Breakfast Bobby. This is our unique creation and is very similar to a hand-held omelet in a crust.
Our pastie and soup selection changes daily, so please give us a call to make sure that we have what you are looking for.
History
Established in 1979.
Cousin Jenny’s originated from Jean Kay’s Pasties in Iron Mountain Michigan in the early 1970’s.
The owner’s parents opened a small shop back then and developed the traditional steak, potato and rutabaga recipe. In 1979 Jerilyn opened a small pastie shop in Traverse City, MI.
In 1988, the name of the pastie shop was changed to Cousin Jenny’s Cornish Pasties because Cousin Jenny is a major part of the history of the pastie. Traditionally, the Cornish women were called Cousin Jenny’s, they made the pasties, for the Cousin Jack’s the miners.
Cousin Jenny’s celebrated 34 wonderful years of business as of 2013, and the pasties are still made fresh each and every morning. We serve them fully baked or partially baked, for home baking, freezing or traveling. Recent additions to the menu include salads, sandwiches, wraps, soups and breakfast items.
If you have a large party, please call ahead to ensure we will have what you need.
Meet the Business Owner
Jerilyn D.
Business Owner
Born and raised in Iron Mountain, part of the Upper Peninsula of beautiful Michigan. I grew up amidst the culture of the mining community and the Cornish people. The pasties were a staple for us. Opened my pastie shop back in 1979 and 34 years later, I am still making fresh pasties everyday.
