Specialties

We are Traverse City’s première bicycle sales, repairs and rentals shop. We specialize in high-​end road and mountain bikes. We are also the go-​to shop in the state for fat bikes.

History

Established in 2011.

We started out in a garage, with one bike stand and a baby’s playpen taking up half of the floor space. Today, Ec includes a full repair and service area, a Guru Fit System and an entire coffee bar!

Business Owner

Jason Lowetz is a former professional road cyclist that moved back to Michigan after spending a few years living and racing in Southern California. Jason opened Einstein Cycles in his garage, and in just a few short years has built Ec into one of the coolest, hippest and most supportive bike shops in the Midwest.

Awesome place– with awesome guys working there. We called in the morning and a super nice guy Cody answered the phone and talked for a while about the different bikes they sell. They rent and sell bikes and equipment with lots of options. We decided to go and have a look and the owner Jason helped me pick out an amazing mountain bike and really went thru the effort to fit me with the right seat and gear– really paying attention to detail. My husband had an older bike another guy helped with– checked it all over and took care of the chain for him. You can tell everyone has fun working there and the people who come in are return customers who they know. Highly recommend!

Nice guys, they let us in a little early because we foolishly didn’t look at the hours and arrived 30 minutes before they opened. Got a couple cruisers to ride into town. Also good coffee next door!

This place is the best of old fashioned service with new fashioned knowledge and selection. They treat everyone so well and seem to still celebrate the fun and mechanics that cycling can be. I came here from out of town to get a bicycle tuned up and they were so kind and efficient. Very impressed.

This place is incredible. I was vacationing and needed new speedplay cleats. Not only did they sell me a pair but they were kind enough to fit them for me for free even though I hadn’t bought the bike or the pedals from them. Every person I met was nice and Jason spent a ton of time getting everything right. I will be sure to go back if I’m ever in need of help in the future.

Our family was vacationing in TC. We visited Ec for rentals and found they had a great selection including a bike cart (Burley), tag alongs, kids bikes, and tandems. Our 5 year old loved the tag along as she felt like she was biking as well, but she wouldn’t have made it the whole way on her own. The guys here were very friendly and accommodating.

Jason and all the staff at Einstein could not be more friendly and helpful. They have a large inventory of bikes and accessories from the high end full carbon road racing bikes to your trusty town cruiser. They also have a well maintained and expansive bike rental fleet including small child trailers and add-​ons. I could not be more impressed.
