Recently joined the Y and we’re glad we did! Although the price is a bit more than other gyms in the area, the term«you get what you pay for» rings true here. We come primarily to workout each day, and the gym area is almost never busy. You’ll find the nicest most respectful people who work here from the trainers and employees, right down to the fellow gym-goers themselves. All equipment is swapped out every 6 mos. so you never have to worry about broken machines, and everyone’s cleanliness is at an all time high when it comes to wiping machines down when finished(a huge plus!)

The facility itself is wonderful, providing everything you need from a hot tub to a suspended indoor track. However, I found the recent price changes to be deplorable. When I initially joined in 2008, I specifically remember paying $ 62.00 for the membership fee, which was basically the cost for two months of membership. After that, each month was $ 28.00-a price that was slightly discounted because I am a AAA member. $ 28.00 dollars a month gave me access to a pool, hot tub, suspended indoor track(huge to me), machines and free weights. I was very pleased, hence why I went back this past February… Only to find that they are now acting like the Hamiltonians I see at the Marketplace and elsewhere-arrogant and on a delusional high horse from some pre-conceived notion that they are from New York(you live 12 minutes from horse farms, you idiots). They want you to pay New York prices as well. At one point reasonable, the prices at the facility have jumped from a $ 62.00 start up fee to: Adult(ages 25 – 61)-Standard Membership $ 502.00 Annual Membership $ 85.34 «Down Payment”-due at signing $ 42.67 Per month after initial fees $ 100.00 dollar«Joiner’s Fee”-due at signing Are you giving me gold-embroidered sweat towels every time I work out at your facility, Hamilton Area YMCA? Do I get free snacks and drinks with the outlandish increase in prices you’ve deemed yourselves worthy of being paid? I don’t care how much renovation you need to pay for; to go from $ 62.00 for two months of membership in 2008 to a staggering $ 185.34 for two months of membership is regoddamndiculous. I don’t care if it has been six years, inflation isn’t that bad and frankly I think it’s sickening that they not only charge the adults there this much, but also the seniors, who undoubtedly enjoyed their leisure time for fractions less in the past. Bottom Line: Do not give your business to these people; go find a local gym and join it for a fraction of the cost. Hell, I’ve had better experiences at Work Out World than I have had at this place. However, if you want to be a snooty, self-entitled Hamiltonian that overpays for everything because you’re absolutely clueless, then I think that this place might be perfect for you.

I’ve been a member on and off over the past 22 years. Ive been to other gyms over the years but the hamilton YMCA is by far my favorite gym. All the staff I have ever talked to are the nicest people. There are a lot of older people especially in the morning all of them are really sweet. What I love about this place is there are very few body builders or women dressed up in full makeup so you don’t feel like people are looking at you. Also since they redid the place there are tons of machines so there’s not much waiting time it is also very clean unlike retro down the road from here.

Great new Zumba teachers. Also tried bokwa at e zumbathon and it seemed interesting. You spell numbers and letters on the floor. Lots of movement.

Much cheaper than other gyms in the area. They offer a ton of classes starting at 6am and ending at 10pm. There are a lot of treadmills and elliptical machines and a pool available. If you are a parent, there is a daycare for the kiddies as you get your workout on.
