History

Established in 1949.

In 1949 Harry Mehr, having just returned home from World War II, began selling military surplus clothing and assorted gear from his truck and at stands at various New Jersey flea markets. Soon he expanded on his military surplus selection to include hunting, fishing, camping and archery gear. In 1964 Harry’s Army & Navy opened on Route 130 in Robbinsville, NJ. In 1971 Harry’s only son Rick joined the business. Rick further expanded the selection of hunting and fishing gear. He also added paddle sports, work boots, and casual apparel for men, women and children. In 2009 Harry’s Army & Navy moved to the now current location. Harry’s has made a shift back to its original business roots. Harry’s no longer offers products related to hunting and archery, and no longer carries canoes or kayaks. Instead, the business focus has evolved to concentrate on the ever-​expanding military surplus department, camping, fishing, and both work and casual apparel and footwear.
