We had to come to this area for a wedding, and the rate here was much cheaper than the so called«wedding discount» rate at a different Hampton hotel in Wheeling itself. We arrived early in the evening, and the front desk clerk was(it seemed) very efficient. We were checked in very quickly. When we were taking our luggage to the room, we passed a member of the housekeeping staff, and asked her if we could get a couple of extra bath towels. She was great, she only had one on her cart, but made a special trip to get us what we asked for. The room was clean, if a bit small. We put our things away and set up computers and tablets on the WI-fi in order to check mail. The internet connection was good, and after we checked our work emails(there is no such thing as a day off in this world) we decided to check out the pool The pool small, but it was clean. There were plenty of towels on the racks, and the water temperature was just cool enough to make it enjoyable. We spent an hour or so relaxing in the pool, and then went back to the room. So far it was a 5 star experience We went out for a late dinner, and when we returned to the hotel, the internet was not working. I did not worry too much about it, and went to bed. The next morning the internet was still down, so I went to the front desk to ask about it. The clerk there told me that it was down all over the hotel, and that a technician would be there sometime that day to fix it. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with that, he had an attitude and told me that there was nothing he could do.(With most hotel internet problems, rebooting the main modem and the routers solves the problem. Apparently they did not even try this) I went and checked out the breakfast area, and it was full of people waiting for food to be brought out. I went back to my room, and told my wife that we would go get breakfast at a local restaurant, rather than trying to get something from the overwhelmed breakfast area. We went out for breakfast, and on our return to the room, happened to see the General Manager. I asked him if the internet was fixed, and he told me it was. He said that the technician had done something, and if I still had problems to let him know. It was working again so that was not needed We changed and went to the wedding. When we returned to the hotel, we went to the room only to find neither of our keys would work. The«efficient» desk clerk had programmed them for one night rather than the two we were staying. We had to go back to the lobby, and the same clerk after looking in the computer, gave us new keys, saying that they should work. She acted like we were a bother rather than her being apologetic for her error. Even my wife, who lets most things slide, commented on how rude the clerk was. We went back to the room, after a long day, and got a night’s sleep. I have to say that the beds at Hampton Inns are fantastic. The next morning I decided to check out the breakfast offerings, and found a whole lot of empty space. Apparently they had several youth sports teams staying there, and they were not able to keep up with the demand for food. I returned to the room, and showered and packed for the trip home. When I was heading down to get a luggage cart, I found I housekeeping cart blocking my door. Not a big deal, I moved it so that I could get out, and went to get the cart. When I returned with the luggage cart, one of the housekeeping staff saw me and was extremely apologetic for blocking the way. I told her that she had shocked me, she was to first one in the hotel who had offered any kind of apology for a problem. She was genuinely concerned and asked what had happened. When I told her about the attitude from two front desk employees, she told me she was going to call the general manager herself about it. She also told me that she knows that if the internet goes down, how to cycle the system(reboot) and did not understand why the front desk clerks could not do it. I told her not to bother, I would take care of making the complaints myself. When we checked out I told the clerk on duty about what had happened, She was upset about it also, and without my asking, actually gave me one free night because of the problems. The housekeepers and the clerk at checkout were wonderful. The woman handling the breakfast actually came by and apologized for the lack of food and offered to get us something even though the breakfast service time was past. She said they give her no warning of groups, so she cannot prepare for them. If the internet had worked, and we did not have to deal with keys that did not work, this would have been a 4 or 5 star rating. The rudeness of the front desk and lack of concern from them(not including the clerk who checked us out) earned a one star rating. The last clerk and the housekeeping staff brought it up to average.

I love this property. It is fairly new, very quiet location but has so many services close by — movie theatre, restaurants, Cabelas, Walmart, gas station, car dealerships for service, and lots of other places. Standard Hampton breakfast but it is done very well — attentive, cheerful staff everywhere. High marks for that. Rooms always very clean and great mattresses overall always a positive experience. You will enjoy this pass. Remember to reserve ahead as they always fill up.

I love this hotel. This is nicest, cleanest and newest Hampton Inn I’ve ever stayed at. Being a Hospitality Management Major I was giddy at all the cool new things this Hampton Inn is doing. They have sensors pads to press your key against instead of the standard insert key in lock until. They gym equipment here is brand new and consists of 3 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, two benches, a nice new complete set of free weights, weight balls and and an adjustable arm machine. There is also an indoor pool and laundry facility on site. I forgot to mention this hotel is surrounded by shopping facilities such as Walmart, target, booksamillion, jcpennys, Caleb’s, old navy and many more. It also has a huge movie theater near by.
