Food is not bad, quite nice actually. Don’t however come hungry, you will leave disappointed. The portions are very small compared to similar restaurants.

Let me start off by saying my wife and I like supporting the local businesses in Troutman. We always try to enjoy all our little Troutman has to offer. Until we’ve come to Kyjos. This had been a regular stop for us on the weekends before the«management» changed a while ago. Straight to the point, food was terrible. There was cinnamon in our shrimp sauce and on our sweet carrots, a Grease filled plate of noodles, Chicken that had more flavor wrapped in plastic, and vegetables that appeared to have been rejects from the clearance isle of your local grocery. If you want good Japanese, shiki or kimonos. If you want good Chinese, rice fun. If you want good Asian cuisine, you’ll have to leave Troutman. My two cents.

We have twice visited Kyjo’s and twice we’ve left underwhelmed. The service was nice but the food didn’t seem to have an identity. The sushi was similar to what you find at the grocery store and the rest of the dishes were rather bland. Yet another restaurant that needs to stop trying to be Chinese/Japanese/Thai and start being the one they know best.

I just wanted to update my review to add an extra star. I’ve come back again and again and the food stays consistently good — I recommend the Thai Fried Rice House Special style. Plus you just gotta love the ambiance!

The first time we visited this restaurant out of curiosity we were literally blown away by the varieties of sushi offered, and the sheer artistry of the young sushi chef who produced it. Even more astounding was that it was hidden away in Troutman! We have been back over a dozen times since then and continue to be impressed with the creativity of staff. They serve Thai and other cuisines as well, and they are generous and authentic. Although good I’d forget the Chinese. But we go back for the sushi or Thai noodles. The beer and wine list could be a bit more expansive but they have a good selection of SAKE.

Kyjos Rocks! Their sushi is awesome and I highly recommend the Chicken spring rolls for an app. They even deliver! =)
