My parents got Hansons Windows and Siding about 10 years ago and when they came to replace the windows that broke due to a storm, they were extremely polite and fast to complete the job. The cost added value to our home and helps up keep the house warm or cool in the extreme Michigan seasons. We love Hansons because the Windows paid for themselves in energy savings and the siding always gets compliments.

i recently purchased a home upon purchasing this home the previous owners had put new windows siding and roofing with hansons 3 months after purchasing the home i noticed siding on two sides of my home coming down when i called hansons they gave me the run around for a month and then told me I’m not under warranty because i didn’t transfer the warranty within 3 month of buying the home. i sat for days reading the contracts and no where does it say that and when i called them and told Dale Johnson which mind you has been unpleasant to deal with from the start he said he doesn’t have to be written as long as we told the previous owners verbally thats all that matter. would never recommend this company this is the worst company and if my comment doesn’t matter please read the other negative comments you guys are horrible and need to be put on the news for the worst know company.

Called for roof quote. Rep William Conaway seemed nice but socially inappropriate. He talked about his tattoos, wife, son’s math skills and other odd topics and stayed 3 hrs. He kept referring to the company owner as a «little jew».
He pushed the «lifetime» guarantee and the price ($ 21,000) was in line with other estimates. He even pulled out the old «let me call my supervisor to get you the super special secret exclusive discount».
We had 1 more estimate scheduled the next day and ultimately chose Hansons for the guarantee and the promises William made. He came back with the contract and we saw that the top line said «verbal agreements are not honored» It also said we could not take them to court and that any legal fees arising from a dispute would be paid by us. The red flags went up. As the conversation unfolded many of the things he told us in the first appointment began to fall by the wayside. He at first told us «unlike other companies I’m not gonna put 15 guys on your roof. We need the right hand to know what the left hand is doing so ill only put 4 or 5 of my best guys up there.» But then that changed to a 15 man crew. He also told us we needed ridge and intake vents because gable vents are not good and they would close them off and install new vents. When it came time to sign he said that WE could close the gables. It’s a 3 story home with a ¹²⁄₁₂ pitch (super steep) I’m a nurse my bf is an IT professional, We aren’t roofers! He also told us initially that step flashing would be installed on areas where the roof met verticle surface (we have 5 dormers). When signing, there was no written mention of flashing. I asked if he could write it but he said it was determined by the installers «as needed». I began to get very nervous but I clung to that all mighty «lifetime guarantee» so we signed on a Saturday knowing we had 3 days to cancel.
We had 8 pages filled with fine print that protected the company but realized the only information we had that protected us was 1 page, 1 sided paper that said «lifetime guarantee on parts and labor» (lifetime of the structure? The purchaser? The average lifetime of the shingles? Half the atomic life of a radioactive iodine isotope?) I called Monday to ask a manager for a copy of the actual warranty terms and conditions as was told by the receptionist that there is no written warranty. I asked again for the manager again but suddenly William the rep was on the line and told me I had the guarantee and there was nothing else. No fine print. I then made an appt with an attorney specializing in product liability litigation. He said the guarantee was meaningless. No terms, exclusions, voids, length and did not define «lifetime». He said there is no law governing the term «lifetime guarantee» and the company can define it any way they want. He could not begin to guess what our rights under the agreement were. We decided to cancel the contract according to Hansons policy.
Later that day William called & asked when they could measure. I informed him that we canceled. I told him we were uncomfortable with the lack of detail in the guarantee & some of his statements changing during the 2^nd meeting. He literally yelled «I told you it was a lifetime guarantee with no fine print!» I asked him calmly to stop yelling at me. he apologized saying that he was driving a loud truck not yelling. I began recording the conversation because I sensed trouble.
He began yelling again, called my attorney a hack, said I was ignorant and didnt understand anything and he was sick of explaining things to me 15 times. He SCREAMED «what do you want me to do write it in crayon?» Now I am used to dealing with mentally ill people off their meds who spit and throw poop at me so I can keep my cool. I asked him why he was so upset. He said he knew I was going to be a problem and I asked too many questions. (Yes for 21k I’m gonna ask some questions, ok?) He insulted me saying I was only the girlfriend, I didnt own the house, had no right to make decisions. I reminded him that HE was the 1 who called ME to schedule the job. He said he was glad we cancelled and he didn’t want to deal with me.
Hanson’s employs psychopaths who are emotionally disturbed. Very inconsistent information, very odd behavior by the sales rep, very unprofessional, rude, insulting and totally out of line abusive language. And apparently the lifetime guarantee document they provide is legally meaningless. Please don’t get sucked in like we did. Heed my words, listen to your gut, consult a lawyer, do whatever you have to do to educate yourself and AVOID THIS COMPAY AT ANY COST!

I called Hansons to replace a window at my elderly parents’ home that was beyond repair. The lady on the phone would not even allow me to make an appointment on their behalf, citing legal concerns, even though I assured her my parents would be home and they would ultimately approve any work… all I was trying to do was help them. To me, a sign that this was not going to be an easy company to deal with… happy to take my business elsewhere.

I gave them a second chance today and, once again, they blew it.
I’m going to replace my front picture window which has 3 — 5 ½ foot sections. Hanson’s wouldn’t even come out to quote it because I wasn’t having at least 3 windows replaced. My picture window is bigger than any other 3 windows in my house.
They are also full of BS. Their reason for not coming out was that they say that they’ve found its more economical for «me» if the quote at least 3 windows. That’s crap! My business just isn’t enough for them.
I’m getting my window replaced no matter what, but it will be done by a company that acts professional and appreciates my business. That is not Hanson’s. Call ANYONE ELSE.

These windows ended up coming in at a great price even after installation and everything. I would definitely use them in the future for other window issues.

I just bought a house where the previous owners used Hanson’s for a about $ 30,000 worth of roofing, siding and gutter work less than 3 years ago. The work they did needs a few tweaks to it that will cost perhaps $ 500 bucks. However, I have just learned that Hanson’s will charge me a ridiculous $ 3,000 to transfer the warranty before they will perform the work.
I have contracted with another firm to make the repairs, and I will never use Hanson’s again for such highway robbery.

(Reviewing INSULATION ONLY)
As a first time home buyer — I enjoy moments were I feel like a «super adult» doing adult like things as in getting home improvement done.
Initially I just wanted to get a quote on insulation to see what estimate it would add up to — my parents used Hansons many years ago for their windows so I didn’t feel worried about the company themselves. I was more concerned about the procedure and if I’ll be able to get afford the job since I was unsure about the amount. So I’ll walk you through the entire process:
Step 1: Sale representative (Kris) came out to my home and give me the entire walk through of the process — also took pictures of the work which needs to be done. He give me the in (s)/out (s) of everything and answered all the my questions I had — I appreciate the fact he was very patience
Step 2: Review the prices = obviously everything will have something different depending on the size of the house and how much work you need. They have about 4 packages available to choose from and you are able to finance if necessary. I was lucky enough to be within a promo option and of course they knocked some money off — if I try to get it finance through the company at the time (no deposit required). Agreed to the package/​price; so now I have to wait to see if I get approved or not.
Step 3: FINANCED APPROVED = took about a 1 week to get the results back, so I was able to setup an appointment a week later because I’m trying to complete the work before the year ends.
Step 4: After date was schedule which the normal installment window is between 8am to 11am; I was all set up for guys to come out and do the work. The workers (contracted through Hansons) arrived at 9am and greeted me by first name and with a wonderful smile — did I mention they were pretty hot as well? They give me step by step play as they worked.
Step 5: Work completed within 2.5hrs and they cleaned/​vacuum their area. 3hrs later the original sale representative showed up and helped me activate my warranty; he also made sure I was pleased with services.
I’m very happy with the results and I can’t wait to see my DTE bill drop.

I used Hanson’s for new gutters with gutter guards.
First off, the salesperson wasn’t not truthful on the actual costs of all the work that needed to be done. When we tried to dispute the extra charges through customer service the lady argued and just charged us approximately an extra $ 100 because they already had our credit card information.
Secondly, all Hanson’s did was hire a contractor (outside company) to do the work. Why have a middle man who takes a cut? I mine as well just hire the contractor as I imagine it would’ve been cheaper. The contractor left a small mess. Little snippets of gutter all around the house.
In my opinion, just go with another company. The dishonest practices weren’t worth the hassle. They have called me since then asking for more business. The lady on the phone just tries to show empathy and sell me more services. She even disputed that they don’t contract out work for gutters.
NO HANSON’S! NEVER AGAIN!

I refuse to work with them after they refused to schedule an appointment with just me. I mentioned i had a BOYFRIEND (not husband, or domestic partner, or anything else semi binding) and they said we both had to be there. After explaining FOUR TIMES that I ALONE was the home owner and I ALONE would be paying for the windows and that it was not possible due to our work schedules to meet together she had to check with a manager before she was able to schedule. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Finally scheduled then decided you know what? never mind.
Called back to cancel. The explanation I got as to why they wanted to do that is because they wanted to be sure i would get the best price/​quality… what does having him there do to the price or the quality?! They wanted to make sure that we both got all of the information together so they wouldn’t have to make another estimate call… and I AGAIN explained that we BOTH don’t need all of the information, as this was MY DECISION. Yes, I am a woman, who owns her own home, who can make clear decisions on her own.
They then proceeded to call back three times to try to «explain…» you’ve explained enough and I’ve made enough of a decision not to ever work with a company like that.

Such a shame. We had such a nice salesperson and a great presentation. We informed him that we were going to get some more estimates and we’d let them know.
The next day somebody from the company called me. They asked me if we were happy with the presentation and then essentially said «what’s it going to take to get you to take our product? Is it the price?». I informed them that we were going to get some estimates and then we’d talk. The day after that the same thing. Then they wanted to contact my wife. Then they called again. I finally told them that we were indeed NOT using Hansons under any circumstances because now it’s become more than sales… it’s downright harrassment. Why don’t they just offer you the lowest price to begin with? Why should I let them present something else to me? How many times and days would they call back if I didn’t tell them to stop calling? My advice, don’t call Hansons or they’ll call you infinitely until they make you mad.

We had them come out for siding. I liked the sales rep and both my husband and I are in sales so for us that is important. However, we were given an estimate and signed off on siding and gutters. Unfortunately for the sales rep he measured a little light but we were told they would still honor the price. After picking out colors for the shake and siding we moved on to gutter color and that when we were told sorry it’s not on the sheet, yet it was on 2 other documents along with our initials indicating we were checking off on that to be done. I called customer service and the lady I spoke to said it’ll be covered and then about 1 hour later a man called to say no it was not on any form so it would be at least $ 2,000 more. I understand they tried to cover us even though there was a measurement error however I think this was an attempt to get around their mistake. I gave 2 stars because the product was nice and o liked the salesman.

SO disgusted with this company! I signed on for siding and window for my house in July 2015. The salesman Chris was very helpful and not pressuring at all– other than the 60 minute appointment turned into a 3 hour appointment… I was very excited about our new windows and siding and even displayed their HANSONS sign in my yard… The siding and the windows are very nice, however, the contractors used and customer service are far worse than horrible… to say the least. The sub-​contractor who came to install my windows did a very shotty job. All my windows (8) trim are white, he installs nude wood quarter round– to make the window meet my existing interior trim– and then leaves a 2 inch gap from the bottom! He damaged the majority of my interior trim trying to take it off, broke the casing on the Bay window when he installed it, then acted like he could GLUE IT and it would be fine!!! Called customer service and was told they would get me a new window but it would take another 8 weeks… still waiting on that window to be installed.

The sub contractor who came to install my siding (I happened to personally know. ex of a family member) but when he finished the siding (which took 2 weeks because he didnt show up til 10am and the left by 3pm and worked alone) there was supposed to be a walk thru and a satisfaction card completed, he stated the contractors filled the card out and a Hanson’s rep wont ever actually come out and do a walk through, even thought they might tell you they will. I had issues with some of the siding not being SECURED TO MY HOUSE and gaps and holes, I called Hansons I was very rudely told that things happen and they will fix it so RELAX! really relax? Think HANSONS will RELAX if I mess with paying or not paying my bill?

As of today still waiting on a new window, gutters were supposed to be installed today, I was the only scheduled appointment I was told. Yet as of 1:56pm, still no contractor has come to install the gutters. Called spoke to David Elias, he explained NORMALLY they call when they need to reschedule, but I beat them too it. I explained that I have called numerous times, because appointments were made, yet we werent notified until the day before; appointments that were set, weren’t kept on several occasions, the start times never accurate, every time you call Hansons the customer service makes you feel like you are bothering them from their real job… David acted like he was concerned, but his empathy needs some work. Lori C. was supposed to be my project coordinator (HAHAHA), but I constantly had to call and be my own project coordinator; checking on days and times and confirming. David could care less. He just kept saying this isnt how it NORMALLY works, well after 3 months of working with HANSONS, Im not quite sure anybody there knows how it actually is SUPPOSED TO WORK!
Hansons is about customer satisfaction until you sign… once you sign their dotted line, you become one of their victims… David Elias assured me that their practices and policies are always customer oriented and followed to the T… Well if they are, then why are there so many complaints that are all the same? OH FYI the subcontractors they use, they don’t screen, because my siding contractor (the one I knew) I know for a fact that his license has been suspended for too many drunk driving offenses… I guess Hanson’s only cares about looking good for commercials, not who is actually representing their company by the CRAP labor they hire.
I will personally tell everyone I know and ANYONE who wants to listen my horrendous story and dealings with the very unprofessional Hansons. I think I would have gotten better if I would have went with the rip off king JACK!

Allen was very knowledgeable about the product and did a great job explaining our energy loss that we have occurring right now. We signed up and having our windows installed ASAP! And we love the guarantee even if a new owner buys the gone!

Just replaced 10 windows/​sliding doors at my house. The windows/​door material is very good compared to other places. I had 4 different quotations from other places and Hansons were not the cheapest but their windows were the best quality (triple layered compared to double layered).
There were no hassle or anything and they called me couple times to make sure everything was installed correctly.
overall i’m very happy that i used Hansons to do my windows/​sliding doors.

Salesman was in my house for over 3 hours trying to get me to buy their windows. He lied about several things which I didnt know until i googled it after he left. even cancelling order within 72 hours is a joke because it took over a month to get my deposits back.

I had the pleasure of working with Hansons for new windows for my new house. I believe the quality of the windows, workmanship, and lead time to get the job completed were very satisfactory. I really enjoyed working with my rep Bill and him taking the time to explain and show me the different types of glass and materials used. Ultimately yes I would recommend them for windows, and probably any of the other work they specialize in.
The only thing that didn’t earn my complete complete satisfaction, is the fact the work was not completed in a timely manner. On the day of the installation, the windows got put in, insulation foam injected around the frame, etc… but apparently the day didn’t allow enough time to install the outside trim… So I get it if there weren’t enough hours in the day, but the job remained unfinished the day after… and the day after… and the next, etc… It took me 2 or 3 calls to insist the job get completed and finally about a week and a half later the installer came back out and completed the job.
But like I said, other than that, I’m pretty happy with the results and would recommend Hansons to anybody interested in windows =) Besides, installing energy efficient windows earns you tax deductions, let alone energy savings, it’s a win situation all around =)

Wish I could give them a ZERO!
They are absolute scum. 2.5 hours and they went from 19K to 11K for a roof on a home worth only 119K– you gotta be kidding me. I will never pay that much for a new roof. Lied and said they could do trim and gutters before they came out but they said the job is not big enough despite them telling me my 1100 sq ft home was a huge roofing project. They also would not come unless hubby was home. Male chauvinist PIG company. BTW the video of the party boy owner that went to Eastern was laughable. Inherited company and drove it into the ground. Bernie Madoff would be proud of this scheister!
BEWARE they do no work– you are a third party to their contracts and their warranty says they warrant the products if installed by them– guess again– they hire the installers — they did not install a thing so the warranty is VOID.
I also got a text message next day from this liars boss asking me to call him. Never! Blocked them all. They have called me 6x a day for three days– no more. This company should be investigated for unprofessional practices– not to mention unethical!

Do yourself a favor and don’t be the next victim. Hacks, frauds, gypsies, charlatans. Avoid this company at ALL COSTS. Long story short. My 92 year-​old granny lives in Detroit and some derelicts decided one night to jack all of the aluminum siding off her detached garage (to sell for scrap, presumably). She calls Hanson’s because she still takes care of her property (she watches too much TV and remembered their commercial and jingle). The sales dude shows up and cons her into getting TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of vinyl siding on a house built in 1940 that is worth, at best, $ 2500.
I’m down with sales pitches, but these people are SCUM. Straight up. To prey on the elderly and unsophisticated consumer just to hump a commission should be considered THEFT. I called them on it, and basically was told to beat it and hung up on… seems like they get those type of calls all day long.

Don’t even have them out for a quote they came in 1200 dollars more than an independent for my gutters and they won’t stop calling even at 8 in the morning on Sunday

We have worked with the team at Hanson’s for years. The end result has always been great, the reps were very educational and the production team did a great a job keeping in touch with us throughout the process. Highly recommend.

Thieves and liars!
Salesman came to the home, stayed till 9pm. He asked me to sign something showing his boss he was working. Next day, I get a call asking me when they should start the install. Start the install? I never agreed to any purchase. I said no thanks, they told me I signed a contract. WHAT?!?
The owner called, verbally insulted my wife over the phone and then proceeded to yell at me and said he would sue me.
I went into the store and had it out with the owner. I got out of the contract but not after many threats.
STAY AWAY FROM HANSENS !!!

What a grueling experience. The sales guy came early for his 1 ½ hour presentation. Price was triple my other 2 quotes and after me agreeing to tell 10 friends. Yadayada it was down to only 2x the quotes if others. They have you sign your life away and do I had to cancel. Physically go to the place and the Receptionist PHYSICALLY PUT HER HANDS UP as to not take the cancellation. U couldn’t believe it. I HAD to talk to a manager (so they could have one more shot at me). He finally took my cancellation. DO NOT CALL THEM OR LET THEM NEAR YOUR HOUSE!!! Unless of course you like to pay triple competitors prices. The salesman kept bragging they are a $ 50 million dollar company. Glad I’m not adding to that number.

If you’re looking to get harassed and stalked by a business then Hansons is right for you!
Seriously, my mom entered Hansons contest and within 10 minutes they were calling our house to see when we wanted to make an appointment to come in. Mind you, we don’t need a new roof or anything from Hansons, my mom was just checking out their site to see what they had to offer, and figured there would be no harm in entering their free contest.
So, 10 minutes after filling out the form our phone rings. It’s Hansons wanting to know when we can come to their showroom or schedule an appointment. After letting them know we didn’t want anything they became insistent. So, rather than argue my mom said, «Sure, Wednesday at 7.» with no plans to follow through.
Sure enough, Wednesday at 7, my house phone starts to ring and doesn’t stop until 7:45 until someone from Hansons Windows actually showed up AT MY HOUSE. I let him know that even if I made an appointment to get an estimate and didn’t show up, that showing up unannounced at my house was unacceptable and unprofessional. He left, I thought it was finally over. I was wrong.
Immediately after I send the guy away, my phone continues to ring and my caller ID verifies that it’s Hansons for the FIFTH time in less than an hour, they also emailed and left voicemails.
This is harassment, there is no contest, it’s a scam to get info that you would normally not give and harass you until you buy something. It is not acceptable to send anyone to my house if I didn’t agree to it and the guy on the phone apologized but didn’t see what they are doing is wrong. I told him I entered a contest but he didn’t acknowledge that either, he just said they thought I wanted a roof estimate.
IT’S A SCAM. Period.
