Just stayed recently at the Olde Judge Mansion while on business in the area and couldn’t be more delighted. Tina Urzan, the proprietor, made my group feel at home and our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer. We wanted for nothing; the rooms were tastefully appointed and the beds were comfortable, and every amenity that you could wish for in a hotel were there. Breakfast in the morning was hot and cooked to order, there were snacks available 24 hours, and the building is secure with a keypad code necessary to enter. The property had free wifi, a computer for guests to use, and while there were some shared facilities(only one iron and ironing board for the guests to share? What a horror!), there was nothing stopping our business trip from becoming a great success. I absolutely give this property my highest rating, and I travel for business over 100 nights a year, so I think I know what I’m talking about.

This place was. not. good. Yes, it was affordable, but our A/C shorted out in the middle of the night, the mattress was incredibly uncomfortable, and our bathroom was downstairs and through the dining room… where people were DINING in the morning. Breakfast was good, but… that’s it.

Have stayed here several times when visiting Troy/RPI. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Tina makes you feel welcome and makes a great breakfast as well. Rooms are clean and snacks are always available. Parking is never a problem. If you have any questions about Troy ask Tina, she knows Troy better than anyone.

The value of this place can’t be denied. $ 65(ish) dollars is fantastic. I think staying here is kind of like staying at your crazy old aunt’s house which hasn’t been updated since 1967. I’m talking no flat screen tv, just a huge stack of VHS tapes. On the plus side, there are delicious brownies and cookies for grabs all the time(as well as tea/coffee). Tina also makes a tasty breakfast. The house itself(not really the décor) is gorgeous. Here’s the thing– the neighborhood is NOTGOOD. Just know that. Plus: there’s a discount for paying in cash/check.

This was my first bed & breakfast experience and it did not disappoint. I was quite surprised to find this place so close to RPI and in a not appealing part of Troy. Despite the area this place satisfies my needs of a cozy place to sleep with the added bonus of a fully stocked breakfast home made by the innkeeper, Tina. It was quite a mansion and filled with items that almost reminded There are five rooms and a nice fenced off-street parking lot with assigned parking for each room. The front door is a keyless entry that uses a code provided by Tina before arriving. I stayed at the more inexpensive Oatman room on the second floor which requires sharing a full bath and a half bathroom on the first floor with the Dunphy room. A bit of an inconvenience but definitely manageable and both bathrooms were immaculate and had clean towels and a soap dispenser. For $ 60 a night, I can’t complain. The Oatman room had two twin beds, a desk, dresser and a bit dated TV with VCR. Didn’t really mind since the place included free wifi for me to connect my tablet. Also the closet had plenty of hangers and also bathrobes. One thing I should’ve brought were slippers and perhaps shower shoes. Morning breakfast was great and I got to meet the few other guests as Tina took our orders and made a delicious over easy eggs with ham and blueberry pancakes. There was also the continental breakfast variety of coffee, pastries, and juice but with the more personal touch. I look forward to booking a room again!

I love the place. Price was perfectly reasonable and it includes a full breakfast! I was pleasantly pleased with the whole operation. And there is a snack in the evening! Seriously, the only complaint is the location… I was comfortable walking the mile or so during the day. but it was all about the cabs in the evening! The good news is that cabs are relatively cheap so getting in and around isn’t that expensive. My only other issue is they took the lot next door and turned it into a parking lot — no green space to just site outside in! Next time I head back to Troy, I will stay there! And I will take the full tour of the cemetery around the corner, it is amazing!

I wish I had known of this place before! I have family I periodically visit in Albany, but staying in their house is an ordeal, so for years I’ve been looking for an affordable B and B. FInally I thought of expanding my search to Troy… and found the Olde Judge’s Mansion. I’d have to say it’s the perfect B and B. Charming, amazing period detail on the house and beautiful furnishings, but not too precious and not all cluttered. Just clean and homey. The proprietor Tina strikes the perfect balance between being helpful and solicitous and leaving you space to read the paper over coffee if that’s all you feel like doing in the morning. Oh, and she cooks an amazing breakfast to order, fresh eggs, oatmeal, even sausage«from the butcher shop» — which indeed it was. And the prices are like something from another era: $ 50 — $ 85 /night. Did I mention there was a jacuzzi in the bathtub?!? Compared to the kinds of hotels I’ve seen in that price range in the Albany area this is an amazing deal. The outside of the building is period perfect Victorian which, combined with the somewhat deserted feeling of downtown Troy, gave a rather Gothic first impression. But the inside is an exact contrast: warm, comfortable and inviting. After 5 days, I was sorry to leave. And that’s NEVER happened to me visiting Albany before.
