«Soups, Salads, Sandwich Wraps and over a Dozen Kinds of Mac n’ Cheez!»
Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! showcases one of Chef Lorraine Platman’s most popular dishes from her full-service restaurants. In this «jazzed-Up» incarnation, over a dozen different kinds of «Mac n’ Cheez» are offered. Additionally, guests can create literally thousands of delicious combinations with all of the toppings available.
All of the Mac n’ Cheez! varieties are assembled when you place your order, so they’re as fresh as possible — Using all natural chicken, steamed tiger shrimp, freshly chopped lettuce mixes, and Sandwich Wraps made to order!
There are vegetarian soups everyday and a fun assortment of beverages, but they don’t call her «Sweet Lorraine» for nothin’ – There are also freshly-baked cookies and triple-chocolate brownies.
You gotta try it – It’s Cheesy, Fun & Delicious!
History
Established in 2010.
It all started when Chef Lorraine was in the 5th grade (no, they didn’t call her Chef Lorraine then!) when she made Mac n’ Cheese with her Girl Scout Troop. Well, the story goes that everyone loved her macaroni and cheese (that’s what they called it back then) and Lorraine’s parents would ask her to make it for the whole family!
Well, over the years she has experimented hundreds of times with different ingredients, procedures and recipes to get just the right «Ooey Gooey» texture for her cheese sauce and the exact Cheddar cheese flavor and «mouth feel» (That’s just a fancy term chefs like to use these days) to go with the fine Durham wheat semolina pasta (OK, you can call them noodles).
No, this is «Not your Mama’s Mac n’ Cheese!»…Unless your Mother has a real passion for Macaroni and Cheese, has worked for 30 years refining her Mac n’ Cheese recipe, is using Local Cheeses and can make you a «Made-Fresh-to-Order» Mac n’ Cheez! In less than five minutes, like Chef Lorraine can.

Business Owner
Chef Lorraine Platman was born in Southend-on –Sea, Essex, England. She emigrated with her family to the U.S. at the age of ten. After developing an interest at an early age in watercolor, as well as woodblock and pen-&-ink drawing, she won recognition for her abilities and a National Art Award. In college, at Michigan State University and Grand Valley State Colleges, her studies included environmental science and wildlife ecology.
After college, she managed local art galleries, and moonlighted as a caterer and wholesale baker out of her home. In 1982 she opened her first restaurant — and in 1984 Sweet Lorraine’s Café was opened (casual fine dining) in Southfield, Michigan becoming the first of a series of expansions that now include a Sweet Lorraine’s Café & Bar in Livonia and Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! «fast-casual/quick serve» spots that continue to grow.
